The other card I added was Squallmonger, which pairs nicely with our strategy to deal damage to flyers and players. Best part is it doesn't hit itself!!!
Please take a look at my updated list, which I believe to be "Final", but needs testing. You'll find it here: Decklist
Oh, I had not noticed that Squallmonger didn't hit itself. I just saw it as a worse Ifh-Bíff Efreet. I'm actually very inclined to play this aswell!
I am running Elderscale Wurm in my build, but have yet to test it out. It works great in theory though. And yeah, rogerandover beat me to it that the first line only applies if your life total is below 7, at which point it raises you up to 7. No need to fret. I plan on cutting the Seer's Sundial once I get an extra copy of Nissa to include and see how she works out.

First of all let me say I love how you pimped out your Tappedout page (even got that siiiiick Nissa pic on there)
Sorry for the mistake on Elderscale Wurm - reading the card is too advanced a skill man, I just tap the forests and play fogs and hurricanes, give me a break! But in all seriousness it does sound good, and a good backup since Glacial Chasm is kinda scary and draws hella hate.
As for the list... Looks good! Here are some thoughts
You have Squall Line, Hurricane, Ifh-Biff Efreet, and SquallMonger - do you feel you need all of these? I feel like the 2 big spells is ok, and maybe a third would be worthwhile, but four seems like overkill. I like the SquallMonger since she can be used over time, though you'll have to be careful not to throw her down when things are dicey, since they can use her to kill you if you don't have protection. She is a little slower since she costs 2 to activate, but worth trying out.
On Growing Rites of Itlimoc - you run 15 creatures and no token makers... will this be good enough? Interested to hear your experiences with it
Worldspine Wurm - this card is super cool obviously, but it doesn't seem to fit the theme of the deck except insofar as it is an alternative closer. Which it does pretty well. Is that what you were thinking with it? One of the nice things about the deck is that once you have tons of mana you can kind of just throw things that are cool in (that's why Emmy got into my list in the first place) so why not I guess
Hall of Gemstone - I'm torn on this thing for the reason that it turns off Constant Mists unless you do it preemptively in response to their triggers on their upkeeps. but then you have to use it every turn and no one can beat anyone else up for you...
I'd recommend Viridian Revel as a card to add, could use a few more enchantments in general maybe.
High Market is also a good one, especially if you've got Genesis. Could run Eternal Witness to break it even farther, but recurrable Emrakul is p juicy all on its own.
As always, a lot of it will be a matter of getting a feel for the deck and seeing what you like. Let us know how things go!
PS I looked for more Nissa fan art... man there is some weird stuff on the internet. I even found a picture of Hermione Granger edited to look like Nissa??!?! Spoilered below in case you didn't want to see it. What a world we live in y'all
So my friend introduced me to this card the other day and it's something i'm seriously considering. 100 mana is a hell of an investment but I've definitely had board states capable of producing 60 or so mana a turn and ways to do it all again with Early Harvest and recursion. It's also a nice one mana enchantment which can just cycle well with an Enchantress on board. Thoughts?
Hey thanks for the compliment on my pimped out page. I always try to add a little flair to make it exciting to look at and interact with. If you'd like other examples of pimpage, check out my Gitrog Monster Primer, and my Creatureless Mono-Red Control deck
4x Hurricane effects is high, I do agree, but I like to have redundancy. That said, 4 may be too many and I may drop it back down to 3 at some point through testing.
Since add Growing Rites of Itlimoc, I have drawn it twice. The first time it snagged me my Ifh-Biff Efreet. The second time, I whiffed and failed to find a creature. I've not had too hard of a time flipping it since both times I have had Sandwurm Convergence in play.
Worldspine Wurm is in as a beater and alt win-con... Besides, who doesn't want a 15/15 Trampler? It's certainly a flex spot though and I'm open to replacing it with something else if something better appears
I was wary of Hall of Gemstone at first but have come around to it as it really hurts our enemies more than it does us, and I play so many Wild Growth effects that I forsee being able to still make Green when needed
Viridian Revel is cool and was in here at one point, but has been cut while I tinker. No doubt it's good, but I wonder if something like Hum of the Radix might not make more sense to curb artifacts in general
So in terms of my deck's philosophy... I wanted to broaden it away from just turtling up until you can bust out a Hurricane, so as I added things like Sandwurm Convergence and Garruk, Primal Hunter, suddenly I found that the deck has a lot of token gen. I then added Arachnogenesis as another fog, which gives us more Hurricane-proof blockers with Reach. I've found this strategy to be highly effective so far, and think it's added a lot of balance to what I can do at anytime.
Finally, the internet is a very weird place. I am soooooo careful what I image search for these days. Surf safely!
Really liking your red deck, Ender. It reminds me much of my Squee deck (newest iteration here), which have a thread here that might be interesting for you to look at
On topic, I'm going to try out some of your choices and will also switch commander(!) from Kamahl, Fist of Krosato everyones favorite, Nissa.
rogerandover, thanks, I always appreciate the support of my Red deck, it's kinda my pet deck. Please feel free to comment/upvote it! I'll check out your Squee deck and that thread. BTW, how do I tag a username like you did mine?
Welcome to the Nissa side. You'll like having consistant land drops, and a mini card draw engine.
I see you figured it out yourself. It's just a color though, not a tag.
I've already been playing Nissa, Vastwood Seer in a creature-oriented build, so I know the power of her. The CA is real. Played one game last night, and boy it was awesome. I just vomited lands out, and still kept my hand full with cards thanks to Nissa. I'll play some more, but I might make the switch permanently.
If I should pick between the two, Song of the Dryads is definitely the stronger one. lifegift only gives you life. It can give a lot, but sometimes it also draws some hate. People will attack you, just for having most life - even though there's a greater threat on board.

Thanks, I was thinking that Song of the Dryads would give me more "Control", which is a point of this deck, so I think it'll be a change I make tonight

Is anyone else out there excited about their MGC decks? I feel like there should be more active discussion on the topic happening. Or maybe I'm just late to the party

"Due to a lack of funding, the light at the end of the tunnel has been shut off."
I'm always very excited for MGC. Sadly there hasn't been any opportunities for me to play lately (besides cockatrice where nice games is far between), so there's not much to discus from my point that hasn't already been discussed.
But I do think that I'm going to make a permanent switch from Kamalh, Fist of Krosa to Nissa, Vastwood Seer. There will be some minor changes, but not much. Thought about cutting Arboria, but then I played a game with it, where I also had Vedalken Orrery, and yeah I'm keeping Arboria.
If you are bored, maybe you can get this thread going - they look pretty likeminded to us here There is also some other really nice monogreen lists around, even though they are quite different from what we are doing here. fx this one.
And then a rare opportunity to play a couple of edh games finally showed. A collegue asked if I wanted to play after work - sure, I bought my MGC. We played two games, and I won both. It kinda felt like cheating though - he's rather new to magic and was playing a Edgar vampire deck, that's he's slowly upgrading.
First game I got down an early Ifh-Bíff Efreet which got equipped a couple of turns later by Darksteel Plate and won quickly afterwards - Seedborn Muse also helped.
Next game was kinda the same, just this time it was a turn 3 Tireless Tracker followed by a land and a clue. I just ramped and drew cards. My collegue was greedy and hold back a sweeper, since he thought other creatures might come. But then i drew Darksteel Plate again, tracker was at +12 counters and had Rogue's Passage so no chumping.
He asked if my deck could even get any better - lols
Amazing! I've been having a lot of luck with my MGC deck too. My favourite part is seeing people get screwed over by stuff they've never seen before.... stuff they can't even get mad at cause it's so weird or neat.

With all due respect, I understand how vedalken orrery is unconditional but doesn't Yeva, Nature's Herald achieve much the same effect for a monon green deck? I run a yeva enchantress/creature hybrid and the seedborne muse/yeva interaction+cards like arboria make the deck a complete powerhouse in my local metas.
I get what you are saying, weltkrieg, but when you run a creature-light deck, Yeva, Nature's Herald is not for you. I only have 15 creatures in my deck, besides the commander. Of the rest, 8 is instants so Vedalken Orrery grants most of my deck flash.
I'd like to place a suggestion: Magus of the Library.
Yes, I know, mana elves aren't really your thing, and that he isn't that reliable, but I'm sure you know that card draw is really critical to a control deck - that's probably why you play Nissa as your commander, and the strongest colorless draw engine is definitely Library of Alexandria. That card is banned for good reason, so maybe its legal wannabe could help here? This is pretty much the only deck in which this card can be viable.
Nissa in your command zone might help you activate this guy. When she enters you get a Forest to your hand, when she +1's you can get a card to hand.
I don't know your deck that well, but if I were to suggest cuts for this card they might be something like Viridian Revel, Krosan Tusker, Preferred Selection (BTW, why isn't this card Mirri's Guile?)
Another suggestion - speaking of colorless card engines - can either be Staff of Nin or The Immortal Sun. Sun is probably worse for you since it mutes Nissa.
Hmmm I kinda like it. We often have 7 cards in hand; I often end up discarding down to 7, so getting him to work shouldn't be too hard. Worth a try, thanks for the suggestion! Could well be better than Krosan Tusker. I've really like Viridian Revel. Preferred Selection should be Mirri's Guile, but the list in the main post is tuned to be a bit below crazy optimal (75%) just to allow pet cards and to be played in a more casual environment.
Staff of Nin is a solid one. I kind of wanted to stay away from relying too heavily on artifacts, as it shifts the flavor of the deck (though artifact green is another idea i've toyed with). Aside from that more or less minor point, I feel like the deck draws a lot of cards as it is, and usually it does so in a way that impacts the board beyond drawing cards alone (playing lands or enchantments). Staff of Nin does not a lot more than just draw cards, so it doesn't have a ton of synergy with the rest of the deck. A good option, but I think just not the best in this context.
The Immortal Sun seems amazing in a Kamahl build though - pump your land creatures, shut down their planeswalkers... mega nice
This will probably be my first EDH deck...I've been playing the Modern list for a little while now and love it.
That deck sure looks nasty But this will properly be somewhat different. Targeted land destruction isn't as good in multiplayer then 1v1. Here MGC tends to sit behind a Fog until we go off.
Have any of you seen anything exciting in the spoilers? Im not entirely sold on anything yet, but a couple of cards caught my eye. Kamahl's Druidic Vow could potentially be very good, but in the right build. Maybe not this one. Broken Bond is another one that I'm looking at. Pseudo-ramp on a Naturalize seems ok - with Nissa I usually don't have a problem keeping my hand full, so getting to put that extra land on board wouldn't be bad.
Then there's Sylvan Awakening which will mos def get into my Kamahl build (if I ever make that again:))
Holy ***** that modern deck. I love it. Makes me want to play modern again (I love prison as an archetype, play bridges and moons in modern right now and play Pox in Legacy). How good would you say it is?
But yeah rogerandover is right, we can't do the LD thing here really. You can try with Plow Under (or Stunted Growth for another similar effect, and also Fallow Earth) and Eternal Witness loops, but you'll draw a lot of hate (LD is probably the most hated thing EDH) and you won't be able actually lock anyone until you get to 1v1, since in multiplayer that thing is much harder to do. We're all about fog-lock, since it is more global
If you like the bouncing-creatures like wildebeast, I think toctheyounger has a thread around here with a more creature-focused list that ran them, though not sure he still runs them now
For the spoilers, Kamahl's Druidic Vow seems great. Big mana for a ton of permanents which is also what we have tons of. Multani, Yavimaya's avatar is kind of cool as a win condition that can recur. I agree on Broken Bond being solid, though I'm a sucker for instants and I think split second is better so I'd rather play Krosan Grip... Sylvan Awakening is great as a fog of sorts than can also make a ton of damage. I'm into it.
Roger, did you switch to our Queen and Savior Nissa? I thought you were still on the Kamahl plan
Oh, I had not noticed that Squallmonger didn't hit itself. I just saw it as a worse Ifh-Bíff Efreet. I'm actually very inclined to play this aswell!
