Decided to play an elemental edh finally after mulling this over. Went with a pretty devoted control and destruction package since Horde of Notions can bring critters back. I also chose the cycle for elemental incarnations and Forces because they have some great abilities to play with in multiplayer. Vigor, Guile, Hostility, and Purity all have corresponding cards that use their second abilities, too. Comments are welcome, as are suggested substitutions.
As for potential cuts, some of the cards I would consider are as follows:
Celestial Force - the life gain is just not enough impact Verdant Force - works better in a token deck Guile - imo need more counterspells to make this work Ashling, the Extinguisher - needs more sources of evasion to become good Fusion Elemental - it's fun, but just not impactful Meadowboon - imo, not enough impact Mournwhelk - not a very good card. Casting cost is too high Nevermaker - imo, difficult to pull off unless you have many sources of flicker Slithermuse - imo, difficult to pull off. Walker of the Grove - imo, only good with many sources of flicker Nova Chaser - love this card, but imo just too slow. - needs haste to be relevant. Supreme Exemplar - it's cute, but imo just too slow. Spine of Ish Sah - in 5 colour, you have access to much better removal. Conflux - it's painfully expensive for it's effect. Maelstrom Nexus would be more applicable. Treacherous Terrain - imo, not enough impact Earthquake - imo, not enough impact Flame Rift - imo, not enough impact
With the high curve, I'd recommend 40 mana sources unless you are able to add more sources of ramp.
So...there's some ideas for you. I certainly don't mean to stomp on your deck idea. To be honest, one of my first Hordes deck looked very similar to what you currently have posted. There's nothing wrong with that...just that it won't be all that competitive in the average meta. If you're going for 'fun' points, you scored 10/10 imo, cause I love the elemental cycles that are available.
OK, after a bunch of changes today, I like the direction now. More elementals in the 5 and 6 range, less in the 7 and 8 range, making the ramp more effective. More functionality, too. Many thanks to GFireflyE, the suggestions added a lot of coolness to the deck list and definitely added fun. Very much in line with my philosophy. This is a casual deck, so I'm passing up a bunch of stuff that will make it competitive, but I like what I've added for sure. If you have some more fun suggestions beyond this, please send them my way. Thanks.
So I settled on the list below, I have it assembled, and I’m already noticing some trends. First, mana floods in fast with the ramp, reliably getting my bigs in ahead of curve. Horde of Notions is often the second creature in, meaning the color diversity is fine. Rite of Replication is a game breaker, already raping Magmatic Force, Celestial Force, Greenwarden of Murasa, Dread, and Fusion Elemental. I’ve seen the Vigor/Chain Reaction combo come up twice already. Torrent Elemental will win games, at least against my group. Earthquake/Hostility is godly, even more so when Purity is also out. Finally, Baleful Force and Cyclonic Rift are 100% deserving of the hype I’ve seen.
Can’t wait to test this on my friends, it’s going to be too fun and a half. Woot.
I made this deck (with 15% adjustments). Would like to know what cards you would put in there with some new releases and stuff. Awesome deck, thank you for the idea!

I've run Horde's elementals in the past. Some cards worth considering:
- Embodiment of Spring - to help with the ramp
- Fertilid - to help with the ramp
- Wolf of Devil's Breach - can produce some solid aggro and help seed into the graveyard the bigger elementals for Horde's to grab.
- Torrent Elemental - simply shuts down an opponent. This is a high threat card.
- Greenwarden of Murasa - helps with recursion
- Rubblehulk - the Bloodrush is powerful with Hordes, and then comes back with Hordes too
- Soul of the Harvest - solid for card draw
- Maelstrom Wanderer - this is a Horde's wincon.
- Omnath, Locus of Rage - really good rattlesnake card if you have the protection for him.
- Tempt with Vengeance - can be very fun
- Hoofprints of the Stag - is surprising difficult to deal with
- Rite of Replication - when one is just not enough
- Evolutionary Leap - helps seed your graveyard with good stuff with Hordes
- Chromatic Lantern - is quite important
- Elemental Bond - this card is quickly becoming a staple
As for potential cuts, some of the cards I would consider are as follows:
Celestial Force - the life gain is just not enough impact
Verdant Force - works better in a token deck
Guile - imo need more counterspells to make this work
Ashling, the Extinguisher - needs more sources of evasion to become good
Fusion Elemental - it's fun, but just not impactful
Meadowboon - imo, not enough impact
Mournwhelk - not a very good card. Casting cost is too high
Nevermaker - imo, difficult to pull off unless you have many sources of flicker
Slithermuse - imo, difficult to pull off.
Walker of the Grove - imo, only good with many sources of flicker
Nova Chaser - love this card, but imo just too slow.
Treacherous Terrain - imo, not enough impact
