Deck History and Summary:
When i got back into MTG in 2012 i didn't really feel like spending too much money on cards, because i didn't know if i'd go back to my hiatus (guess i didn't), so i turned to my boxes of cards from when i stopped playing in 2008. In there i found Rhys the Redeemed and loads of Elves from dismantled 60 card decks, so i thought i'd go with that. That deck didn't turn out to be anything significant, but including several updates it stayed a lot longer than it propably should've.
A few years and decks in i felt like my first two decks, Rhys the Redeemed and Oona, Queen of the Fae (Faeries (U/B) control), hadn't aged well and should turn into something else. So in late 2016 i came up with the idea of building a full cycle of mono colored decks. After turning Rhys the Redeemed into GEzuri, Renegade Leader and Oona, Queen of the Fae into UTalrand, Sky Summoner i built WOdric, Master Tactician (now Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle), BGonti, Lord of Luxury and RZada, Hedron Grinder over the course of a year. The full cycle was finished with CTraxos, Scourge of Kroog in 2018.
The deck is just what you've might expect of an Elf deck. Best case you drop Arbor Elf/Boreal Druid/Elvish Mystic/Fyndhorn Elves/Joraga Treespeaker/Llanowar Elves on turn 1 and start outpacing everyone from then on. Hall of Gemstone is one of the few unusual cards in the deck, but since it makes hell of a G impression of a lite Blood Moon it's something i don't want to miss out on. I also grew very fond of Benefactor's Draught, because even if you don't kill on that turn you're able to draw a ton of cards if they're forced to block.
Let me know what you think of the deck! I'm always happy to get input.
WAR was one of the first sets in a while that came with more than a single card for this deck, so i just had to get me some toys. Return to Nature is a fantastic common and strictly better than the classic Naturalize, which already is a solid card itself.
Since i'm not too fond of too many unlimited tutors per deck, Vivien's Arkbow is the perfect fit of strength and randomness. Same goes for Vivien, Champion of the Wilds' - ability, while she doubles as a second Yeva, Nature's Herald.
ps. I'm looking to include Vivien's first iteration Vivien Reid as well, but her price is currently inflated due to her being standard legal.
