Basically the idea is this serves as Show and Tell 5-8. All you need to do is check their hand for no creatures either with a Gitaxian Probe or a Despise and you can drop your Emrakul or Blightsteel or whatever fatty you want into play for free.
It's seeing play in Classic in Oath decks. Do you think it could potentially see play in Legacy?
My gut says no, but if you have a reliable way to strip the creatures from their hand, it could work. I would imagine that creature density in legacy is much higher than in classic, however.
The creature count is much too high in legacy for it to be useable and having to strip cards for other player's hands makes it too much work. Hive mind / sneak attack are better companions for show and tell.
As a sideboard card it could be very strong, but I feel like it's going to be dead mainboard too often. Most decks are creature based right now, and the premiere combo decks are basically Reanimator and Dredge so that's not helping any either.
I remember one tournament where a guy played 4 of these in the SB for the landstill matchup (they don't have creatures) but that was when landstill was a large percentage of the field at the tournament he went to. Right now the gambit is quite bad as you're unlikely to get emrakul/progenitus into play with it. It's definitely not maindeck material though.

Well it does see sideboard play in Black\Red Reanimator decks. It Works well against Miracels, witch is why i think that it sees Legacy play in the first Place, since Miracels proberly is the best deck in Legacy right now. Plus it`s good against Lands witch arguably is Reanimator decks worst match up. So it`s a very good sideboard card but it is very highly matchup dependent, unlike other sideboard Cards, you have to really know the metagame, what you are likely to play against, when you play Cards like Stronghold Gambit and Cards like Pithing Needle
The card is a very good sideboard option, it is very bad if you use it against the fair decks of Legacy, but against Miracles and Lands and proberly it is also proberly fine against Manaless Dredge, it can be fine against Burn. After all the card is just a bad Show and Tell. And that still makes it a super strong card. So i see this card as being useful against Topless Miracles, Lands, Manaless Dredge, And Pox decks since they play very few Creatures
