When I focus on what to get, I do it decks at a time, I don't really worry about staples I might be missing as a whole to the format because if I go out of my way to get stuff I don't have, It just sits in a folder if it's not going directly into a deck.
only a few years ago people discovered this under utilized card called show and tell (and I would know first hand I remember buying them for 2 dollars a piece!)
now adays we try and run this card like a tarmogoyf of combo decks, with the printings of emrakul, the aeons torn, progenitus, hive mind, allowed us to redicover dreams halls and more, we came to realize letting our opponent get a free permanent wasn't a bad thing either.
so my question now is, as title mentioned, which show and tell deck is best?
Hive mind?
Dream halls?
Sneak and show?
hypergenisis?

I'm really new to magic in general, and brand new to legacy. Is the UW Stoneblade deck still good in legacy format? Forgive me for seeming very unintelligent but I'm pretty sure UW means blue/white but i see some green stuff in here so it really confuses me. I really want to play a Deck with Jace, the mind sculptor b/c i won 3 of him off a 10 dollar bet at FNM last week. Anything that you guys could help me with i would really appreciate, thanks!
Stoneblade is still a deck, and is still capable of winning lots of matches. Its going to require some experience to play it well and some knowledge of the format. However, one positive is that its made up primarily of staples from both blue and white. I think the list you posted is a little dated, and I would probably make some changes such as swamping GoST for Vendilion Cliques and find room for main deck Spell Pierces. I would check some of the more recent lists for something to go by as a starting point.

sneak & show is currently the best, it basically wins when it resolves something, more consistent than dream halls

I'm a frequent legacy player, but I have a friend that wants to attend in a legacy Grand Prix next month... If you guys are wondering... its in Ghent Belgium...
So here comes the problem... I dont know what I should build for him, he is very difficult.
He doesnt want to play blue control, because he finds that too difficult, Combo is also not his style (also difficult).
I once gave him a Maveric deck, but he didnt like it. He refuses to play burn, because he wants to play magic, not solitaire... (his words)...
Dark Confidant is also a card that is an absolute no-no... as many cards that can give you a warning during your upkeep (he once dropped out a PTQ while playing with dark confidant and was at 4-1 (7 rounds tournament) because if he forgot 1 more trigger of dark confidant he would get a match loss...
So does anyone know an easy deck to play with these restrictions?
I was planning to give him a Rock variant with more then the usual planeswalkers and cut the confidants (a brew i made myself and is doing pretty wel during testing)

that or RUG, he could try Elves or Goblins as well since they are more Aggro Synergy and the combo for Elves doesn't always have to win you the game when you decide to combo off

Well sneak and show is more consitant but hypergenesis lists are basically belcher version of the deck in that it is pretty reasonable to go off turn 2 and turn 1 has a chance to.
Hypergenesis has some consistancy issues in the lack or cantrips and ca issues but then again it also basically has 12 show and tells and everything else can be a fat dude or a way to protect the combo.
I'm looking into playing Legacy. Standard bores me right now and I've been watching a lot of the GP and IQ matches recently online. It just looks like a lot more fun than Standard, and the decks don't change every year which is nice.
Any advice on what decks to play, what staples to start with, etc?
I think this has everything you are looking for. Other than that, I recommend just looking around the established subforum and viewing the different decks.
I think the most important thing to do is find a deck that you like. The cheapest way to do this is probably go online and either goldfish some hands or play on Cockatrice or something. There's also a lot of sub-forums in here that detail a lot about most Legacy decks.
Once you do that, you can start the process of acquiring staples. This will probably be pricey, but if you have a lot of Standard staples you are fine getting rid of, you might get some good value (i.e. a few expensive standard stapes for a dual land, etc.). If you are looking to go all-in and jump right in, the best thing you can invest in are probably things like Blue Dual Lands, Fetch Lands, Force of Wills, Wastelands, etc. since quite a few established decks use these pieces. It's all very expensive, but the good news is that since this is an Eternal Format, once you have the staples, you rarely have to spend much with each new set.
Well since you seemed to be better informed than simply trying to jump into the format blind I recomend figuring out what TYPE of deck you think you want to play.
For example if you want to run a control deck you will eventually need to get FOWs reguardless of other colors etc.
Dredge and alot of storm combos require leds (budget dredge doesn't but it hasn't placed well)
if you want a more aggressive take and run green based aggro decks your probably going to need green sun's zenith.
Edit: if you have a friend that plays legacy try out a deck with him with proxies or something. Legacy doesn't have the same upkeep cost as standard but dropping 1k on rug delver and finding out you don't like the deck is stupid. (I built goblins then relized it wasn't my type of deck once.)
I never understood the 'collect staples' drive. Although it would be lovely, at some distant future date, to have enough of them to construct numerous decks, for most of the foreseeable future this only saddles the newcomer with purchasing lots of very expensive cards that won't get to see play. That's not an efficient use of resources.
Better to either stop by the budget office to pick up a really cheap deck to just play with until one has figured out which deck one wants to construct, just read through the forums and find which deck is most appealing, and build precisely the deck one wants to play.
Definitely proxy decks up before buying into them. I bought the pieces for Reanimator and regretted it soon after because I grew bored of the deck's strategy and found that my other graveyard based deck (Dredge) was way more fun to play. I kept the Underground Seas and Show and Tells, though, which was nice.
Also, try to tailor your purchases to pieces that can be used by several decks. Investing in a playset of Wastelands, for example, will serve you better in the long run than investing in a playset of Sneak Attacks because the former fits into more decks (unless you really like Sneak and Show).

I'd say that is the biggest thing. You don't want to invest a ton of money into a deck and then realize in 2 weeks that you hate playing the deck.
I would wait till the Legacy GP this weekend is done, take a look at what decks placed, proxy them up and then play test them to see which one you like/enjoy playing.h

Also, be aware that many people experience a point in getting into a deck where they regret picking up that deck. It's rare for an actual deck to immediately win as much as one initially expected it to. This is the truest for Combo decks. Pilots often dream of quick, crushing, and cool wins and pick up the decks on that basis.
The reality is that it takes long hours of practice and experience before the results start feeling impressive.
As to other, more fringe decks, it goes double. I started playing Pox. At first I thought it would be amazing, but I wound up losing constantly. Gradually I got the kinks ironed out, but it was a painful process of working on a deck I didn't feel very good about. Eventually I crafted it into the terrifying beast it was meant to be and it's my 2nd favorite deck to play now, but there was a good month there when I was kicking myself for buying into it.
I'm wondering which one of these decks YOU think I should pick up to handle my local meta!
Decks: Nic fit, Merfolk, SI, Dredge (with leds ofc), B/W stoneforge, team italia, something else in this price range? (600usd ish)
Now I'ma give you some infos; I've played reanimator, rug delver, b/w stoneforge, counter top, stiflenought and some more.
For the meta I will be faceing, I will meet something in the lines of; reanimator, sneak show, tes, combo elves, forgem. combo, maverick, maybe 1 nic fit, team america, rug delver, maybe some countertop variants.
I'm so-what "easly" bored so I would like to have something that works with the meta and still be interesting and challangeing.
I'm juste hopeing for some answer upon what will work against this meta and maybe some personal preferences.
R3xr0th that post is a bit confusing. You've played some of the best deck's and imo some of the funnest in Legacy. I'd like to help but you listed some competitive decks that are solid across the field. Just play Sneak Show and win a lot!
