Ball lightning was once part of sligh, but today, ball lightning sadly doesn't make the cut, for the reason that it doesn't give you any real board presence that most creatures in goyfsligh has. Even if you dealt 6 damage on one turn, in the succeeding turns, without any other creature on the board, you basically drag the game longer and make the game unfavorable for you.
I usualy play burn in legacy tournaments but after i won and got second in two consecutive tournaments to much hate to red with people even playing Circle of protections in md. So i decided to play Goyfsligh next tourney and start wih turn one mountain and lavamancer and people thinking ooo again mono red burn and crush them with goyfs. I looked at this list http://www.deckcheck.net/deck.php?id=28373 and liked it allot but i was wondering i only have 4 blood stained mires as my fetch lands would that be ok and playing 4 mountains instaed of wooded foothills. and only got my hands on 2 lavamancers and i dont know what to put instead but the rest is basicaly the same list. Any sugestions
Im helping Techno with his deck...I want your opinions on a few swaps...I dont think Mogg Fanatic is that good, and since he wants to keep it R/g for budgetary and consistency reasons, what do you guys think of Quirion Dryad in that slot? We're also saying Blood Moon for Rift Bolt...
Keldon Marauders would be a good card on your main. Other than that your deck looks solid. You have a good sideboard as well. It's just a matter of getting lucky or unlucky with your M/U. Also have you ever tried browbeat?

thanks for the advice.

quirion dryad is pretty bad, id go so fat as to play elvish visionary over it as this will have a more lasting impact on the game. shusher is dead in many matchups, and irrelevant in more. i guess if you really like it versus counterbalance go ahead, but at our store where we've evolved past countertop already, this is probably not needed.

LOL funny how I was gonna suggest somewhat the same as the post above me. I guess he told you first but yeah, shusher is a good SB actually not maindeck. If your meta if full of blue then maybe you can SB 3 shushers. Also dryad isn't good at all so replace that with the options given to you.
just realized i forgot hellspark elemental. instead of magma jet/incinerate, play that.

sigh... no, it is not. If you're playing sligh, dryad is tarmogoyf 4-8, she needs to stay in play 1 turn and she is 3/3, then she gets a counter each turn. She can be killed by bounce, true, but she remains the best creature for the deck after goyf.
Shusher is a bad card in the side, red elemental blast is just better, while the white splash is useful just to keep 2/3 pridemages MD.
4 goyf, 3 driad, 2/3 pridemages, 4 nacatl, 4 keldon marauders are enough, the you need burn.
if I decide not to do the white splash for budgetary reasons, is the deck still playable?

yes, it loses some cards (nacatl, helix if played, qasali) but they are easily replaced (kird ape or figure of you have figure, random burn, krosan grip/hull breach/pulverize/etc).
It will suffer from circles a bit more, but it will make the price for progress addiction MD even better (also, less colors and less nonbasics = less troubles from moon and back to basics).
so technically, RG version is more stable...and thus has its own advantages

as far as the dryad, i've never seen this card be relevant. it is the absolute worst top deck in the world. imagine someone using wrath/deed, you having an empty hand or even 1 spell, and you top deck the dryad. it's worse than a grizzly bear. miracle grow decks didn't function that well, and that was when this guy was in his heyday. you'd probably be better off with burning tree shaman in that slot. it diversifies your curve, and messes up divining top and other combos.

You know he is just using R/G right? Why are you suggesting Pridemage? Why dryad when it only gets 1+1 for red spells? I don't get what your suggesting here.
If he decides to splash W then sure qasali, nacatl and maybe dryad but like what he said it's just R/G for now.
techno, the dryad sucks. if you want, we can play games and you can see it for yourself.

I think R/G sligh is solid already. There is no need to splash W because you just really want to burn their heads and stomp them with your goyf. I build this deck before(substituted a zoo deck instead) and R/G sligh is more stable than RGW.

imo:
-4 quirion dryad
-4 vexing shusher
+4 keldon maruaders
+4 magma jet/incinerate
board:
-2 red elemental blast
+2 pyroblast

I don't really like Hellspark....seems like it is just a dead card when Magma Jet and Incinerate can be very useful
and, is Quirion Dryad really bad now?
I guess you are right about Vexing Shusher, but I would like to play it in side...
and ok, Pyroblast, Red Elemental Blast, all the same thing I'll play 2 of each...
