So I played 4 rounds today (3 win, 1 Loss). Ended up with no prize due to tiebreak.
Round 1: White Stax
Game 1, I kept a decent hand with a couple of land, Goyf and a FOW + 2 blue cards. I countered his first attempt at CotV on 1. Resolved an early Goyf which quickly got boosted to 5/6, let his second CotV on resolved, and tapped Goyf and Bob ftw a couple of turns later.
Game 2, I kept a somewhat scetchy hand, after mulling down to 6. He manage to get some lock-pieces down and the game dragged on quite some time, I could have pulled a win, but I was set back by Suppresion Field and Geddon finished my last final hopes.
Game 3, pretty simalr to game 2. I felt I did some minor weak choices this time, but I felt that it was all in all, fair match which I felt I could have done some thing more out of.
I boarded in, 4 Spell Pierce, 2 Trygon Predator (which never saw play), and 2 Extirpates (which also never saw play).
Round 2: UG "something"
After a somewhat disappointing loss, I went on with a 2-0 vicotory that didn't really do much except play lands, some shroud creatures with auras and cold-eyed selkie, which taken down by my many counter magic. Goyf finished game 1, and Mongoos + Bob did the dirty work game 2.
Boarded in: 2 Trygon Predator and 2 Diabolic Edict
Round 3: UB/g Re-animate
Game 1, again, I gambled a bit on my first 7. Kept a 1 land card which had good answers on the draw. I knew what I was facing, but unfortunately my top deck 2nd land was a wasteland instead of any other land. I manage to FoW his first attempt at reanimation, but unfortunatly he top decked another one the turn after and won.
Game 2, I kept a much nicer hand. He starts off with 2 Lotus petal and a swamp. He tries to reanimate thinking he had played around Daze and Spell Pierce, I replied with a spell pierce, and stifle on his petal. He tries to FOW which was met with a FOW of my own. He was down to two cards. I had Bob in play, and cruiced to victory a few turns later.
EDIT: Stifle on mana abilities is obviously illegal. Unfortunately for me and my opponent, none of us noticed this at that time. But to my defense, I had a Daze in hand and an un-cracked Delta in play. So I could have first, tapped an island for mana, played Daze with its alternative cost, and play Spell Pierce. He only had 2 Lotus Petal as mana options, and 2 cards in hand after trying to FOW, one of which was a Daze.
I think the end result would have been the same, but unfortuantely mistakes does happen. And I'm sorry on my part.
Game 3, pretty similar to game 2 except that I had even better control this time, I had counter back-up, Extirpate, Diabolic Edict + creatures on the board at all time.
Boarded in: 4 Spell Pierce, 2 Extirpate (3 in the last game), 2 Diabolic Edict, 2 Rushing River
Round 4: WGR Zoo
Game 1, I'm on the play, I Wasted his land, and Stifled his other, he was stuck on 2 for the rest of the game, which means easy task for my many counter-spells.
Game 2, he lets me play first, I kept drawing the wrong counter magic it seems the entire round. I try to hold off, play Bob in order to dig for Explosives to take care of his many 1 drops. Unfortunately after 3+ turns with bob in play, I can't seem to find a 4th land and/or Explosives.
Game 3, I'm on the play again, quite nice start with stifleing his fetch, but I'm stuck on mana 2 mana quite some time, and can't seem to find my Smothers. The game got quite exciting for a moment, but I manage to counter most of his threats (Elspeth, Pridemage etc.) and manage to land a Goyf and Mongoose. I manage to protect my goyf from Path to Exile once before he manage to get one through, but fortunately I had manage to get Bob into play which was followed with another Bob and more Goyfs for the late win. My life total was down to 4 before I manage to pull it off (mostly due to my own Bobs drawing FoWs from the top of my library
Boarded in 2 Spell Pierce. Didn't really have much against this deck, I could have boarded Needles, but felt that I could manage to take care of Elspeth via permission.
In the end, the White Stax player won the mini-tournament due to having the best tie-breakers, he got some help from me since I managed to climb back to the top tables, but he is a friend of mine, so I'm not complaining He won a Fire/Lightning pre-con deck which I actually wanted to add some pimpage to my cube!
Anyway, I was very pleased with my over-all performance with the deck, I could probably have done better, but thats lesson learned for next time!
EDIT: The other 2 top 4 decks was Mono Blue Merfolk. I was hoping to face these decks during the tournament as I feel I have quite good MU vs Merfolk, at least good experience playing against it. I have yet to lose to a Merfolk deck with any deck I've played in a Legacy tournament yet.
Yeah I'm pretty sure you can't stifle lotus petal. Illegal play, but no one noticed it or read the card because it says it in italicized text (mana abilities can't be countered.) Overall nice report though.
We run 4 ponder and 4 brainstorm. We can assemble stifle nought pretty easily; if you're uneasy, SB a singleton trickbind. And against ichorid you can always just let the nought die to its trigger to exile bridges lol I love that play. Despite it being sorcery speed.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Oops! That is true, its illegal! In any case, I had another daze in hand and enough mana to play around it as well so the turn out would have been the same, but It was unfortunate that I made such an obvious mistake..
During the last couple of days I also tested against Enchantress, BG Rock-ish, Zoo and Sneak & Tell. Out of the four archetypes, I seem to have most problems against Enchantress. My MD and SB had way to much useless cards against this MU. Its possible to do something about it, I'm sure. But at the moment, my current build doesn't do well against this type of deck.
I'm not sure why, but i'm having an urge to try the new Glissa in this deck.
It's combat pwning skills is a blast vs merfolk and random stuff like the Rock and vs Countertop.
The only downside is her but of 3, wich is sad vs zoo.
Her recursion abillity, when paired with EE is a great CA engine and helps vs Zoo if you can stick her for a turn.

glissa is so greedy with the manabase that's her drawback. If only she was a 3/4...lol that'd be great bolt dodging and powercreep would be talked about everywhere.
If you fear enchantress, use back to nature. And try to counter their enchantress effects if you can; Diabolic edict is good against the argothian so if you have that MD don't counter the argothian if you have edict to handle her. If they get the engine online, use back to nature or that 2G sorcery card that reads "put all enchantments on top of their owners library" can't remember the name though. Counter replenish at all costs. Board in spell pierces if you have them to help the MU somewhat because spell pierce on turn 3 enchantress's presence is sick. Board out all non edict removal and ponders perhaps. The dreadnought plan is bad here because they can tutor for oblivion ring rather easily. Or runed halo naming dreadnought for that matter. Stifle is also a kind of double edged sword here; it can be really good if you stifle a fetch, but they only run 4 fetches those being windswept heaths. You can stifle enchantress triggers but that is card disadvantage. And then there's sterling grove to stifle but they generally don't tutor something up unless it's an enchantress effect because they desperately need one.

And also, I found that It was an auto loss pre-board if they landed a Moat. As none of my critters fly, and I can't get rid of a 4cc enchantment once it drops.
RE: Sorcery that puts all enchantments on top of owners library: Harmonic Convergence is actually an instant, so even better!
Hey guys. Ive been trying to find another deck I enjoy outside of merfolk and Ive stumbled upon testing different thresh decks. I havnt tested new horizons much but Ive been testing dark and Canadian a bit.
I know red is looked down on because it lacks being able to handle big beaters which makes sense, but the dark version has frustrated me. My main issue is not having threats with dark. Confidant is a bomb but I find a lot of times I find multiples of him and cant afford the double burn effect. Ive also had times where he sticks but I get burnt down still cause I cant find another threat or removal answers to other beaters.
Between running into multiples when I cant afford to drop them both and having times where a 2/1 body cant take me anywhere, Ive been debating dropping his numbers. I dont consider myself a bad magic player but is trimming him down a bad idea?
Im thinking of running a creature base like this
4 x goyf
4 x mongoose
2 x Bob
2 x Utility (probably clique or predator depending on meta/preferance)
Im also curious on how Inquisition of Kozilek has tested for some of you. Ive enjoyed it but it can be a bad topdeck when the opponent doesnt have a big hand...Ive had it catch nothing before at times. And also its frustrated me as a turn one play. Turn one is a great time for it since you can see there full hand and pick a fat target, but not having mana open for stifle, snare, peirce, brainstorm really pisses me off. What yall think?
Running jace 2.0 with 18 lands seems terrible...next level threshold runs 21 lands and is better suited to run jace as a 2 of. Us? Not so much.
Also love this deck. It's just so strong lol. Unlike canadian thresh where resolved fatties are usually a huge problem. In here we just go for the throat/smother/ghastly demise it.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that to most people who play this deck, Mongoose is probably considered the weakest card in it. I know I'm constantly looking for replacements, because a 1/1 for a few turns and then a 3/3 shroud is just not impressive. Control doesn't want to waste spot removal on this (even if it wasn't shrouded) because it loses to all of their creatures, and we have better targets for that stuff like Bob and Goyf.
If tapping three land wasn't such a big deal for this deck, I'd replace them straight-up with GSZs.
Speaking of needle, what about the new needle on a stick? Could it be a viable sideboard option? Our deck is probably not aggressive enough to warrant a creature like that though. (Just a thought)
regarding sideboard, my board changes all the time. But extirpate, needle and some back-up removals is always nice to have. Artifact hate and dreadnoughts are also good IMO.
I think SB dreadnought are better than having them MD, but I'm currently debating (still) if 2 or 3 copies are optimal.
Whats the general trend regarding Dark Thresh these days? And does anyone know of any recent top 8 finishes? I've been asked to update the primer, and I would be greatful if you (dark thresh community) could help me out on this.
I believe that there isn't really much new tech going on since this deck is pretty tight. Perhaps some new sideboard for the SOM/MD meta?
I have been running null rods out of the sideboard for vial/jitte, countertop, affinity, LED combo and the new MUD decks that are popping up. It is a house.
Finished 5th in a 40 player tournament. The deck list has been added to the 1st post of the Primer as well. It is interesting that he chose not to include Stifle.
I predicted a lot of Dredge this day, so I gambled a bit regarding my sideboard, dedicating a lot, perhaps too much against this MU, but I justified the two extra Tormod's Crypt knowing I can use them against Reanimator and Enchantress as well.
Lost first round against Painter Stone + Punishing Fire combo with Goyf. First game I was stuck on two lands for very long time of the game, and lost to Goyf beatdown. He didn't reveal too much of his strategy during this game, so I had no idea how to board or what i played when I was considering my board plan. All I knew, he played punishing fire, and goyf beat down with Force of Will.
I boarded inn 4 Spell Pierce. Game two, to my surprise was quite different. He started manipulating his library with SDT, and dropped down his combo and it was too late for me to do much about it. I tried Force of Willing it, but he had one back, I had one more FOW in hand, but that wast the only card I had. Could have won the game had I managed to prevent Grindstone from hitting the table. And boarded in more against him game 3. But he deserved the win in this game to be honest. The guy went undefeated all the way up to top 8.
Record: 0 Win, 1 Loss
Round two, I got paired up against a good friend of mine, I didn't know what he was playing though. He always plays his home brew to tourneys. Unfortunately we both messed up in game 1 due to lack of focus, and both got a warning from the judge. Its a long story, and I'd rather not talk about it. Very awkward mistake from us
Anyway, I won game as he was playing some sort of Grim MonolithPower Artifact Combo. I managed to counter his first 2 Grims, and Wastelanded 2 of his lands. I dropped Trygon Predator, and Bob attacked for the win.
Game 2, was much the same, except with no dorky mistakes from us. Wasteland, counter spells and stifle saved me in this game, and I can't stress enough how important keeping Bob in play for this deck is.
Record 1 Win, 1 Loss
Round three, I got paired against dredge, who manage to beat me down in two or three turns.
Game 2, I boarded in Spell Pierce, Jailer and Crypt. Landed a turn 2 Jailer and beat him down with the 2/1 who later got help from Goyf.
Game 3, same set up, kept a more sketchy hand though. I managed to draw some good top decks, and landed a Jailer who was killed by dark blast soon after. Somehow, I managed to keep the force from overwhelming me for a few turns, Ponder, Brainstorm, Ponder managed to get me Tormod's Crypt and won me the game.
Record 2 Win, 1 Loss
Round four, got paired against a friend of mine again, who was playing White Angel Stompy. First game was really exciting for me, as he had 1 chalice set on 1, and another set on 2 and was beating me down with an Aven Mindcensor, equipped with Sword of Body and Mind milling me down, and draining my life down to 3 or 4 life. But I managed to get rid of his Sword through predator, and took down chalice set on 2 the turn after, and he was out of gas after that and I won.
Game 2 I boarded in extirpates and Spell Pierce. I countered his first attempt on chalice for 1, and countered the second. Dropped a Goyf, he drops baneslayer who got edicted, and playes Armageddon in hopes to top deck better than me as he had 2 lands straight after geddon.
Goyf kept hitting his face and couldn't find a removal.
Record 3 Win, 1 Loss
Round five, I got paired up against another Dredge, and the games went pretty much the same as the previous dredge MU I had, except this one was a whole lot slower, more weired and funnier.
Game 1, I kept a 1 land + wasteland hand. Never saw another mana before I lost in round 5 or 6 or so.
Game 2, kept a really sketchy hand as well, but I had Jailer in hand if I managed to lucky draw any other land than wasteland. but I drew 2 wastelands before the colored one. But luckily, I still managed to win it as he mulled down to 4 and I countered his first attempt at dropping stuff in the yard. He managed to beat me down to 9 with his imp before I established control of the game.
Game 2, same thing, but this time I had a normal hand with lands and all that.
Record 4 Win, 1 Loss (Next Top 8 elimination)
Top 8 was my goal for the day, and I managed to accomplish just that. I played the quarters against a White Caw Po deck with splash black for Vindicate and Bob. Never played against this deck before, and I didn't really understand how to play against it before thinking about the MU before bed time. Its a very favorable MU for me actually, and all 3 of our games took forever, because I would take out all his weenies, and he just kept coming back with more. In the end he managed to push through with equipped flyers and won game 1. The funny thing in this game is that I drew loads of counters, and ZERO creatures during a long battle.
Game 2, more balanced, game this time, I drew a good mix of removals, and Goyf, Bob and Trygon ftw.
Game 3, pretty much as game 1, only longer, more removals from my side, and Pithing needles on Jitte, and Sword of body and mind. I didn't draw any creatures again. But I could manage to reset the game, if I had one more land, with Engineered Explosives.
All in all, I was happy with the deck, although it needs new meta game tweaks for next tourney. I would probably have won more with Dreadnoughts, which might be reintroduced again next time.
Its a start, but I would try to add more control in there. And 4 Mox Diamond seems a lot, if needed at all. You don't actually have anything in there you want to accelerate.
Mox diamond should not be played as a full set in a deck with 20 lands. Chrome mox would work better but that's unneeded (we play very little land because we usually don't need that much land in play to win.)
Nice job D3@D. Shame you couldn't get there against caw go but dems the ropes I guess.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Thanks, I felt that most of my loss was due to either mana-screw or not being able to pressure the opponent with creatures.
I'm a bit torn between 10 or 12 creatures in the deck as most of the time, 1 resolved creature is enough to win the game. On the other hand, playing more creatures also means that you can have the "luxury" of not needing to protect them as much, freeing up some of your counter attention to other spells your opponent might play.
I'd revert back to 4x Mongoose if only they weren't too small a body in the current meta-game.

Very awkward mistake from us
Anyway, I won game as he was playing some sort of Grim Monolith Power Artifact Combo.
