Crusader obviously takes a bit longer to drop and get going but his evade is nice and fills the 3CC spot nicely; not sure whatelse I'd put to be honest.
I was thinking about Rancor instead of Mutagenic Growth; kinda liked playing with Groundswell but I'm absolutely open to testing.

Groundswell without fetches is just going to be subpar I fear. Especially compared to Rancor.
And Mutagenic Growth is nice because it's free. Free pump spells are always nice for stompy, especially in infect.
Also Pendelhaven is nice in infect stompy.
Obviously the faster you can lay down 10 poison, the better. Which is why I'm skeptical of Crusader. His slots could be used for even more pump spells, making the clock shorter. Ideally it would take till t4 to even attack with the Crusader, that's just really slow. But test away my friend. haha
Try Khamul's Infect primer here in Legacy>Delevoping, it's amazing.
I'm going to play a tournament in 2 weeks with a monogreen version due to budget restrictions. But IMO BG is weaker than UG, because cantrips and counters are better than discard, and Blighted Agent is better than Plague Stinger.
Some minimal control is available in UG with Daze but if I was to build a BUG version it would be almost all in with some evasion, something like this:
IMO you need evasion and power. Flying, protection, shadow, horsemanship, trample and unblockable are nice. Yes, Distortion Strikeis nice, 4-for-1 as you said, but Rancor is less evasive but is a permanent, and pumps more. It's not even a close call in my book (as blue should be considered as a splash anyway) but has the surprise element. If your deck is more control than mine are, it should run well... mainly if you plan to feed FoW too
Any advice/critiques other than that?
That's good though. Trying to innovate and trying new things, if only musing about them, is always good for a player and builder.
I'd say Rancor > Groundswell.
And I'm kinda skeptical about Crusader, but that could just be me.
Other than that.

I'm testing out the deck(s) without Crusader at the moment; I have a BG version obviously as well as a BUG one - let's see what happens.

4 Glistener Elf
4 Blighted Agent
4 Plague Stinger
Pumps (17)
4 Berserk
4 Invigorate
4 Vines of Vastwood
4 Groundswell
1 Might of Old Krosa
4 Lotus Petal
4 Brainstorm
3 Gitaxian Probe
2 Sylvan Library
Lands (18)
4 Inkmoth Nexus
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Tropical Island
3 Bayou
2 Pendelhaven
1 Forest
Obviously replacing old duals with Breeding Pool and Overgrown Tomb if you're not filthy rich
I thought this deck in about 10 minutes and will put it on the primer as well, it must be tuned for sure but I guess that's a good try.
Cheers!
Commander: Child of Alara BURGW, Adeliz, the Cinder Wind UR
Tiny Leaders: Gwafa, Hazid Profiteer UW
Regular Pauper: Stompy G, Mono-G Tron G, Infect G
If you're running UG Infect though, why not Distortion Strike? Seems like an auto-4-of for me, no?
