Quote from -spooky-I think the captain of the watch numbers should be brought up to 3 or maybe even 4. Shes just way too powerful, and you have plenty of mana to cast her.
the biggest problem with the deck that I see is that Big red can play cards like Magus of the moon and blood moon to disrupt the opponent, and these cards can hit the field turn 1. You have no such cards in this list. =/
I'm wondering if there is anything out there that can replace those 2.
overall this is a cool idea though. I would like to see it progress.
Quote from Saoshyant 4329I'd be quite depressed if the prime green creature tearing up standard right now is a cow
Quote from MTG-FanProblem with Daru Warchief is that he's too expensive for the effect he gives. Kind of underwhelming.
Field Marshal is kind of underwhelming and the weakest Soldier in the deck, imho. Lately I've been trying Mirror Entity in his place for a similar effect with more power.
I had Elspeth in here as a 2-of but subbed in Captain of the Watch. Elspeth is awesome, but you always want to increase the Soldier count for Preeminent Captain and Enlistement officer. However, I want to find out what's best at the higher end of the mana curve- Captain, or Elspeth or maybe even Armageddon.
Quote from TormodModern could never replace Legacy.
The formats are completely different. Its like saying unicycles will replace airplanes.
Random Opponent: Playing against 12 Post Feels like trying to win in Yugioh with no super secret rares.
Quote from KhamulJust to give some input in this thread, there was a list that top 16'd nearly a Month ago:
This guy took a completely different approach to Soldiers - he made a stompy version with lots of lords. I haven't tested a version like this by myself, but as I tried Dragon Stompy, I have to say that the greatest weakness of most Stompy Decks is the huge card disadvantage - which is solved in this Deck with Enlistment Officer.
Any thoughts on that list?
Quote from MTG-FanI have to test both of these versions. If anyone else is testing either one of these versions, please get back to me and post in here regarding your results.
Quote from MTG-FanIt seems as if there are two ways to go about building this:
- Emphasis on the "utility" soldiers with special abilities (Kor Hookmaster, Etched Champion, Soltari Champion) on top of the core of Preeminent Captain+Enlistment Officer+Thalia
- Emphasis on pumping and cost decreasing soldiers (Banneret, Daru Warchief, 4 Marshal) in addition to the Preeminent+Enlistment+Thalia core, with a full playset of the Captain of the Watch because there are multiple ways to put him into play (via Preeminent but also via the cost cutters)
