Burn? I've never lost to it. Chalice into hymn into nether void. With Demon Stompy you have to aggro mull into a devastating hand. Bitterblossom has been under whelming to me. Going to post my new version of the deck.
If you've never lost to burn, you haven't tested enough. No deck has a 100% win rate against any competitive list in its meta.
Which is a good point. I've only played burn twice with this. They would get me to about 8-6 life and I would stabilze. I have played a bunch vs BUG delver, Dredge, OPPS all spells, Miracles, Infect, Elves, Death and Taxes, Leyline combo, Affinity, W/B Stoneforge, 12 Post, Show and Tell, and U/R delver. Infect and U/R delver are hard match ups if they get a fast hand. And treasure cruise of course is a beating. But fair decks get steamrolled. And the sideboard is weighed for combating unfair decks. Today I went 6 to 6 with opps all spells. I would lose first match and then after boarding stop them cold. Turn one chalice at zero and unmask with a bog in hand makes it tough for them to win. Im telling you.. its all about the mulls with this deck. Don't be afraid to go down to 4 cards.
No that's a useless card. You are already running Tombs and Cities. Which can also power out the rest of your cards. Where as Heartless only works for maybe 8 cards in your deck? It would slow you down a turn and a horrible top deck. Pass. AND it makes your clock weaker! The whole point is to lock your opp and then finish him as fast as possible. Think about it this way.. you could be playing Chalice or Void or.... Heartless? Pass.
The worst thing you could possibly do is give this deck a bunch of dead draws by putting one mana spells in it. Either play chalice.. or one mana spells. Not both. Anyway the thing about counters is not to worry about them. Every play this deck makes is a must answer play. So instead of ruining the decklist.. just keep dropping lock pieces and threats.. they will run out of counters.
It seems like overloading on 4 mana 6/6s is the way to go here. Forgoing the plan of Contamination/token maker and Braids seems correct. That combo probably deserves it's own dedicated list, like a Stax build or something.
There are lots of interesting and exciting card choices here:
I totally get Persecutor here. The deck has 14 ways to get rid of him (with Tower being one of the best). Mardu Strike Leader lets you not go hellbent against control, something Red Stompy decks have a problem with. With Dash, you get a nice stream of damage in against Terminus. Much like Rabblemaster, he's a fast turn clock if they can't deal with him, albeit not as fast as Rabblemaster.
Those Victim of Nights are pretty cool, and the match ups where it's a dead card are pretty few and far between (Jund Nic Fit if they play Huntmaster, Walking Dead). Note that it hits Griselbrand!
Hymn over 1 CMC discard like Duress and Thoughtseize seems okay. I'm sure this is simply because of Chalice @ 1.
Love that Engineered Plague. Big card right now--hits Humans against Death and Taxes, Pyromancer decks; Elves against...well Elves; and maybe even elemental in the face of YP. Also, Strike Leader survives Plague on Humans and his tokens are just Warriors, so they dodge it completely (!!!!) I have a hunch that Chains of Mephistopheles is poised to tackle OmniShow and blue based combo decks, which are on the rise. That being said, Chains is commanding almost 400 bucks on SCG and is going anywhere from 250-500 on eBay--it's definitely a huge slope to actually buy into. I've seen some people saying that Underworld Dreams is the best budget analog for Chains, but since the deck has a good suite of discard--you'd want to probably invest in them.
Obliterator seems great, with Chalice at 1 stopping any removal spells they have to trip him up. Although, dat casting cost doe. His counterpart (Phyrexian Negator) is certainly easier to cast, but maybe not as harmonious to the deck's goal. If they have to block him, the taxing things like Sphere and Chalice shine. Him at 2 copies is probably correct, and since we aren't as all in on colorless mana like other Stompy decks are, he actually seems playable.
Overall, this list is one of the best attempts at Demon Stompy I've seen in a very long time, and it's result is certainly something to look at. Awesome job, and awesome deck. Totally sold and buying that set of Foil Strike Leaders now.
Been trying to get suicide black to work and long story short it doesn't.
Instead I've been transitioning towards the stompy route since there is really no way to contend with most legacy decks without some form of lock.
The only things I would change with the list is get rid of obliterator. That mana cost doe indeed. Replace it with like dusk urchins or grinning demon or hell even like lodestone golem.
4 Nether Voids main. It is basically the black Blood Moon, only that we can still keep our mana production live and make all of our spell's uncounterbale with Cavern (name Human first, then Demon). COTV into Void or COTV-Sphere-Void is enough to make some decks concede.
For those with a more modest budget and collection, I'm working on a version with Zombies, namely for Grave Defiler and Undead Warchief, similar to those Mono White versions that play things like Captain of the Watch and Preeminent Captain. Watch for that one later today.
Maybe I should make a new thread for this again. What about Shimian Specter?? It's a great disruption card. Could be a replacement for Abyssal Persecutor.
I'm sure the sideboard is incorrect, and I'm not sure how Chain of Mephistopheles is a a great card for us. Sure it let's us loot, but it has no disruption if I'm analyzing it correctly. Can anyone think of more disrupting creatures that are worthy?

From a Pox player of long standing, I can assure you Chains is always a great disrupting card against blue decks. Rubbish against everything else, except Sylvan Library, Glimpse of Nature and Enchantress decks.
Brainstorm under chains is hilariously bad, which is why it is played, they have to discard 3 in hand in order to draw 3 and put two back. Remember the mill happens instead of the draw, not in addition, so no cards in hand when ancestral visions unsuspends= no draw, just mill It does not allow for a "draw and discard" ability, and of course the first card of the regular draw steps do not count. With Sylvan library they need to discard in order to look at those extra cards, because they count as being drawn even if they try to then put them back.
I know nothing of the archetype, but I love Stax and Prison decks. Good luck, sir!

People with belligerent signatures are trying to compensate for something....
The idea is to shred their hand of the cards that matter. It has some good turn one hands, with Unmas then dropping a 2 drop.
I just played 3 matches and won 2 of them, including 2-1 vs Miracles and I can't remember which deck was the other one I beat.
I'm thinking of changing the mainboard Sinkhole for Revoker's and switching Sinkhole's to sideboard. Thoughtsieze could be just fine since it gives us more turn 1 plays and I can discard it later to Liliana or Rites if I have a Chalice on board.

Wait this thread is still alive? I guess I can update opening post unless someone wants it? Curse not agree with my mobile severely impacts the amount of time I can spend on this forum.
