I am thinking of building a mono white Opalescence + Parallax Wave deck. The combo itself is great for removing all unwanted creatures and enchantments... but boosted with Oblivion Ring to be able to exile any/all non land cards as well, Wall of Omens for infinite card draw, and Wall of Resurgence for infinite mana. The rest of the deck will be tutors, protection/control, and any 1 card (undecided) that can kill with either infinite ETB triggers, infinite LTB triggers, or infinite mana (only need 1 because im planning to draw my deck). Prismatic Lens can ramp a little and with oblivion ring + combo, also give infinite colored mana.
Basically, I believe that this classic combo has not been abused nearly as much as it can be. There are some high level stack tricks here so please let me know if there is a part that you believe does not work so we can discuss it in greater detail. I would like to keep the deck mono white for personal reason... as well as not wanting to invest money in lands.
So basically you get Opalescence and Parallax Wave into play. Parallax Wave becomes a creature and you remove a fade counter and target itself because it is now a creature and any other creatures such as Wall of Omens and/or Wall of Resurgence. Remove them first though then itself. When you remove itself it comes back into play with 5 new fade counters and your creatures (walls) also come back allowing you to draw cards from Wall of Omens and or hasted land with Wall of Resurgence. Do this infinitely and draw your whole deck and/or create infinite mana. Am I getting this correctly? If so interesting. Give it a basic mono white prison shell and you are complete. I'd have to toy around with this to come up with the correct shell. Not sure if this will ever be tier one but I really like it's interactions. Sounds fun and original.
The combo is essentially very simple and very powerful, relying on the fact that Opalescence can target itself as a critter, allowing it to effectively "blink" with triggers on the stack. When it comes back it is a new permanent.
I have been wanting to get it to work for a while, as once assembled the various combos are almost impossible to stop given currently played cards- once you get Opalescence II down both Opalescences become critters, which can be blinked to protect them from Wear/Tear say. If you add the blue version of Wave you can remove their land in a a similar fashion.
The problem is these cards normally make neither Parfait or Enchantress decks, which are their natural home as the Enchantment control decks of the format. Parfait is practically mono-white and this combo still does not make it (although I have tried it). The reason for this is that you need to cast 2 x 4cc spells.
I believe that it is only going to be overcome in a shell with acceleration- every other deck in the format that needs to cast 3/4cc spells early (eg Sneak and Show) normally has some kind of acceleration- Moxen, Sol lands - Tombs/City of Traitors- that type of thing. Even Parfait (which is basically mono white Enchantment combo-prison with lots of basics for land tax/scroll rack) has to use 4 Mox Diamond, and it has a curve that would be way cheaper. So for this to work I think you would need 4 City of Traitors and 4 Ancient Tomb, which would mean a lot of investment in expensive lands.

People with belligerent signatures are trying to compensate for something....
Prismatic Lens is what im planning to use for a cheap 1 turn ramp. it works well with the combo + oblivion ring. there are still a lot of open slots for this deck and im thinking that it would be more practical to fill those spots with control/protection/recovery rather than speed. we are already running 4 Oblivion Ring. im considering Soul Warden as a 1 drop because it becomes infinite life with the combo... or just an early chump blocker that probably will have gained me a tiny bit of life. 1 copy of Mortarpod for infinite damage... plus i REALLY love that card.
This deck isnt really meant to go off AND win in the same turn. the reason i believe it will work this way is because, other than Opalescence, every combo piece is good on its own and should buy you more turns.
with 0 acceleration, a game could look like this
turn 1: soul warden
turn 2: wall of omens
turn 3: oblivion ring (take out potential combo piece)
turn 4: parallax wave (exile up to 3 threats)
turn 5: opalescence (at this point, exile all non-land permanents your opponent controls. gain infinite life. draw as many cards as you like, but dont draw all)
turn 6: win with the mortarpod that you will draw into
i realize that a turn 6 kill isnt something that sounds powerful... but the path to getting to the 6th turn doesnt seem that impossible considering that all of the cards that it took to get there are defensive cards in addition to combo pieces.
also, if anyone is wondering why it needs to be mono white, its because i kinda have a bet going with someone who said "white is the worst color and is useless". so... i bet him that i could build an awesome mono white deck for under $75. im thinking im going to beat that by about $10 depending on how much i spend on the Idyllic Tutors
realistically, i would probably splash this with something else...
