I wasn't criticizing your choices at all, nor was I choosing narrow situations just to prove you wrong. I said Sphinx, Iona, ect because sometimes we have to careful study and drop the only creature in our hand or Show and Tell our creature. Also Sphinx almost completely shuts down Zoo and Maverick which are decks that play StP. Yes I would name white against probably both of those decks but there are still situations where you don't always get to reanimate the creature of choice, and thus you must protect your creature the most efficient way possible.

I didn't mean to offend you with this discussion. I do respect your opinion fully, and completely agree Flusterstorm is a card people will misplay against. I was just trying to offer another viewpoint here. I do not think my situations are narrow, Zoo and Maverick are real decks and just because Jace and artifact gy hate are underplayed right now does not mean they do not exist and we cannot just throw those out the window because we do not think we will face them.

Interesting, I run Thoughtseize in the main and Flusterstorm in the board, though I guess I could add Duress as well. I'm running Divert for the Surgical Extractions and Hymn to Tourachs in my metagame, though Duress deals with them as well, albeit proactively.

What are your opinions on the best target for the Maverick matchup? I'm guessing Empyrial Archangel/Inkwell Leviathan or Iona on white would be effective against their removal, though Iona is still vulnerable to Karakas. Sphinx tangles with their creatures fairly well, though but there's the removal vulnerability.

Morningstar, which target would you fetch against B/R Goblins?

I'm only 2 graveborns, 2 Jin, 3 underground sea, and a set of polluted delta away from completing the deck. Hopefully be complete by Xmas or so.

Edit: almost forgot, I need 2 more show and tell as well.

I was just curious about using Cabal Therapy instead of Thoughtseize, Duress, or IK?

Of course if your running Putrid Imp. G2, G3 of course would be more useful.

Personally I had a bad experience with Thoughtseize + Reanimate + Fetch Lands probably a misplay on my part but basically killed myself.

So, I would only consider playing it over a "proper" discard spell if I was playing Putrid Imp. But playing a subpar card to enable an otherwise subpar card is not a good strategy to win games, IMO.




It can happen occasionally, with or without Thoughtseize, that you can no longer cast Reanimate in a given game. It's just one of the risks of this deck.
The question you have to ask is if you would have won the game if you hadn't lost life from Thoughtseize.
Personally, I have only lost 1 game (in over 80 played) that I could have won if I hadn't lost life from Thoughtseize, and for me that is a small enough risk compared to the pros or running Thoughtseize over Duress.

Do you run thoughtseize as a 4 of or 3?

Blue: Flooded Strand, Misty Rainforest, Scalding Tarn

Black: Verdant Catacombs, Bloodstained Mire, Marsh Flats

Obviously Polluted Delta is the blue black fetch.

Ideally we want all our fetches to be Polluted Delta but that's not possible. So we need the rest to be a combination of the other blue and black fetches. Having 8-9 fetches allows Brainstorm to be better, deck thinning, ect.

This deck also got a lot cheaper with the printing of Premium Deck Series: Graveborn. You still will need to get Force of Will, Underground Sea, and the fetches which makes if decently pricy but not at all close to what it used to be.

Whats the cheapest place to pick up the graveborn foil deck to get some entombs.

My reanimator deck after totaling everything came close to $800 I believe.

3 Seas is fine. Especially if you maindeck a Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

I would like to make a blue black deck eventually but can't decide reanimator or team america. Any opinions on the 2. The thing is I know if I purchase 4 underground seas and some thoughtseize I'm going to end up making both decks lol. I have all the blue currently playing Bant, UW stoneblade, RUG tempo and High Tide cards are on the way. This games too addicting!!!

No problem making both decks. I swap cards all the time between decks; I just use the same sleeves. My Force of Wills and Underground Seas have been passed around to more decks than I care to recall.

After my playtesting tonight, these are the changes I suggest

Inkwell is great, but I'd rather have either a Archangel or the Empirion in Scars.

I just realized you can reanimate Emrakul, the Aeons Torn with Shallow Grave. Not sure why it took me so long. You play Shallow Grave in response to Emrakul's last ability triggering when he hits the graveyard. Though I'm not sure if you would get the extra turn since your not casting Emrakul, but its kind of a moot point.

It's more of a win-more card. You need it to last a turn for you to get use out of it and it's significantly worse if you don't have another creature in your hand or in the yard. If any creature lasts a turn, you'd want it to be Jin Gitaxias.

I only ask cause I mixed two graveborn decks together, and the speed at which it works out of the box amazed me, and after reading this thread made me want to get into a legacy version superbad. Casting an Eldrazi Titan for free would be pretty nice for a Time Walk/Vindicate/Tidings. Oh well, gotta experiment a little myself with something else, although the praetors are pretty good looking targets!

I know they're 5/5's but you get two flying dragons out of it and they waste two dismemers or other removal spells, I only ask cause i'm new to legacy and reanimator so I don't really have money to spend on underground seas, but will eventually get them!

Like Morningstar said, our deck cannot really afford to have a creature that doesn't change the board state immediately. The creatures we use are pretty set in stone. There are a few slots that can be switched around in the main and there are some replacements for certain creatures.

ex: Angel of Dispair and Terastrodon or using Empyrial Archangel or Inkwell Leviathan in the main. Some people also opt to use Blazing Archon in the main over one of our other creatures.

Also Broodmate Dragon and it's token are 4/4's. And another thing, the Eldrazis cannot hit the gy and be reanimated because they shuffle back into the deck. Yes they can with instant speed reanimation spells, but that has already been determined to be subpar to both our deck and Sneak and Show decks.

Even if you were to reanimate/Show and Tell in a Eldrazi, it is not the same as casting it so you would not get the effect out of it.

I mustve confused them with other tokens. And what I meant by mentioning the Eldrazi was casting off of Maelstrom Archangel, but since she would be to slow the Eldrazi/Angel thing is a no-go. Guess Jin/Sphinx will do!

If your on the draw and draw a hand with no Entomb or careful study but a big fatty creature with a reanimate would you not lay a land discard the fatty then cast reanimate second turn.
