I just got to brag a bit about my opening skills. I decided to join a sealed daily because I have a few hours to kill, and then I opened this beauty:
This must certainly be one of the best sealed pools I've ever opened. Of course, I guess I'm jinxing myself now, but this is the sort of stuff where if I had opened it at a GP, I would have been super disappointed with anything less than 8-1. It's just an unbelievable pool.
Not in an aggressive deck. It's far less good in a control deck like this one. Indeed, with only one bounce spell I'd have gone for Annul (although I suppose Revenge is technically a bounce spell itself!).

Yeah, I realize Sene's list is definitely not the ideal home for Revenge. I think he's correct to run it, though.
Well, after an uninspiring sealed deck adventure I had Saturday, I decided to draft. The first queue to fill was a 4-3-2-2, and although I usually try to avoid them, I was feeling impulsive. So I joined. The draft was a bit loopy, but I finally got to do the impossible: I went 3-0 with this 5-Color-Green mess. Enjoy!
Sure I could have run a more consistent GWu build, but what would have been the fun in that?
I figured I'd get blitzed out by a Wx heroic deck in round 1, but instead, I didn't face a fast aggro deck until round 3. But my opponent's Minotaurs couldn't do quite enough. I did side out the red in round 3 to help lower my curve, But every card helped me win somewhere along the way. Usually the Hopeful Eidolon had a big role in me stabilizing. He became very good friends with my Fleecemane Lion over the course of the 3 rounds! Scholar of Athreos helped me finish off a few games too. And yes, I did leave the Opaline Unicorn in the sideboard by mistake, but I never really missed it.
Ever felt like you were running a constructed deck in limited? Did a 4pack sealed today and genuinely felt bad for my opponents. It simply was not a fair deck to play against.
Just wanted to brag about opening the most insane sealed pool for the prerelease. Opened both Phenax, God of Deception and Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver. Rather than going UB and all in on mill, I decided to play BGu control.
Needless to say, my opponent had some choice words to say (in fact both my first and second round opponents did) but in that case it was probably justified. I would have been pretty upset to have that sequence of plays against me.
P1P1 Angel of Serenity. P1P2 Cyclonic Rift. "Well, I guess I'm going Azorius control!"
Ended up drafting Sphere of Safety, Detention Sphere, Azorius Keyrune, New Prahv Guildmage, 2 Guildgates, and a big pile of goodstuff. Lost one game to a Stab Wound, of all things, and one game to Dryad Militant -> Seller of Songbirds -> Loxodon Smiter, which just took me out before I could stabilize, but still took first through good ol'fashioned durdly control. I ended up with crazy games where I just completely locked down the board with the Guildmage, ETB detain effects and Skymark Roc.
Prize packs contained Verdict, Chromatic Lantern and foil Rakdos's Return, so I made out pretty well.
On FNM this last week, we did BRG-THS-THS draft, there were 24 people present. Unlike a lot of places, my LGS does several pods then combines everyone and has a tournament as normal. 5 Swiss rounds, cut to top 8. While I obviously don't remember any pack contents specifically, I do remember a majority of the cards I chose.
I went into the first pack thinking, a nice mythic would be great, but let's just see what happens.
P1P1 - Chromanticore. Ok, so...I suppose that's a thing. Not a GOOD thing, but a thing nonetheless.
P1P2 - Nothing really fantastic in the pack, I picked an Asphyxiate.
P1P3 - Arbiter of the Ideal - Huh. Ok, so blue could be open...this is a bomb. Snagged it. I'm now possibly in 2 colors.
P1P4 - Gods Favored General - Alright, I'm still not committed to any colors.
P1P5 - Peregrination - 3 colors... and this is reasonable fixing.
P1P6 - Excoriate - Removal! Snarf it. hmmm, 4 colors?
P1P7 - Satyr Wayfinder - Wierd. Ok, so...at this point, I think, "well, I have a chromanticore, and so far most everything I have is single cost. What the hell, I'll go all in with this thing." Snagged the Wayfinder
Rest of Pack 1 - I grabbed another Wayfinder and 2 Sphinx's Disciple. I am now in 4 colors.
Pack 2 -
P2P1 - Shifting to the back of the pack, I am presented with an interesting choice: Foil Xenagos the Reveler or Fleecemane Lion. Uh... yeah, that's a thing. Went with the Xenagos. I am now officially in 5 colors.
P2P2 - Ashen Rider stares deep into my eyes. I am smitten. I must have it. Snagged it.
The rest of the packs were a blur except for P3P1 where I went for total value and snagged a Thoughtseize for the ultimate in pre-draft Winning. In the rest of the 2 packs, I picked up 2 Voyaging Satyrs, 1 Burnished Heart, 1 Unknown Shores, 1 Divine Verdict and some other stuff.
I won a box of BNG for the midnight pre release, was pretty mediocre until the last pack had a kiora and foil xenagos. Was a pretty amazing pull, but a few days later I signed up for the BNG league, 3 packs of THS 3 packs of BNG to start. Second BNG pack was a Mogis and another foil Xenagos. I just seem to have all the luck with that guy.
At BNG Prerelease, I pulled 2 packs with Foil rates right next to the rates themselves. Spirit of the Labyrinth and Herald of Torment. Yay for statistical anomalies!

This sounds like you just cracked an entire box of BNG without playing any limited games with it. Are you trying to make me cry?

I would've saved it for drafting, but a friend of mine at the LGS I frequent bought a case that hes saving 2 boxes to draft with (yeah, a case, I couldn't believe it either, who buys a case of BNG..?) Also, I needed to restock my trade binder to finish out a deck I was making for standard. It worked, and the deck is finished. I would never buy a box of a set like this, and usually draft most of my prize packs, so I know where you're coming from.
Meanwhile my client crashes halfway through pack one and the BNG rare I end up taking home is that stupid Podium. Damn you, variance!

My helpy helpdesk of helpfulness.
My Decks: EDH: Sygg, River Cutthroat , Road to Scion
Grimgrin, Corpseborn Modern: Polytokes IRL: Progenitus Polymorph , Goblins
Stupidly entered a BNG Pre-Release Sealed Event that I really can't afford. Luckily I opened quite well (chose red), and proceeded to go 4-0, only dropping one game.
Favorite play was when my opponent had Anthousa on board. I only had Akroan Conscriptor and was at 8 life. He casts a Mistcutter Hydra for 6 and attacks with both. I cast Fall of the Hammer targeting Conscriptor and the Hydra and take control of the Hydra. I block Anthousa with the Hydra and kill both creatures. Felt pretty good.
I'm having a fun time with the RW + Xenagos + Chromanticore deck (that's an archetype, right?) I drafted in a swiss queue. It's completely ridiculous, but amusing to play. So far I'm 1-1, waiting on round 3. Here's a shot from one of the games I played (first round, which I lost).
Went to my first draft last night. Had a really great time, even though only 6 of us showed up due to the terrible weather here in the Chicago area. Still fun though.
I went 2-1 with a WU deck heavy on evasion. I lost my first match against the guy who ended up winning but my record was good for 2nd place which I was happy with. I won my first game against him easily but he then got two very close ones in a row. My second and third opponents I beat in two games each and none of them were all that close.
I would love any feedback on the deck I built, I'm mostly happy with it:
So, it turns out that Triton tactics + Arbiter of the Ideal can do busted things. I just played a game where I attacked with the Arbiter. When my opponent attacked back with his Ill-tempered cyclops, I played Triton Tactics, and if that wasn't enough the inspire trigger hit a Hundred-Handed One. It was pretty brutal.

(As far as I can recall, this is the first time I've ever opened a mythic/foil mythic pack. And what a welcome it was.)

I built the following deck:

1 Servant of Tymaret
Yes...it was extremely greedy, and yes... that is 45 cards. My reasoning being that I was using 2 Wayfinders and didn't want to mill myself out.
The deck performed incredibly well, only losing to a very fast one trick pony green heroic deck in the swiss.
I ended up going 3-1-1 in the swiss, drawing into the top 8, where I swept everyone to end up in 1st.
5 Color Chromanticore - Who'd have thought?
This sounds like you just cracked an entire box of BNG without playing any limited games with it. Are you trying to make me cry?
I would've saved it for drafting, but a friend of mine at the LGS I frequent bought a case that hes saving 2 boxes to draft with (yeah, a case, I couldn't believe it either, who buys a case of BNG..?)
