Heya, it's been a bit quiet on the forum activity front lately. The last couple of sets (Dragons & Origins) just didn't do it for me, so that coupled with other obligations made it so that we haven't done forum drafts in a while.
However, I'd be willing to run one for Battle for Zendikar if there is interest. The forum activity has been, well, modest in the past few months, but if folks are into it, it's a thing I can do. 8-way drafts or duplicate drafts I am unfortunately not going to be able to do; I don't think we have quite enough regular posters around to warrant one right now, anyway.
Without the ability to play against others,I don't think a forum draft is written the effort. If we're not going to do an 8-way or duplicate draft, I don't think it's worth bothering.
I think you hit the nail on the head for why we haven't had a ton of activity recently though: "The last couple of sets (Dragons & Origins) just didn't do it for me". I didn't love Fate, though I still played it some. I didn't like Dragons at all; I didn't like Magic Origins; I don't love this set. So it's hard to post about sets that you are neither particularly excited about in spoiler season nor have played much now that it's out. I have been playing mostly vintage in recent weeks due to the impending return of VRD, and when we wanted to draft a few times we busted out our ROE cube since this set did have us a little nostalgic.

I love these things. Very interested. Sorry to hear you're skeptical of the interest level for the 8-ways and duplicate drafts. Personally, I don't post much but lurk plenty, and jump onboard events like these whenever possible.
I can do an 8-way, if people understand that I will not organize the playing thereof in any way.
Do you mean that you'd be willing to administer the draft for an 8-way, just not the play portion?
I'm with Dorvan, I don't find the forum drafts to be valuable. I usually stop following after a few picks. I'd be happy to do an 8-way or Dupe if anyone steps up to run one.
Okay, if scottjhebert would be willing to organize the draft part, I'm more interested. I'd like to participate in the event, if so, but can be considered a backup should it be needed.
Duplicate drafts are fun, but absurdly time consuming, and I don't have the energy to expend on that right now. Plus, the forum software isn't really set up well for Duplicate drafts; the subscription system doesn't work for that kind of forum.
Anyway, once scott has commented on our interpretation, if he's in, I'll post an 8-way feeler. I think each team should have at least four players for it to be feasible/worthwhile.
Yes, of course I meant to administer it. However, that being said, I have seen too many of these devolve into nothing after the actual draft and people want to play the rounds, and I have no interest whatsoever in trying to coordinate that at all.
It would probably make sense to have someone designated to handle that portion before we start.
I'm in, provided we get to done one of those options you just proposed, Sene. Realistically I won't be able to coordinate online matches with people easily, but if others want to play or if people want to vote on decks, I think that would be worthwhile.
I've enjoyed BFZ quite a bit so far, and the current 8-way seems to be working well too. So the likelihood of me arranging another Duplicate Draft this Christmas is definitely non-zero. Keep your eyes open if you're interested; if it does happen, I estimate I'll start it mid-December (15th-20th or thereabouts).
But like with the 8-Way Draft, if I do run a Duplicate Draft, I'll open it up immediately after the draft is finished; I will not wait for the matchs to get played first. That was the downfall of the previous one. The actual draft portion I felt went well.

A few possible ways to solve the conundrum of online play:
I will go procure the card (information) I will need to run the 8-way this weekend.
