Looks like this is going to happen, so that's great. Everyone who has posted ITT is assumed to have signed up. We'll probably start in just a few days.
However, I was disappointed that the previous 8-way draft didn't inspire more post-draft discussion and analysis. Whether or not we play any games, would it be possible to set up a postmortem thread for discussing what worked, what we'd pick differently in retrospect, and how our card evaluations have evolved since the draft started?
Like Scott said, previously the playing portion often dragged out infinitely to the point where the players lost interest. Our goal is to not have that happen this time, and instead resolve the matches in another fashion. My current inclination would be towards two players just duking it out on Modo to crown a winning deck (and therefore team), and have this happen very soon after the draft is done (like a few days). This would also allow for the forums to be opened to the public immediately after the draft portion is finished.
Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

It seems like the big hang-up isn't waiting to find out who wins, but waiting to get to look at the other threads and talk about how the draft went. Couldn't we just all give up on having secret information during our matches and just open the forums right away, before the matches are finished?
I like this idea because it lets teams play their own decks against the other teams, but doesn't slow anything down if two teams are delayed getting their match together.
posertom: The other issue is that I can't start a new one until the old one is 'finished'. Given that I want this to be a regular feature of the forum, 'playing it out' is just not in the cards, historically speaking.
I want the teams to make their deck, but playing it out is just not realistic. In fact, what would be awesome in this format is to have one person play all the Zendikari decks, and one to play all the Eldrazi decks.
Maybe some kind of compromise, where teams have a week to do their round, then all unfinished matches get done as you've proposed at the end of that period? I just think we're giving up a lot by not letting players play their own decks.
I'm excited that the other issue you see is that you're planning on running these so often that we need better match deadlines to keep "zombie drafts" from holding up the next draft. Thanks for taking this on!
What is the issue exactly with playing it out/no playing it out? Can't we simply discuss the draft as soon as it is done and then those who want to play it out, can?

In the past, playing it out has been difficult (and dreadfully slow), so I think the point is that the forum draft organizer(s) won't be trying to organize this, but if the teams want to do this regardless, they can of course do so.
Ken: Generally, in the past people have not wanted to discuss it until games are played.
My more general concern is that people who are trying to play the games for a given draft generally 'suck all of the air' out of doing another one until they're finished.
I am not generally willing to let that happen anymore.
@sene and @scottjhebert: Sounds perfect to me. We discuss as soon as it is over in a thread called 'Post-Draft Discussion Thread,' and if a group wants to play out the games, they simply avoid the thread until they are finished. Their experience could enlighten some of our discussion down the road.

This needs to get done, because I've always wanted to do analysis of results, etc., and have never been able to do so, because of match shenanigans.
I will see if we can get everything set up so that we can start tomorrow.
