As good as the noble is, I'm not ready to jump into a second color when there is a premium red one-drop for our red agro deck. Reckless Waif is an amazing card. It often hits the battlefield T1 on the play, nearly guaranteeing it flips right away.
Fully agree on the Falkenrath Noble here. It's so very much in line with what the deck is trying to do: attack and watch the opponent's life total drop rapidly wether he blocks or not. There's so much playable stuff in the pack, that the Waif is even likely to wheel.
We did just pick up a black card, so Dead Weight is on the table, but I've found Heretic's Punishment to be a pretty good way to finish off a stalled out game. It's a pretty solid curve topper for our aggressive red deck.
Dead Weight. This deck is likely on the cheap side with its aggressive game plan, so the Punishment doesn't get much fuel. And by the time we can get value out of it, we want to game to already be over in our favor. Dead Weight, on the other hand, is a very efficient and cheap removal spell, exactly what we want for our deck. Don't get me wrong, repeatable removal is strong, but this one takes too much mana for too little gain. At least in this deck.
We'll take the falkenrath marauders and look to lower our curve from here.
Our high-end looks good, but we will lose plenty of games without two-drops. Red isn't the premier agro deck in this format, GW is... and right now a good GW deck would easily go under our splashy bombs and take the match.
Oof, tough pick. Scourge is the best red card but taking another expensive drop is not really where we want to be. Feral Ridgewolf is not unplayable, but it's close. I think I'll just go for Chapel Geist. I'm really not a fan of the double white but we do have a couple white cards already so we might end up there. And it's just so much better than our other options.
Tough pick. Even with the evolving wilds, I'm dubious we can fit a WW card in the deck. None of the other off-color cards are good enough to branch out for.
So it comes down to which mediocre red card to take, or cobbled wings. I'll pick the Tormented Pariah for curve considerations (our second 4drop, after hellrider). The cobbled wings are close, but we already have some good reach/evasion. If we see one late, we can pick it up, but here I'm taking the creature.
I'm not seeing this deck go for a double white 3-drop either, though a 2/3 flyer in that spot is tempting. Feral Ridgewolf is probably the best alternative, allowing us to turn excess mana into more damage. If only its base stats were more impressive.
