If we're going for the combo spider deck it's possible Increasing Ambition could be good to fetch our win con, but I think I like Bone to Ash here for a pretty strong piece of cantripping interaction. The only other card that really interests me is a sideboard Crushing Vines but meh.
I'm taking Gravepurge to get back access to creatures that died or were milled and stack the deck with business spells. Or just get back a strong creature. I'm so not sure, what colors we will be playing in the end.
Looking this over, blue, black, and green are probably open, while red seems closed. Seems like it's time to bench the Shaman and maybe let the Captain take center stage. Chant of the Skifsang is likely the last removal we'll get to see this round, and I want it.
Guys, this deck is all over the place... and I love it. Let's ride the tiger.
An argument could be made for the bear, the cat, the zombie, the wakedancer, or the chant. We're most likely to be Ux, maybe Uxx, so I'm leaning toward the chant or the zombie. The black and green cards may be slightly more powerful, but they would need to be much more powerful to risk taking one and then find out it's the wrong color.
I also want to prioritize creatures, since it's entirely possible we end up cutting the shaman and/or elk from the deck. Also, the two archetypes I'm most excited about are zombies and spider spawning, and both require a high creature count. For that reason I'm taking Screeching Skaab. It may be the weakest of our options, but it's not much weaker, and we'll always play it, and it will always enable our synergies.
(I fully expect to get outvoted here, but I figure I'd explain my thinking.)
I thought I was crazy for liking Screeching Skaab here, but I guess there's someone else as crazy as me. At this point I think we want to be UGb, UBg, or straight UB, and Skaab is a pretty good fit in any of those builds.
Thanks a lot guys, now I have to decide between two choices, neither of which is mine. And that choice is probably going to greatly influence, where the deck is going. I'll side with the zombie/self-mill faction and choose Screeching Skaab, because it is a zombie and thus enhances the Captain (with the Shaman being benched the best card we've got so far) quite a bit, even if we end up mainly in U/G and only splash black.
This deck is certainly the most messed up of the bunch, but also the most interesting. I'm really curious to see how it'll end up.

Increasing ambition is interesting in self-mill, but still just too damn slow.
