I attended my first draft yesterday in M14, and following the general consensus I tried monoblue. I worked out pretty well, I was able to pull an Opportunity out, which was great, but unfortunatly my deck was way too slow. I drew myself out twice during the night. My next draft is coming up. Does anyone have any tips for monoblue? Any other archetypes ? I've heard the Act of Treason deck is good.
If you are in Mono blue, draft a millstone and/or Elixir. The Millstone is a pretty much unkillable (game one at any rate) efficient win condition, and Elixir obviously prevents decking.

Mono Blue is a very difficult deck to draft and pilot. If you're not sure what the archetypes in M14 even are, you're probably not familiar enough with the format to win consistently with Mono Blue. The consensus is that it's a very powerful deck, not that it's something for a new player to try.
I am a little pissed off my sweet almost mono blue deck didn't work last draft... I got lava axed to death twice and was out of the running. The Sac deck made my 4 claustripobia's not quite as useful and he just slowly knocked down my hp 1 or 2 at a time until he Axed me a question and I didn't have an answer.
So I guess yes the R/B Sac deck is good. Although it is a little more finiky as you need the right peices at the right time. The blue deck is just all good stuff. My opponent in that game (who won the FNM) was a bit more aggro focused with shortcutters and other beaters. You cannot be too focused on the synergy you still have to get your opponents dead with the appropaite amount of aggression.
Archtypes I'm aware of (in no order of power level or viability):
1. BR Sacrifice Deck (Act of Treason, Blood Bairne, Festering Newt, Barrage of Expendables)
2. UG Beatdown (Zephyr Charge, Big Green Men, Blue Flyers/Removal; Dismiss into Dream combos with Zephyr Charge)
3. WG Accord (Multiple Angelic Accords, Multiple Lifegain elements)
4. BW Enchantments (Pacificms, Multiple Blightcasters, evasive creatures, Mark of the Vampire)
5. UR Burn (Young Pyromancer, Red Burn/Blue Card Draw, Archaeomancer)
6. GR Beasts (Advocate of the Beast, Marauding Maulhorn, Rumbling Baloth, Burn/Hunt the Weak)
These are all very rough shells obviously. I'm sure there are more (GB Enchantments was something I've heard people mention).

I did grab both a seakite and a messenger... I went a little gung ho on the control part, will definitly draft more bomb if I try monoblue again.
