I don't as it seems awkward that despite your supposed to kill mana dorks if possible, pathing seems counter productive.
Are you supposed to Path it on upkeep to prevent the turn 2 3-drop/turn 3 -4 drop? or just save the path for later.
If Geist and Thrun didn't have hexproof I would find this less of an issue, but if you know your opponent run them, do you path at upkeep, or save the path for later?
path, having the ability to flat exile anything, is probably best saved for something that can kill you. if you think their mana accelerator will kill you, then sure, exile it. but noble hierarch ain't no werebear, so odds are you should save it for their kotr jedi.

Had semenulative upkeep before it was fashionable. Look what you forced me to do, Wizards! IT DIDN'T HAVE TO GO DOWN LIKE THIS!

Like I said, I can only go by my own experience, which is now 18 years. Kind of disheartening when you think you know something and you find out that you're a notch below a low grade moron.

Hierarch, I think, is an interesting exception to this rule. It is not entirely accurate to think of Hierarch as simply a mana dork. She's also potentially going to swing, and she BUFFS the Geist/Thrun/War Monk/Goyf that is going to be killing you. It also turns BoP into an attacker. Bant being my primary deck, I can say that losing a Hierarch is extremely painful both for my tempo and for my beats. It's the right play. There are better options for removing her, tho. One of which is coming with DKA..
never path mana accelerators unless you can't answer what they are gong to play with that 3 mana. Giest will wreck you pretty fast and is hard to answer so if you know or think they have giest it is probably the right call. Generally you would not keep a hand with only one answer unless your playing an aggro deck in which case giest is a lot less troublesome.

In life all we can do is try to make things better. Sitting lost in old ways and fearing change only makes us outdated and ignorant.

Replace a vulnerable mana dork with the resilient basic land of their choosing? No thanks.

This is why I started playing magic in the first place. It wasn't PT aspirations just making noobs cry by doing things that are perfectly fair.
The problem with pathing mana accelerators is that path accelerates their mana. I looove bolting them, but I will rarely path them
Yea, this is what I was thinking myself. Then again Raalic has a point too, as the Exalted ability can hurt quite a bit, and it does limit their available colors to grab a basic. I am still not sure I would make a blanket statement of "Do This" or "Don't Do This", because so many game factors can influence the decision.

Yeah, I wouldn't say it's always wrong, but it's for usually wrong
I guess my issue is.
If they go T1 Mana dork
You go turn 1 Land
If you path it at upkeep, they cannot go T2 3 drop, and your able to potentially mana leak (other counterspell) the 3 drop, where as you cannot otherwise. This is really only an issue of Geist of Saint traft, but if you know that is what is coming, do you path?
