Gravecrawler is awesome even NOT in zombie decks. A 2/1 for 1 with no drawback in black is sick.
My favorite card spoiled so far, hands down, is the geist. Undying is obviously stronger than persist. Giving him haste was just overkill. I guess finks is still better.. still. Awesome.
I'm not sure if anybody noticed it, but Thraben Doomsayer & Intruder Alarm from a 2 card infinite creature combo. I actually think that combo has potential for a few reasons...
1. Thraben Doomsayer is actually a good creature by itself, and also only costs 3 mana, thus isn't entirely dead when you're not comboing out.
2. Intruder Alarm combos with tons of other cards already, so it's easy to use it as a combo piece.
3. You don't 2 for 1 yourself when 1 piece is removed, unlike Splinter Twin.
4. Both pieces are potentially tutorable off Drift of Phantasms.
I think the general idea with a deck like this is that you should be able to combo out in a number of ways off either Doomsayer or Intruder Alarm. You could easily make a human aggro deck with a combo finish if you even wanted to.

Loyal Cathar doesn't look bad for a Common. It has an efficient enough body and it comes back from the dead. Too bad it can't block after it dies.
Ladies and gentlemen, we might have the first DKA Modern-playable card in our hands with Sorin, Lord of Innistrad. He churns out tokens with his +1, his -2 gives you cumulative half-Glorious Anthems, and his -6 is unreal--it's almost Plague Wind. He's also a cool 4 cmc with a starting 3 loyalty! Too bad he's BW, but I'm sure those decks will love him as a complement to Elspeth.
Yea Im trying to like Sorin but... Elspeth is just beter and to be fair I think she is the best plaeswalker next to Jace TMS. She is good in almost any board postion and can greatly increase a clock, that extra loyalty makes all the difference. Hes not to far behind and probably beter in BW tokens. Goth Garruk is probably more powerful in a vacum as well and isn't seing modern play. The persistent 2 drops are more likely to make a splash.

Sorin does have one thing over Elspeth and that is not having the planeswalker type Elspeth. He seems like he could do good things in a deck as the 'extra' two Elspeth's.

I think all the token decks going around on MTGO and placing in the dailies would much rather have Sorin than Elspeth. He's the perfect card for the token polymorph hybrid decks.

What I know is that when they play Elspeth, what I fear is not the 1 dude, it's the +3/+3 flying on whatever guy, even a noble hierarch, and the 5 loyalty counters left.
Sorin be good. Still not as good as Elspeth, but I could see some sort of Esper "Superfriends" list being decent, with him, Elspeth, Liliana and Jace. He also gives a reason to play Uwb other than Teachings

The thing is, his second ability is meant for swarm decks. BW tokens is about the only deck that can take advantage of that. Esper has better options than Sorin. He won't get played there.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.
I really love Falkenrath Aristocrat, and see it as a potential deck-maker with the human token machines that are coming on board. It will not make the grade for Standard (so far) because the deck would have to be WBR, but I really want to try and make it work for Modern.
Though, sometimes the casual deck-maker inside me blinds me to the potential impediments.
I feel like WOTC made Sorin, as a, we are sorry we banned Bitterblossom, here is somthing we feel is more reasonable for our new modern format. I think DA is going to be a great block, hopefully it'll make dredge competitive, and I'm really hoping that Sorin will make a Junk/Rock planswalker deck good.
My errata'd commons cube
Yeah, I think that card will end up being extremely strong in Martyr decks. Now, they won't have to attack to win.

Ghoultree looks sick tech for dredge style decks. Sorin looks like he's bonkers!

Also, most aggro would be able to just kill him super quick.

I don't. Lifelink is nifty, but five loyalty counters is the big thing.

Also, he is good with Elspeth because 4/4 Flying Lifelink Vampires are very good.
Does no one else remember the old B/W Tokens deck that LSV did so well with in Lorywind standard?
