You know what.... I have to apologize, I got my decklist mixed up. I was thinking of the ebony owl+ howling mine deck , I played both this and magnivore around the same time. Here is a sample list I found of UR magnivore and I recant my last statement I think it would be pretty cool.
as a note if you feel that you run out of steam useing u/r vore can play ancestral vision and you can play Avalanche Riders if you want to be more aggressive, and can also use pyroclasm if you feel aggro is a problem

this may be a bit off of the beaten path from what we have been talking about in terms of u/r vore, but what do you think of a B/R version?
pay no attention to the horrible sideboard. i was just playing this on MWS and It made no one happy. except for me of course :-)<--------happy face
b/r gives us cheaper draw but drains some life, i wouldn't say need 4 wildfire, we wouldn't be getting the maximum value for blighting i.e. kill a walker discard 2 not sure if thats really need. small pox is cheap ld which is nice also there is that black stone rain in m10 i believe, and that sorcery from kamigawa block for R both players sac a land

The life loss is monumental but tends to be a non factor I might even add in death's shadow to take advantage of it.

Figures could be some other beatstick, and Riders could be Fulminators.
There's alot of additions you could do to this. Basically if your going to keep lavamancer and and FoD I would find a way to add ranger of eos maybe. Also you could dump those guys and fulminator Mage and revillark.
I would dump boom//bust and just add stone rain. And honestly I love the addition of chandra for double land D.

Boom is pretty good. I think the ability to go turn 2 LD off a Flagstone is worth keeping in, and with a fetch it can functionally be a Stone Rain anyway. (Target your fetch, crack in response.)
Ranger of Eos isn't a bad idea, but I'm not sure where I'd fit it in. Reveillark...I dunno. It doesn't really seem worth it to me, but to be honest I haven't played much with the card, so maybe I'm underestimating it. Certainly it's powerful with multiple Fulminators or Riders in the grave.

When you peer long enough through the depths, the depths peer also through you.
Well, you dont even need multiple. If you've played a fulminator and cracked it to kill a land then followed up with a rider to kill a land, follow that up with revy and you have 3 threats on the field with another land d back up with your opponents down Land. It's a win-win(-win).

While looking through available LD options, I ran across Icefall. This seems potentially really powerful in decks with Fulminator Mage and/or Avalanche Riders. If nothing else, I'd definitely run it over Demolish in anything with a reasonable amount of creatures.
Also, Roiling Terrain is pretty neat. Just about the best thing you can possibly copy with Chandra, for the builds running her.

as for icefall i would play it if i had to go into a 4cc LD card mainly cause its reusable but demolish is also an out to random artifact situations imo icefall the way
Second, dukksoup is right. Death's shadow is amazing when your goal involves loosing monumental amounts of life.
Third, what is the sideboard plan against white weenie? Or decks with really low curves in general?
lastly, noxious revival could be good. Gets back ld, and us pseudo ld, in that it can put a crap sorcery that they can't play on top of their library. Also feeds shadow is you go that route.

1) no its just we normally wouldn't be getting the most out of that card
2) and its not like you couldn't just read death's shadow and figure that out
3) Pyroclasm, volcanic falloutSlagstorm
4) thought that as well - death's shadow

Crack the Earth, Boom // Bust and Smallpox are the fastest forms of LD, but is there any card legal in Modern that can support them all? Loam comes to mind (discard Loam to Smallpox, then dredge it back and bring your lands back), otherwise there's Crucible of Worlds and Noxious Revival. Maybe some of the color-specific LD could be used in the SB (like Boil, Boiling Seas, Flashfires, Reign of Chaos, Stench of Evil, Spreading Algae).

i don't really think there is but its cheap LD at least, but if you want to live the dream could play Hatching Plans for it i wouldn't take this post to seriously.
Actually, there is one way to make it profitable on turn 1: Simian Spirit Guide. Still not worth it, though.
If your goal is getting mana denial online ASAP, I'd say either go blue for Boomerang, or go green for Birds and Elves to accelerate into a turn 2 red LD spell.

A few cards to consider in the UR LD decks that were not legal when Magnivore was a boss: cryptic command (bounce #9-12 in my list), preordain/ponder >sleight of hand, chandra firebrand (double cryptic? yes please), frost titan (on theme) and destructive force (wildfire that curves from titan).
The ememy also has some annoying tools that make ne hesitant to run maggy at all: Path to exile (bad for maggy and ld in general), Dismember (situational), knight of the reliquary (can sac lands in response if left unchecked) and fetchlands (can leave them uncracked until needed thus ensuring goyf or knight resolve).
I love LD but it is going to require some sick draws and play skill to beat zoo consitently.
lol its cool man, everyone makes mistakes.
