I remember there was an extended deck by Mike Conley that featured a creature-based combo that revolved around Necrotic Ooze and Fauna Shaman.
I was wondering if that combo would be viable in Modern or is there too much creature hate in the format?
Modern also gives the deck a bigger card pool. While its not going to be easy without Phyrexian Devourer (combo with Triskelion), there are enough creature combos that Necrotic Ooze can abuse.
Griselbrand off of Avacyn Restored can also be utilized as a pseudo-win condition, drawing you a fresh seven and hopefully win the game from there.
Also, with Fauna Shaman, Vengevines can be abused.
Would it have potential or is this just going to be an offshoot of Pod decks?

I am convinced that WotC is "dumbing" the game because of all the stupid posts they come across on MTG-related forums
You are talki bou the "ooze and aws" deck that h gave such a silly name to. he deck is actually very resilient to removal (you can either slam the creatures together on the board (Druid+Qiullspike) and if they die you can just play the Ooze and it would just like controlling the two even when you are not.
I don't know ho viable it would be. I have ben eyeing the idea myself, but never changed my pod to accamodate the combo.

Devoted Druid + Quillspike (infinite size Ooze)
Devoted Druid + Grim Poppet (infinite green mana / infinite activations/ creature uzi)
Oona Prowler + Grisslebrand (dig for combo pieces)
Kiki-Jiki + Mogg Fanatic (infinite damage)
I would probably play it Jund or Grixis as you want Faithless Looting to pitch what you don't need. Probably something like
4 Necrotic Ooze
4 Devoted Druid
3 Fauna Shaman
3 Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker
3 Mogg Fanatic
2 Oona's Prowler
2 Stinkweed Imp
1 Quillspike
1 Thornling
1 Grim Poppet
4 Thoughtseize
4 Terminate
24 Lands
Rough list, but can combo off T3
T1: Blood Crypt - Looting (dump Kiki/Prowler)
T2: Overgrown Tomb - Druid
T3: Reflecting Pool - Tap Druid (send to gy) for 2 mana (so 5 total), Ooze (discard Thornling). Give Ooze Haste w/ the 5th mana. Tap to create an copy of Ooze. Repeat a million times. Untap all and swing.
