The part about having one extra mana is kinda ****ty argument, seeing as fast mana is pretty key in most decks. See why chrome mox is banned.
"the part about having one extra mana" is the only reason to even consider using Gemstone Caverns. That's what the card was made for. I'm sorry, I'm just not seeing your point.. or maybe you're just trolling.. or maybe you just have really bad grammar. I'm really confused at this point
It's not great but if you choose to draw it is an option. I was actually testing Dragon Stompy when Modern was first announced, before Rite of Flame was banned, and the a Cavern was at times fantastic but usually just ok. I kinda feel Dragon Stompy can't work in Modern because we lack Sol Lands, useful Moxen, and losing Rite of Flame made me drop it, but I'd test with 3 Cavern (4 was too many for me) if you're gonna try a list.

Alright, thanks, anything else you want to suggest?
I'm determined to make this work, because I hate seeing all these 3-4 no-basic manabases going unpunished. I want to bloodmoon them all, and watch them cry deeply.
Gemstone caverns will not be suitable here, if you try to mulligan to have him in the opening hand you will probably run out of the little gas you have remaining.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
You don't Mulligan to Gemstone Caverns, it's just a land with a bonus if it's in your opening 7. If it is, you get an uncounterable Chrome Mox (that can imprint land!) but you don't keep bad hands just to have it, and you don't mull good hands to get it.
I'd probably start with something like this for testing, but it's pure theory as I stopped thinking about this deck once Rite of Flame got banned.
That leaves 10 sots open for Phyrexian Revoker, Moltensteel Dragon, Kargan Dragonlord, Gathan Raiders, Arc-Slogger, etc. Possibly sideboard the 4th Caverns for games when you know you'll be on the draw.

on to the point, no, it is not a suitable replacement for chrome mox. It is however a suitable replacement for ancient tomb, so it has that going for it. If we get REALLY lucky, they will reprint the crystal vein and friends. We will likely never see ancient tomb again, and we know they won't reprint city of traitors.

Lycanthropy Awareness Day.
Hoping for a cure, or at least an outbreak.
Does anyone think gemstone cavern works as a replacement?
And what is the big turn one play you plan on making to take advantage of one extra mana?

Apes > Werewolves.
I have found it is frequently troublesome to convert decks to Modern without a serious tear-down and an examinations of how the deck needs to perform.

I agree that werewolves are the way to go though. Watchkeep, Instigator, and Kruin Outlaw.
