In a quick update to everyone, Ive got two exams tomorrow, so I wont be updating this for a dayish, but it will be updated most likely tomorrow night/ Friday morning. Continue to send deck lists, as until a 3rd party can be arranged to verify them (not til next time) , I'm still doing it. You can simply build the deck and hit "save to clipboard" then paste it in a message.
And yes, I do have the deck lists logged in a notebook file on my computer, but thats just for judge purposes, and to open decklists at the end of each touri. I'm diffidently not maliciously going after decklists, because why would I want to? I just want to play and have fun.
This whole bit aside, I'd ask for a bit of trust. As good faith, I've put up my decklist. Next tournament, I will lock in my decklist first, so no possible changes can be made. In the future there maybe someone able to verify all of the deck lists, but to be honest, its a ton of work, and someone who has no attachment to the tournament probably wont want to do it. If they do, fine by me, less work I need to go after. Until then, this is how its working for this one. My MTG reputation on this. I hope this whole act garners enough trust that this doesn't come into question in the future, I'm doing this for community and love of the game.
Judges, simply view what games they can, making sure everything goes according to rules and to act as a witness for who wins.

I honestly think people are incorrectly assuming that I'm overreacting. I don't really care that much... I just gave insight to how this set up could be improved and my opinion on the current set up.
In any case, sign me up for this month's tourney... the fact that you shared your list with us is good enough for me for the time being.
I'll give you my deck ID in a bit; I might make some last minute changes.
Oh, that wasn't pointed towards you, hence the new paragraph. I'm sorry if that came off as me saying you were being a meany. =]

So an update to everyone. While verifying decklists to codes, I did have 2-3 decklists that I verified had a wrong codes. I've also had someone who tired to cheat, that I caught, so thats that.
Thanks for setting this up. Everyone around me was playing modern during the PTQ season, and now it's like it fell off the map
Thats why I'm doing it. My friends stopped playing too. So, I decided to take innatitive. If nothing is happening, make opportunities!
Edit: Good question added to OP!
Why do you need the Deck Code AND the Decklist?
Decklists are used for a couple reasons, one being I'm going to put them up at the end so everyone can learn and adapt for the next one (And modern in general) Also when you start a game, you load the deck in. the chat will say "Lantern Loaded Deck! (XXXX111XX)" Thats how we verify its the same. Anytime you enter a card into deck editor, it changes that code. Depending on how big your deck and SB are it can even add more numbers (thats how I caught the cheater). But luckly, unless someone is hacking or clicking cards until the correct code comes up, no one can see the decklists. That means one person (like me) has to take the decklist, load it into cockatrice, and check to see if the code matches the decklist.
Hi, I'd like to join this tournament please. Username beast89. My deck is 7plf6pvd / 138062.
I remember the mods and other users tried to run Cockatrice tournaments from the Modern forum but they never generated enough interest. I'm glad this one seems to have taken off!

Its true 20 (maybe 23) is so far very very good.
Theres 3 people Who have not sent me deck lists yet to verify, and I may have missed someone. Make sure you all check the front page to see your name/cockatricename/deck code is in orange!
Hey, you can count me in. My deck code is 2qduldeh and my username is Saint Tobias. I'll send you my deck list soon. I'm still kinda testing my deck, so can I change it before the tournament as long as I tell you the updated code?
cbus05/baddb: that may be the ID that it shows in your deck storage tab if you uploaded the deck to the server. your real ID you will see if you load the deck in a game... it should have letters and such.
Just out of curiosity, how will this tournament be structured if we don't have 32 (or in general, if the number of players is not equal to any exponent of 2). I'm assuming some people will have to get byes. How do you decide who gets a bye?
I'd like to change my deck if I may. Only playtested it twice so far but it looks better, besides YOLO and whatnot.
decktag = bamgridd
I don't think this guy is particularly out of line or anything, but we should come up with some sort of restrictions on this, I feel.. Lantern is doing enough work as it is without people changing their decks they've already submitted (possibly multiple times) before the event starts. If it were up to me, I would say that you're not allowed to change your deck once your name is in orange in the OP.

Right now I dont mind. Next time we can add that to the rules. So far has changing has been at convenient times, when up updating a batches of things. If the deck changes like 7 times, then Id have to say something, but so far no ones done it more then 2 times. Well see how it goes. But thanks for being mindful!

But.. but... He said "YOLO"
Surely he deserves to be reprimanded in one way or another..
I assumed my decklist wasn't actually checked yet, so I do feel bad that Lantern had to change it. In hindsight that's stupid as I could have known that.

Completely agree, he should be disqualified.
Anyways, I'd like to mention that when retrieving deck IDs, do not look at the number code in the "deck storage" tab if you have it uploaded to the server. Load the deck during a game and it will show the correct code (with letters and such).
That might be a good bit of info to add to the OP, lantern.

What exactly are the judges meant to do? Depending on what exactly the job entails I may be interested.
Am I meant to PM the list now?
