Hey, I recently started playing magic in the last year or so, and dont have alot of knowledge about modern, but i really wanted to make either a mono black, or a black/*some other color* Heartless Summoning deck, right now its kinda sudo standard and uses Rune Scared Demon and Phyrexian Metamorph as the main win condition but i was wondering what other cards might be good in a deck like that, but in the large pool of cards that is modern.

Sure its possible, but when your reducing the casting cost by 2, you could also just play tron lands and ramp faster (and bigger) or play a mana dork.
Also since modern (and pretty much all eternal formats) value efficence, having to spend a card (that could die) to enable effectiveness. Its sort of negative value. I'll go over what would make the card good, but how modern has "better".
Casting -2. Sure, but decks usually have better. Shamanism boosts a card with a relevant creature type and body that reduces their things for 1 at the same price. Also it has another which puts things directly into play for the same price.
"ramp" this card "ramps" you 2 but tron lands can (in the tron deck) ramp you +4. With signets and mana dorks, your better off in the ramp department doing that.
Killing your guys if you want the -1/-1 to be relevant, it would be to kill your dudes. This doesn't really do that effectively as say pod, which does it and tutors.
What this card does have over other options is the short term gain. That is you ramp 2 instantly the minute you drop it, no work no fuss. That means 4-6 mana creatures would be the sweet spot. Drop that, then next turn you're looking at 4 mana dudes for cheap. Id say you want to build a deck that is a bit more board controlling via creatures. Or you could just try to make titans midrange and hope the fact that most decks aren't built with "uncastable" large creatures in mind. They would need relevant enter the battle field triggers, and you would also want to be able to function sans heartless.
As for cards. Dunno. Have to really look into it. But I think the combo would be inherently less powerful than other tatics, so my advice would be to learn more of the modern tier decks, how they work, and attack from an odd angle they arent expecting.
I know there are a couple of threads at least in the deck Creation forum, I contributed to one or two, so I would go there and do a search for "heartless".
EDIT: Turns out that my pants are on fire- I did not contribute to any of the ones in Deck Creation, but there is one here in the Modern forum that probably should have been in the Deck Creation forum:Turn 3 Heartless Summoning Combo.
This was about as close to an official thread as we got. It was stickied for a while, but then it seemed interest died down.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
