Appetite for Brains seems like it could be usefull in modern. allot of decks run 4 mana cards, best of all it exiles witch is huge. Has anyone tried it? Im courious to see if its good.
Too bad its not cards with 3cmc or greater, they really missed the chance to make an amazing card.
Turn one, you cast this. Unfortunately, the said card likely wouldn't affect the board for quite a while, as it is 4cmc. Even if it was 3 cmc, I'd rather run Inquisition of Kozilek over this card.
Having said that, later on it could hit relevant cards. But if it was in my opening hand, I'd wish for inquisition or thoughtseize instead.
In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.
I run 3 in my UBC SB to bring in against Tron decks and the occasional TtB/Vengeance decks. I find it incredibly useful, especially against RG tron, you can hold out playing it until they have 2 pieces on board, and most of the time you'll hit.

I think it's safe to say if you're going to use them, they are probably only good against tron. Inquisition of Kozilek, Thoughtseize, and duress are way more relevant hand disruption.
I think Appetite for Brains is just too situational to be reliably useful. I think there is going to be way more misses than hits with it. Due to that, there is no reason to choose this card over playing a mix of Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek or even Duress for that matter. I'm also unsure over this card in the sideboard. As such I don't really have the appetite for this card.
Also Bloodbraid Elf, Elspeth, summoning trap, past in flames, kiki, splinter twin, mistbind clique, hive mind, through the breach and a handful of other cards.
It has no shortage of targets, the question is whether it's worth maindecking over thoughtsieze. If R/B reanimate/breach becomes a thing, then the exile could become meaningful.

I agree with this, but thoughtseize is far more versatile and is certainly worth a maindeck slot if you're going to have some form of hand disruption.
As you said, however, exiling is very relevant in some situations. For this reason, I think it could certainly be considered as a sideboard option against decks that reanimate 4 cmc or greater guys, or tron that casts emrakul. The only way to ultimately stop emrakul is with something like this (unless your opponent runs more than one, which is unusual but certainly possible).
Like I said, it's hard to beat the relevancy of thoughtseize, but appetite for brains is certainly a playable card in certain situations or against certain decks.

I cant afford thoughtseize, so i was thinking about the brains, its so close to worth mainboarding, if only it was 3 or greater I would mainboard it, exile is amazing

Yeah, I figured you were going for a budget option here.
Well, thoughseize is certainly the best hand disruption and you should aim for those, followed closely by inquisition of kozilek. IoK's are only 4 bucks a piece (they're on the rise, too, so I'd recommend getting them now if you want them) and are far better in most situations than appetite for brains.
