It could, you have access to great discard, minus Hymn, Lingering Souls can replace Bitterblossom, you have Bob, Steelshaper's Gift if you want swords. Serra Avenger, Thalia, Path to Exile. All of it could come together to make a decent deck replicating Deadguy Ale's strategy.
You could also run Restoration Angel to reset Tidehallow Scullers / Kitchen Finks

Of note here is that, if you time it right and have the mana, Restoration Angel and Tidehollow Sculler let you exile one card permanently and hit another normally.
Personally I'm not sure if it'll work. It seems like it might. Also I imagine Wrench Mind or Stupor would be the Modern Hymn.
THe first Modern GP had a Ale deck go 6-0 or something like that. Olschwagger was the pilot.

In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.
I think it is viable, a lot of the pieces are there and some new cards can added to it to make up for banned cards (like Sorin, Lord Of Innistrad over Bitterblossom, I know they are not comparable, but it could work). I think the deck can run Leonin Arbiter as well.

The Legacy version uses her, i imagine she's good in Modern, too. I know that i first pick her in Cube at every chance i get. She's a monstar. Monster and an All-star. I can imagine 5/5 flying Tidehollow Scullers can get annoying.
I'm asking about this primarily because I can't really invest into Legacy:Scrubland and Wasteland are out of my price range. (I got Bobs/shocks back when they were cheap huehuehue)
I decided on making a Vial variant: Off the top of my head, I'll include Bobs, Sculler, Serra Avenger and probably 2 Jotun Grunt. Kitchen Finks too.
Any other efficient B/W creatures to include? I was thinking maybe a few more 2-drops, perhaps a set of a 1-drops as well.
Oh, I thought he was talking about playing a spell that is countering a spell with counters on it as it comes into play, but I see you guys were just discussing whether he was flashing a creature with flash in order to flash a flashback or just flashing a creature with flash but not needing flash in order to flashback a spell without flash.
True, I may not have Chrome mox plays. But a modern version of deadguy is in a less powerful environment, so maybe such powerful plays won't be missed?

depending on your non-creature count Thalia makes plenty of decks rather upset, decent one drops in white for a more aggro approach you have Figure of Destiny and Student of Warfare. Black one drop creatures happen to all be junk, unless built around like Gravecrawler.
I've seen several WB lists in the daily events on MTGO, and several lists in Deck Creation. I don't know if they really qualify as "Deadguy Ale" because that is one of the many resource (land) disruption decks in Legacy, and of course we have no such thing in Modern.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
Not a complete list by any means, but a list of cards I thought of so far (aka cards I have)
Lands will likely be Marsh Flats + Godless Shrines + Basic Lands (Mutavault? What's that? What?)
Really though, without Vindicate, Hymn and the ability to Rit out a Hippy.. meh. its just WB Good Stuff

That in itself can't be terrible right? Deadguy in Modern would be a lot weaker, but Modern isn't as powerful as Legacy, so a Modern Deadguy would have less to deal with.
I wish since BW is my fav combination, but not good enough.
I still remember the guy from GP Lincoln playing BW. People here were saying his deck was very good. Hah!
Seriously some people don't know when a player is just being lucky.
I am not famliar with this deck, so forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference between Deadguy Ale and a BW variant of Death and Taxes? I am seeing a lot of card similarities in the suggestions, and D&T works on a mana denial principle.

I guess Death and Taxes utilizes Aether Vial more for tricks ie. Flickerwisp and Mangara, or Leonin Arbiter and PtE and GQ
Deadguy is probably not really about such interactions and more about A. Disruption (discard or land) and B. Beatdown, in that order.
Having said that, you are right. They do seem similar. However, I believe Aether vial is more essential for D&T. I doubt B/W D&T utilizes direct discard like thoughtseize or hymn.
dw about being unfamiliar, it's not like I know every deck in the world either lol. I just wanted to find a way to use my good ole Bobs, vials, and Godless shrines back from the days of Ravnica and Mirrodin and legacy's price tag is WAY too high for me

I'm aware of many good cards that are lost in modern (Stoneforge Mystic, Bitterblossom) but I think it can still be doable.
Thoughts?

@Nyzzeh I don't think that was deadguy at all, more like BW martyr imo.

Some dude named Frank Lepore made an attempt to try to replicate Deadguy into Modern as much as possible. Any thoughts on it?
