Questions and Concerns that have been brought up:
Is the upcoming new set legal?
If it's on cockatrice's official orical card database, then yes.
Where is my Deck Id?
There is two ways to do it. the easiest is to build your deck in deck editer and it will say it on the deck. This is the way I prefer, because I can pop in your deck list (which you PM me) and I can make sure its the same. The second way is to upload your deck to the server once you connect. Don't do it that way, do it the first way.
What are the points used for?
by the end of this run, we should have anywhere from 8-12 players. But wed rather have the end of the year Invitational be 16 players, thus there will be some "wild card spots" These points will go to that.
Is my decklist going to be revealed at the end of this?
Yes, unless you tell me not to. This is to furthing testing and community, so it will be. Let me know if you dont want it to.
Why do you need the Deck Code AND the Decklist?
Decklists are used for a couple reasons, one being I'm going to put them up at the end so everyone can learn and adapt for the next one (And modern in general) Also when you start a game, you load the deck in. the chat will say "Lantern Loaded Deck! (XXXX111XX)" Thats how we verify its the same. Anytime you enter a card into deck editor, it changes that code. Depending on how big your deck and SB are it can even add more numbers (thats how I caught the cheater). But luckly, unless someone is hacking or clicking cards until the correct code comes up, no one can see the decklists. That means one person (like me) has to take the decklist, load it into cockatrice, and check to see if the code matches the decklist.
I'll be playing, will get a decklist here by Saturday. Looking forward to it! Thanks again for running this, Lantern!

This is why I started playing magic in the first place. It wasn't PT aspirations just making noobs cry by doing things that are perfectly fair.
@flank: post your cockatrice username and deck ID then.
@Lantern: Just an idea, but maybe you could make a general thread for the "lantern IQ" tourneys? One where you can post the decklists and results after each IQ, and we can discuss the system, etc... stuff that doesn't have to do with each individual IQ. Just an idea.

If the mods would approve that, Id go for it. As far as I was told, I could have these on the main page per touri.
Had to edit the deck list, as I was missing a card (59 main) so, I edited it. No decklists or codes in yet. I expect to be throughally trashed in this one.
C'mon, that's easily the most fair outcome this can reach without changing the system. If he knows our lists, I don't see reason for us not to know his.
- Really, I'm with feathers; I don't think it really needs to be done. In the small chanced case that someone actually tries to cheat with their list, there actually is a decent-sized chance that they will get caught.
- With the way it is now, the tournament structure is more degenerate than it would with only a couple low-lifes running a 16 card sideboard. I don't mind that as much as people knowing my whole decklist, or even me knowing theirs. It takes away from the game, as I start to mulligan hands I would normally keep, etc.
- If you guys really think that some sort of check needs to be done, there are better ways to do it. My last idea was good, but it seemed to get vetoed by the community as it was "too much work" (even though I really don't think it was). Another idea is waiting until after the tournament is over, and then checking the decklists. That way, it fixes the problem, and also lessens the work-load, as you'd only really need to check the decklists of the top 4. I'm sure there are other ways to make the system better as well; these are just ideas. In any case, I think it should be done, as it makes the system better without much drawback.
EDIT: The more I think about it, the more I like my new idea (stated above). If we checked the decklists of the top 4 after the tourney, it would discourage cheaters as a whole because they would know that they couldn't place well and cheat at the same time. It also makes lantern's work load a lot less, as he would only have to check 4 lists. Lastly, it also solves the main problem, as no one would have to know anyone else's lists during the actual tournament.
What are people's thoughts to my new idea?
EDIT#2: @Torm: I suggested that before but everyone disliked it for some reason. Maybe my new idea is better.
Right, feathers, I don't either. But apparently some of these other people do think that, so I'm trying to create new ideas that can make our differing opinions coexist.
I'll let this issue come up for the last time. Not that I mean it in a snappy way, just the issue has come up often enough it should be resolved. I think its important for someone to go over the decklists before the start of it. It also allows for order when releasing them as well and on time. Yes I play, but I've locked my deck list in before anyone has even sent theirs.
Sure this allows me to see the decklist, but thats really not that huge, so long as I cant deck build it in mind, as we saw last IQ where I was knocked out round 1.
So here's our options for our free open no reward tournament:
1. Keep things as are. Lantern checks decklist for legality, extended sideboards, ect, as well as keeping it organized for decklist release. Lantern locks in Code before decklists come in.
Pros: Every deck is checked, opponents have assurance, deck lists released on time, Meta game can be released (overall % of arch types)
Cons: Lantern knows decklist of person he plays against. One person could accidentally miss something.
2. Having people send in their decklists after top 8. This encourages no cheating happens, but only after some eliminations.
Pros: it Encourages against cheating, allows for some anonymity, no one can "predict" moves on decklists.
Cons: Cheating can still happen, slows down tournament until decklists can be gathered, Overall meta left unknown.
3. Completely trust on userbase. Collect no lists.
Pros: faster, less organizing.
Cons: No meta analizise, no top decklists, no verification.
4. Have a 3rd party check.
Pros: No one knows the decklists who is involved, meta can still be shown, top decklists still shown.
Cons: I can not organize it, therefore can not insure security, or stability of the role (it would very from contest to contest) A ton of work for someone not playing, no one has stepped up to the plate. If only one person, one person could accidentally miss something. If it goes from person to person, no one really gets used to the process.
Hopefully in a few days people will give an answer. In the mean time, sign up for the tournament, just give deck codes.

Nobody needs to know anyone's lists.
It's the easiest way to ensure that someone is not using a 16 card sideboard or something, or is sticking to the Modern banlist.
Something a security code alone can't tell you.

Right, but then it's less organized and speedy, and could have gaps. Thats also an issue.
