This 1000 times over. Wotc got this right, the Modern card pool needs to go thru Standard. No special product. Tho I would do back flips for a Modern Chronicles type packed set. Packs like that would be amazing to play limited with.
I agree with my mortal enemy, here, I would rather wizards be unhindered by non-eternal format concerns. I used to want them legal, but reading the thoughts and reasons of MaRo has shown the wisdom of the decision.
What I do think is that Wizards needs to be a skosh more progressive when it comes to reprinting these cards in Standard legal sets, however.
Coldsnap was part of Ice Age block but played in Timespiral and it wasn't a hassle at all. In fact it promoted some decks we wouldnt have seen otherwise (Dragonstorm. Skred control. Martyr of Sands. Rune Snag.)
In addition to what others have said, Coldsnap was really not part of Ice Age. It also did cause some confusion when it came to the reprints they made just for the pre-cons. Plenty of people thought that they could play their Swords to Plowshares and Brainstorms that they got from the pre-con decks, in Standard play. That was easily the most regrettable part of how that set was executed, from Wizards point of view.
Second, I feel like there are Four types of people who are interested in Modern. (1)People who stopped playing around Lorwyn/Alara. (2)People who want Old Extended part two, and not Legacy. (3)People who started recently and are looking to get mileage out of their Standard decks. (4)And people who actually have an interest in the format as it is.
The closest for me is #4, but that description leaves a lot of gray area. I think Bocephus and I both would identify in that catagory, and we argue about almost everything else, so I am not sure how useful tha grouping. Besides, I think alomost every one would self identify as type 4, but you might still see them as more like type 2 (for example).
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
That is unlikely, such an expansion is not going to sell enough.
I think you would be surprised. Depending on how they did them, it could be a huge limited set. I personally think a set like this would sell very well.
I think some of the cards would be great to have from commander and planeschase, but I think it would be better if they just printed them in a regulsr set so we could have them. I don't know why they don't put scavenging ooze in a core set.
And cbus is right, there's a lot of cards that are technically in the modern pool thanks to premium decks, duel decks, etc. and some of those cards would just make some decks almost as powerful as their legacy variants

You do understand most people considered Goyf as being over powered, to some broken, and ooze is BETTER then Goyf. I dont see how it would not be broken in Modern.

They claim that they will print it when it fits in the set from a design and flavor standpoint, which makes me hopeful that it will get reprinted with Golgari in RTR. That is clearly a biased hope, but I don't think too much.

You are taking people's opinions and twisting them around claiming it's a fact. Ooze is in no way, shape, or form strictly better than goyf. They are two cards meant to do two different things. While ooze is great in certain aspects, goyf is still the faster card.

Justify it to yourself any way you wish. Ooze isnt a $30 card because it sucks and no one wants to play with it. Ooze is replacing Goyf in eternal format as the go to green creature. That says a lot.

Scavenging ooze is not really better than tarmogoyf in a vacuum. Tarmogoyf is a large beater when it comes into play. Scavenging ooze starts as a 2/2 always. Its utility against graveyard-based decks is what makes it amazing, and thus a lot of legacy lists that need this sort of utility employ it because they can always tutor for one with green sun's zenith. Any other green deck that needs an actual win-con just runs 4 tarmogoyfs.
Besides, I wish they'd reprint tarmogoyf way more than I wish they'd print scavenging ooze in a standard legal set. Tarmogoyf isn't broken, he's merely the most efficient green creature in magic.

There are more goyfs in the world than oozes. The prices speak for themselves. Ooze replaced goyf in some decks b/c those decks are weak to Snapcaster et al. Decks that want to just splash green or just want an efficient beater will always choose goyf first.
