with doubling season out and wheel of sun and moon targeting you. play jace. he enters the battlefield with 8 counters, then ultimate him, he goes to the bottom of the deck then you search your opponents library for a spell and you search your library for jace
lather, rinse, repeat until you are satisfied.

The idea is cute, but probably way too fragile. 3-card combos are always really awkward to set up, especially since you'll probably have to have at least one sit in play without getting destroyed for a turn or more. Not to mention one of your critical pieces costs 5 mana.
For the kitchen table, probably. For anything above that, probably not.
oh don't get me wrong, it's incredibly cute and Im not convinced it even warrants a tier. I just wanted to get some discussion out there for other modern combos.

I want to build something with Epic Experiment (and then combo off with Grapeshot + Remand or something like that). The most obvious is in the U/R storm shell, but I actually think that's wrong. I'd love to build some sort of control deck that builds up to the one turn where you just go off.
wait... doubling season doubles the counters PUT on permanents.. do that doubles the counters of permanents that ENTER the battlefield with counters?? I didn't know that please correct me

Problem is Modern is such an aggro format right now that I'm not sure this deck can possibly exist.
In established, there is a deck called ritual gifts that does just such a thing. The thread author is legitkarona. Look there!

Entering the battlefield puts counters on those permanents, so yes, this definitely works.

Just to clear this up a bit more:
When Doubling Season says "would place one or more counters" it's talking about your physically placing counters on the card. So, yes, when a PW enters the battlefield you have to PHYSICALLY place the counters on the card (since it doesn't have the counters on it when it's in your hand or on the stack.)
To give you a counterexample. Skullbriar, the Walking Grave (+Doubling Season); if you were to say play him from your Graveyard and he had 2 counters on him. He would enter the battlefield with 2 counters on him, because technically he had the counters on him in the 'yard.
Jarad's Orders seems like a good Project X or Body Double combo enabler. Epic Experiment seems like a natural fit in a UR storm deck. I haven't seen any new combos yet.

This is incorrect. Doubling season reacts to effects, planeswalkers gain tokens as ETB effects, therefore are affected. Doubling season has no effect on the +1 ability of PWs because it's a cost and not an effect.

I'm aware. I actually tested ritual gifts for a few months, which is why I thought of putting it in that shell. It just seems far too slow for the meta.
Yeah, ditch wheel of sun and moon. This is a 2 card combo that lets you cast 4 spells from your oponent's deck, plus an Emrakul from yours. You can also go off with Clockspinning, proliferate, and such, if doubling season is too clunky, and still get an Emrakul. This is one of the few planeswalkers whose ultimate will immediately win the game even with no other cards around or having any sort of board presence, so it might actually sorta work.
emrakul is a bad idea... as a 1 of... if you draw it, your combo is dead.
as more than one of... your guaranteed to clog your hand with uncastable cards.

There are only 2 seasons each year... summer and hockey, and summer lasts too long.

so play faithless looting....make it rug, and have a single ETW and a single emrakul....EtW is still castable, and if youre playing manamorphose as a way to fix your mana, then yoiu can h play it on a storm count of like 3 or 4, to give a ton of chumpers
idk, just an idea

Hey everyone watch out. This guy found the secret to magic. We can close the thread now.
Anyways. I've been having some fun with the deck like I said, nothing to serious, thinking about making it a bant style so I can have access to *** and idyllic tutor.

You play things like Dreadship Reef and Molten Slagheap to go along with your rituals to pump mana. Muddle the Mixture to either protect your experiment or go find it, and and possibly Boseiju, Who Shelters All to make sure it goes off.
Problem is Modern is such an aggro format right now that I'm not sure this deck can possibly exist.

With the way Jace's ultimate works, you cast itself and a card from your opponents deck, so you basically just cast your opponents deck.
seems like a could start... now add some control elements and lets make a playable deck
-4 birds
+4 remand
-4 amass
+4 serum visions
-3 pact
+3 into the roil or cryptic command or repeal
I really wish repulse was legal
