Pffft, white border is outdated and stupid.
The set is made to lower the card prices to price X for goyf, for example.
If they don't lower it to the point they aimed in the first place, that's when the "second wave" of reprints comes.
We don't care about people QQing about their card prices dropping.
Not that they aren't still in time to sell the cards for their current's price.
aaron spoke about bat token. We can assume either skeletal vampire or belfry spirit in the set.i think thespirit could be nice.
The mention of the bat token actually gets me worried. Neither Skeletal vampire nor belfry spirit are cards that want to see in modern masters. I understand that they can't just throw together a pile of the top c/unc/r/m cards in the current modern meta, but I also don't want to be paying $7 a booster for chaff.
The more I think about Modern Masters, I can't help but feel that Wizards gave into peer pressure. Everyone kept asking for them to reprint Goyf, and they couldn't stand by forever.
Tarmogoyf was shifted into future sight. We knew this meant its inevidble reprint.
Bridge from Below, and Narcomeoba too. Modern Masters just means we know there's still at least one more printing of Goyf comming.

What's the big deal? You could have played multiple Righteous Avengers for years now.

Do you really expect every card printed in Modern Masters to be a competitive staple or money card in Modern? Thats a little unrealistic.
It's also a good limited card, and I would expect to see several things like that. Even if some of the cards aren't good in constructed, I think that this might be kind of a derpy limited format.
The set is 8 months away. It have not been printed yet, I think they will start print Gatecrash late November. Making the set have white borders is an easy change if they want to make it, so if we make our voices loud enough it could be done without raising the costs for WotC.
White border is an abomination and you should feel bad for suggesting it to WotC.
no, white border is a statement saying "if you play these cards, you're lesser than me because you don't have the originals." you got your goyf reprint, now deal with the stigma that comes with playing a reprint
plus it'll keep the value of the originals while increasing market supply of the cards. it makes logical sense if they respect people's collections (which they said they do).

I speak in sarcasm because calling people ******* ******** is not allowed.
Lol can't believe this is a discussion, the product is not and can not be changed to white border! They just use alt art now. I don't like the new Goyf one either.
why can't it be changed? the decision to finalize print comes just a few months before its supposed to be released. see: delver, jace, and batterskull.

And why the hell would we do that on the first place????
White Border SUX TOTALLY.
I'm hoping for Urza lands to be there so i can just have non-foil black border modern frame urza lands.
I own cards worth about 25 USD that could lose value because of Modern Masters, so I'm not speaking out of self intrest right now. I would like Modern Masters to have white borders because of the reason I listed above. Reprint only sets have traditionally been white borders, and I think it was a good practise. I would lower demand a bit and that would make it possible for everyone who want to buy the set a better chance to find it at MRSP.
And do you really think that it would make a difference? Modern staples such as goyf and bob are expensive because of the high demand and low availabilty. I has nothing with collections and such, so making them white border or not will make no difference.
If their price got lowe is because of the higher availability, and the border will have no influence at all.
if the border has no influence, why would it matter if it was white bordered then? why is a 10th edition wrath of god 1.5x as expensive as a 8th or 9th edition?

Most probably availability. If you look on starcity, 8th and 9th wrath have absolutely the same art, both white bordered and the 8th one is more expensive.
People prefer black border when they have a choice because it looks better, but in the case of cards that they don't have a lot of options they will get what they can.
Also are you worried because you spend a lot of money on cards that wasn't on the reserved list are going to be reprinted? All these cards are subject to being reprinted, so you took a risk and lost, get over it ;D

Deliberately making your product less desirable is not a common business practice. I think they've learned their lesson from white borders.

I highly doubt all three Urza lands will show up. Even one is trolling us. Modern Masters is apparently going to be draftable (or we wouldn't have a Modern Masters Limited GP coming up), and if there's one Modern archetype that's undraftable, it's Tron. (Seriously, how are you going to be lucky enough to get around 2 of each Urza land and/or awesome amounts of nonbasic land search?)
I expect Affinity, Storm, and RDW to be draftable archetypes before Tron is.
White borders seems like a bad idea. The idea of reprinting cards with new art is perfect. Take tarmagoyf as the first example; the new art doesn't have the same feel as the old. Sure the card will see a drop right off the bat, but honestly i don't see the future sight goyf taking a big price hit.
I do forsee a dip in bob and thoughtsieze.
The big implication will be everyone will have modern cards in their binder so it won't be a needle in a haystack finding cards for you modern deck.
A+++ to wizards.

I don't mind taking a significant hit in the value of my collection if it means I can play modern at FNM
This. Those crying about the value of their modern cards should sell now then. They've given you 8 months warning. How are you guys going to complain anyways. Modern was created to be able to reprint staples so if you bought a ton of modern cards up as an investment you did it wrong. Grab cards on the reserve list if that is your goal.

Wow. This post should be stickied somewhere. This is what everyone should want. I got my Finks for 2 bucks a piece. Now they are 8. Do I care? No. Because it's really hard to find a decent number of people that will touch modern in my LGS. When I get to play Modern, its against the same guy that only plays combo...

Yeah i know. But just because the set is supposed to be draftable, that don't means that every single card needs to be great draft option.

Wow, they expressed their opinion and should feel bad because it's different from the general population of players?

I'm completely ok with him being reprinted. I would rather play people in games of modern then be the only person playing him.
