Let's pitch as many of the decks that represented their time in standard/extended and port them into modern. This isn't limited to the 8th ed/Mirrodin cut off, but older archetypes may be harder to port.
Why:
The purpose of this thread is to revive old archetypes and provide a venue for brewers and possibly old standard players to join the modern format. As more cards are entered into the modern pool, some of these decks may become closer to being ported into the format.
How:
Propose - We'll need to propose decks. I don't personally have as vast a knowledge on what decks have actually been good as I only played during the Mirrodin and Shadowmoor-Lorwyn Standard, so I'll need people to pitch as many decks as possible that they know from their standard periods that we might be able to work on. If possible, please specify which standard season the deck is from, and possibly provide a decklist (preferably that which has placed in tournaments).
Assess - We need to determine which decks have potential. Are there cards that can reinforce these decks? Make them better? Or replace cards that are no longer available due to banning or simply not making the 8th Ed/Mirrodin cut off. And which decks are completely un-portable due to inaccess to key cards such as Astral Slide or Psychatog.
Discuss/Develop - Any decks that have been deemed to be portable may have a thread created for its development and be worked on there. This thread will serve more as a directory to these developing threads. As well as a light discussion area for these past archetypes.
As a side note: try to disregard whether or not an archetype would work in the current meta, that is, don't dismiss Reanimator simply due to graveyard hate being rampart in the current meta (etc).
Also, when determining a archetype as unportable, please provide an explanation: Example, you can't port Psychatog, because Psychatog isn't in Modern and there are no substitutes.
Archetypes will be listed below and linked to existing threads (if any):
There were a lot of combo decks such as Project X that are simply outclassed by newer combos. You left Doran off your established list.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
There were a lot of combo decks such as Project X that are simply outclassed by newer combos. You left Doran off your established list.
I actually keep wondering why Project X never morphed into Project X Pod. Would it be because Crypt Champion and Blood Artist (Blasting Station can take Blood Artist's place) are that much worse in a Pod shell than Melira and Viscera Seer (Saffi Eriksdotter is the closest to Kitchen Finks's quality, and she can even be dead pre-combo)? Both Project X and Melira Pod are hosed by Linvala and Deathrite Shaman, and if both have pieces removed mid-combo, their board position gets significantly worse (although Project X loses 2 guys to Melira Pod's 1.5).
A while back I was looking at old Extended decks, since they included Modern-legal sets. Most of them got killed by bannings (Hypergenesis, Thopter Depths, Elves, Zoo, etc). However, one of them was completely untouched. It managed to put up 2 GP Top 8s in 2010.
That deck is Brozek Deck Wins, a RW Landfall aggro deck:
If it could win in a format where Thopter Depths and Hypergenesis were legal, just think about how well it could do in Modern, where those cards don't exist.
The Architect list shown here isn't even close to the best version. The version from post-ban NPH standard has much more potential, abusing cards like Everflowing Chalice and Lighthouse Chronologist. Here's the list that took 2nd in the Polish Nationals that year
Probably not good now, but still fun to play, and something to keep in mind if they ever give us any more snow cards.

I support WotC's goal of shaping Modern in favor of diversity.
I ran a thought experiment on my blog Modern in a Nuclear Wasteland
of an extreme case of banning 20 more cards to make sure they get everything, then scaling back where appropriate. WotC seems to be on a slowly build up approach. Both ways probably reach similar end points.
The post Gatecrash metagame is proving to be closer to the endpoint than I estimated, so its very possible that few (if any) more cards need to be banned.
@Claymore, thanks for that It's been something I've been considering for some time and only really got around to doing it recently.
Edit:
Thanks for the lists Daklein! I'll add them to the OP shortly.
What's really nice about these standard lists is that you can just go off and "upgrade" them into modern. Really liking a lot of the lists, and it's good to see others interested in the idea.
I want to see old school Next Level Blue or U/x Tezzerator but the decks that hate on them are mostly banned. Not to mention Sword of the Meek is also banned.
I want to see a mix of Architect/Black Market decks. I would love a lock down deck like that.

I am convinced that WotC is "dumbing" the game because of all the stupid posts they come across on MTG-related forums

Just gonna toss out there that this deck is already viable, no need to really test it imho. Once I get around to updating the Boros primer it is one of the first lists going in.
The deck is strong but the reason it hasn't been able to preform I think is because often times you put a lot of effort into pumping a landfaller and it may end up just getting removed, it is very fast if undisrupted however, just really has problems with Abrupt decay and Path to Exile.

As it falls under the Boros Umbrella (segue, which funnily enough is also Red and White in Resident Evil), I'll be placing it into the established list under Boros and linking to your Primer, Graycross.
