They were just saying that the Pros are complaining because there is not an established meta game they can plan for.
Personally I like it because it comes down to just piloting your deck rather than hating out the meta game.
Pros dont want variety. They want to be able to know what they are going to play so they can build decks and sideboards to answer everything they will face. With the diversity of the format, they can not do that. They will always have decks they have bad match ups with, no matter how prepared they are for the tournament. Thats a good thing in my eyes.
I've seen a lot of Pros arguing that a field too open is bad for them 'cause they can't realistically be ready for all the top decks and build a SB accordingly.
I can understand that argument, but I like unpredictable formats.
when you don't know the meta, you either play super aggro, good stuff mid range, or combo. not exactly too far off what we have now.
Which is why control has a problem in the format. To play control in any format you must have an idea of all the decks you will face. You dont have that in Modern. Yet there is still control being played and doing well.
dunno where you get control is doing well. wur control isn't that good of a deck. it has a few finishes, but only because there is a metric ton of creature based decks out there. its game plan is to wrath the board several times then out draw their opponent. in my experience, gifts is better, and its still a shaky deck.
i see the players for top 8, anyone know the decks they're playing?

I speak in sarcasm because calling people ******* ******** is not allowed.
Did you guys just see how frustrating was for kibler to get paired against eggs against? Game one writes F6 on a piece of paper and waits, sees a twincast and scoops...really not healthy for modern, but "fun".
Mhjames: mtgsalvation: I DON'T SEE HOW THIS CARD IS GOOD. I KNOW PATRICK CHAPIN USED IT AND WENT 8-0, BUT THAT WAS A SMALL TOURNAMENT. THE CARD IS TOO SLOW. YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THE OPPONENT HAS A SPELL IN THE GRAVEYARD
Kibler's got a good sense of humor about it, which is nice to see.
I laughed out loud when they cut back to the Holiday/Kibler game and Nathan Holiday's board is just covered in cards and Kiber is nowhere to be seen (probably in the bathroom again). Poor Kibler.
Yeah, the chat box next to the stream is just Loling like crazy. This is truly hilarious.

I don't get how people can defend this thing...it's not even a matter of how good the deck is but how frustrating it would be to have a lot of games like this...I don't think this lines up with wizards fun policy at all...

Vintage nostalgic, WUB Fish control/aggro addicted.
Legacy:RUG Temur Delver
Modern: ??? undecided.
His honest creatures can only sit and watch helplessly... Tarmogoyf is like "why is he doing this to us? We can't stop him?"
Deathrite Shaman sat there like "I CAN DO NOTHING!"
Ah well. At least he was a good sport about it. I woulda' probably scooped up long before he did.

I'm looking for David McDarby's scapeshift deck list with the wall of roots.
You know what also doesn't usually have an established Meta?
The Pro Tour.
