I don't see how you can hold your earlier position in good faith after admitting that midrange is perfectly doable (and potent) minus green in Modern; whether you're playing UW Midrangel or UWR Geist of St. Win (which is undeniably Midrange).
It's not an 'exception' to a rule when it encompasses two decks that are T1.5 or better...
Little derailing but ok. I guess your opinion of what A midrange can be detirmined by your definition of a midrange.
Certainly you can choose that route if you like. Bear in mind though, you are walking in the footsteps of many. If you use creatures to attack a creature based meta you are not assassinating the meta - you are part of it. Basically, everyone is already doing what you are suggesting. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but you asked about attacking the meta - it's something I am quite good at.
The RW lockdown is only one example of the assassin decks I run. You are correct that RW lockdown has a built in weakness to counterspells. You know what? I am perfectly ok with that flaw. I know of no one deck that has a strong game against ALL other decks. That said, your meta assassin deck should only be weak to relatively unpopular strategies.
For a long time, Modern was wonderfully free of counter spells. Folks had written off blue, and draw go control, as weak. Since the seething song ban however, a lot of coutnerspell heavy lists have been cropping up. Draw go is still mostly considered not viable, but whenever people say things like that it tends to inspire folks to prove the masses wrong.
If jund and Tron is your goal, I wouldn't suggest the RW lockdown. It has a great game against Jund, but against blue tron it is weak. Might I suggest a creatureless, mono black discard deck? I have a few lists that have performed very well. One in particular that splashes red for Pyroclasm and Bolt I am quite fond of.
The decks I am suggesting aren't boros, but they are meta assassins. If you are interested I will post a list or two.
Dont know about OP, but I'd be quite interested in taking a look at the mono black discard deck you've been brewing.
I have several creatureless black discard decks that assassinate this meta quite well. This list here probably has the most universal appeal since it splashes Red for the amazing Pyroclasm and Bolt package for removal.
The plan here is fairly simple. Destroy their hand, kill them with Rack and Shrieking affliction. Liliana keeps their hand empty. Raven's Crime does a large amount of work here and for this reason it out numbers Toughtseize. The mana curve here caps at an astonishingly low 3cc, so any extra lands you draw are useless without Raven's Crime.
Ensnaring Bridge is an all star here. Destroying their hand empties our own, Ensnaring Bridge rewards this condition by providing you with protection from creatures. Meanwhile Liliana and your racks do their evil work.
There is some flexibility in the list. If your meta doesn;t contain a ton of fast aggro you can probably drop the red splash, I have quite a few iterations along that line as well.
Anyways there you guys go. Let me know if it helps.
I agree it is but let me rephrase. Midrange can be interpreted into different deck forms in some people's opinion obviously it may be bed truly in green. I want to know if I can do it in boros and it survive a matchup with decks as tron or scape shift, and other modern staples
Alright, I seem to have a solid idea on what I want in boros and I think a swords variant is my kinda thing with modern red white. Especially after seeing how well Mirran crusader does with a sword crashing in for double triggers

The definition of Midrange is pretty set in stone:
