In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.

Are we officially saying that M13 will be permitted in this round provided that it is available on Cockatrice?
It reads to me that M13 will be allowed if it patches into Cockatrice by June 30th so that we all have time to play with it before the July 8th signup deadline. If it's patched later than that, we will wait until the August invitational to use M13, I believe.
Since the M13 release isn't until middle of July, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole set wasn't fully spoiled and so can't be patched in time. (It's only at 181/249 right now, so it could go either way, I s'pose.)

Will magic 2013 be in this one? Or do we not know yet.
Either way, I'll be joining. I hope you don't mind if I post my decklist a bit later.

If a patch is up by the 30th, yes. I'm really hoping for a full official patch, but I'm willing to reflect a bit on if there is an mtg sal patch up... Its really so we get a real chance to test with the community.
ANy chance we could do Swiss in these events? Might let people become more vested in the event. Thus making people more inclined to care about later rounds. Just a thought.
Of course we would need software for the OWLP.
Double elim I'm willing to try if we got the right website I can use for it. But I worry, it wont finish by our month deadline.

Exactly right. But depending on how everyone feels about a almost complete patch, or a user made mtg sal patch, Im willing to think about it.

I remember a Legacy Cockatrice tourny in the Legacy forums a couple months back that was Swiss based and it finished within a month. Granted there were slightly fewer participants (~20 as opposed to 30), but I'm pretty sure we can do it provided one of us is good at tournament math=]

With Double Elimination we'd have a lot of matches. Just like, a heads up. I'm doing some snooping around for a bracket maker by the way. I may have found one, I'm going to keep looking though.
I really like the idea of double elimination (especially since I was knocked me out first round) but it seems less practical and I'd rather have more tournaments than run over the deadline. Maybe double elimination would work best for whatever tournament the people with the most points get into.
EDIT: Burning pumpkin brawl! I just reread the OP so I'd know the name. Also, my name isn't listed. My guess would be because I did not have a decklist submitted and I didn't state that I'd like to wait until the 30th. I'd like to wait until the 30th.

Tantarus: It didn't make the gaka greifer level, so it should be fine
Alright, because people would rather it (and I'm with yall I got knocked out first round both times) We'll try a double elem. I'll amend the rules as needed, but diffenat details yet since I got to look into it. The real problem is the points will get screwy.
But heres the deal, were going to have to me much more fast with our matches, so we can make up for the extra matches that need to happen. If we cant finish this 3rd one in a decent enough time, well have to switch back to single elem.

Well the Burning Pumpkin Brawl is what you get invited to. Currently Doditto is the only one with the honor. and your signed up for number 3 now. I was le sleepy.
Edit: I beleive If found a good solution to the points. Also! I found an amazing bracket maker online that lets me do less work, and has an double elem choice too. (as well as round robin. What the fudgenugget is round robin?). A small side note, it also allows for picture or video attachments. So if your doing a match report of your game, comantating someone elses, or theres a funny/cool board position, take a pic or a video, and send it to me.
Use Challonge.com to set up a double elim bracket.
And I'm in- same code as before.
Beat ya too it. Yeah, there really good, so after this one, were using that. Also like i said a post before, this bracket also has attachments in case you were video recording for match reports, comminating for fun, or taking a picture of cool/funny board positions. I can publish thoses.
As far as the points go, were going to do this. 1st place is still first place. Second place is still second place. 3/4 are still going to get the same points. If needed (sometimes double elem can have a weird bracket at the end. 5th place will get the same points. Thats a very rare case, so it shouldnt even come up.
derp. I looked when I got up this morning and you were still looking for a site. So i went and found one (challonge.com) and created one and PM'ed you Lantern. I suppose you can disregard that PM now though!
But, I am curious, why can't we run the dbl elim for this 3rd IQ?

Double Elim makes 1-2-3-4-5/5/-7/7 due to the way in which it plays out.
The other important difference is that if you're coming up from the loser's bracket at the end, you need to beat the person in "Winner's" in two straight sets.

we are. Were using this months as a test run. So long as we finish in a timely matter, I think we'll use it from here on.

I think to make it easier on us, unless people object, we might just make the last match (winner vs winner of loser bracket) best out of 5. That would make it a tad quicker (not needing to play up to 6 games) and able to do it in one sitting. Yay or Nay on that one?

This thread will be stickied as soon as the second IQ is done.
Also, it looks like the yearly invitational winner will receive a MTGS trophy.

EDIT: Lantern, could you include the deadlines for the 3rd IQ in the second post?
Woot. Awesome news is awesome. I shall update the news section with it.
Will do.
