Talking about Scourge of Valkas, you can win off two storm into dragonstorm if you have any other dragon in play beforehand. I was specifically thinking slumbering dragon. Then the first scourge deals 2 the second causes a total of 6 and the third causes a total of 12 for exactly 20 lethal. Idk if that even brings it back into playable range since there is still the issue of hitting 9 CMC for dragonstorm.
This card was actually used as an example of a card they would never make a mythic. Reprint at rare is fantastic
Especially in a core set. This was one of those cards that seemed like an auto-include in Modern Masters, and now it makes perfect sense why it wasn't.

Now, this does leave open for the potential for thoughtseize to be printed at Mythic if it is in M14, but it is such a blatant utility card that and MaRo has recently been talking about Mythics not being utility cards.
My guess: If it is in it is Rare.
I am not too unhappy about that at all, because coresets are printed and opened in such huge numbers that Muty and Seize would drop dramatically in price.
I think I will be spending money on M14, where as I spent very little on MM.
If the thoughtseize rumours in M14 are true, it leaves room for question why a select few popular modern money cards were not included in MM, but in M14.
Seeing as MM will certainly be sold a lot less than actual real standard sets. it makes sense to save some money cards to help sell a core set that is one of their main sources of income.

Well, I guess you could look at the two cards and say that they are some of the most utilitarian cards in Modern, and they are two of the cards least likely to harm standard, so I suppose you could make a case for them in M14. Not to mention Slivers like Mutavault. Why put them in M14 and MM, and M14 is going to bring them down to reasonable prices, where as MM would only make a tiny temporary dent in the price.

+1: Reveal the top five cards of your library. Put all creature cards revealed this way into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.
-3: You may put a green creature card from your hand onto the battlefield
-7: You get an emblem with "Whenever you cast a creature spell, you may search your library for a creature card, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library." Starting loyalty: 4
Pretty exciting guy. He's not my girl Lilly, but he's also thankfully not Sorin.
The first thing that needs to be mentioned: Dramatic Entrance is already in the format. People need to remember this when evaluating Garruk's -3. Paying 6 mana for an effect that otherwise costs 5, and sees no play, is not good on its own. It gets significantly better in tandem with his other abilities, but remember that this comes at a 6 mana price tag.
The Garruk emblem is as close to a "game over" ultimate as we have in format, which makes me want to play this guy with Doubling Season. As a plus, a doubled Garruk even survives his own -6 ability. It's even on color with the enchantment. That probably doesn't make it a viable combo (Doubling Season walkers has yet to be viable in this format), but it's at least something fun and interesting to brainstorm.
The other important consideration, one that I am still thinking over, is what else you can buy for 5 or 6 mana in this format. Would I rather cast new Garruk than Wurmcoil Engine? Or Primeval Titan? 5 mana gets you Thundermaw Hellkite. Very little sees play in this manacost range, and Garruk would realy need to put in serious work to justify his cost. At first glance, I'm not seeing him as a standout Modern stple (Standard is another story), but I might be missing some synergies. After all, dropping Garruk into a Progenitus/Worldspine Wurm is a much better play than using Dramatic Entrance to get those guys out, giving you a lot of card advantage on the next turns.
Strong in EDH, but Primal Hunter is better and he doesn't see any play atm
Garruk feels way, way better than poor Chandra Ablaze. His +1 will draw you 2-3 cards in the right deck, his -3 can protect himself much more efficiently than Chandra's +1, and his ultimate more or less wins the game on the spot. Then again, it doesn't take much to be better than her.
I just don't see how a 6 cmc Walker that does not have the board effect that Karn does will be all that strong outside of corner cases. He still does not beat out Wildspeaker for general usefulness. Karn is six loyalty for seven colorless mana, it seems to me that Garruk Beats could have had a loyalty of five (or maybe six)
I wonder how good Garruk 4.0 is in Combo Elves. 6 mana for a Lead the Stampede is a ripoff, and you only get a slight discount on Regal Force, but cheaper Craterhoof Behemoth is intriguing.
Nah, I don't think he'll make the cut. He doesn't affect the board. The Lead the Stampede effect affects the hand, and the Dramatic Entrance effect varies based on the number of high-CC creatures in your deck. Play too few, you won't have one to put into play. Play too many, your curve suffers.
To be honest, I think even Garruk Wildspeaker (the original) fares better than this fourth Garruk. The Dramatic Entrance only provides a 2 mana discount on Craterhoof Behemoth, which is the same as Garruk Wildspeaker's "untap two lands".
Dramatic Entrance won't be what makes the card good; that's more likely to be for emergencies when he has no other way to protect you or himself on the same turn. It's getting to Lead the Stampede every turn. On average, the value you get in the right deck will be akin to a Harmonize (you don't want to draw lands with 6 mana). The card advantage is nigh unbeatable if he survives more than a turn. He's not going to be a staple, but he definitely has some niche value.
He's not good in combo elves because your opponents game plan against you doesn't change with him in the deck. Kill your lords, heritage/sentinel to keep you off a bunch of mana and eventually beat you. However, if you play aggressive elves, i can see him being good since that would just love to keep filling it's hand, his -3 though becomes mostly bad then.
Right. Garruk 4.0 fits no existing decks, tron could have used him, but alas, green creature clause. Itd have to be a new deck that needed his abilities.

Bodes well for Thoughtsieze.
My thoughts exactly.

On topic, Scavenging ooze is awesome, and I think Angelic Accord might be useful in Wx Life.
Also, Slivers will be a deck, mark my words, and get ready for the Hive, people.
