Let's make this card amazing. What midrange tribe wants to be blown right open in Modern? Troll? Ooze? Beast? Knight? Come on...show me how much better you are at making cards rock than I am...I dare ya.
It would probably be best in Elves since they're the only relevant tribe in Green I can think of. That said, it might be too slow for the combo variant.

Naw, see the problem is that Elves have plenty of gas already with mana dorks and cheap casting costs. This card would be an enabler for a less enabled tribe, and it really does not have to be a green tribe...that is just the most obvious color.
Some facts of magic:
-Terror is an emotion which, when experienced, results in death.
-The pox was a disease notorious for having killed one-third, rounded up, of Europe’s population. Smallpox, on the other hand, killed only a single person.
-A person riding a horse cannot be stopped by foot soldiers, large animals, walls, archers, or even catapults.

I've thought about trying it with treefolk. Treefolk Harbinger can grab woodfall primus to cheat in without having to dedicate your deck to fat creatures you can't cast.
The biggest issue I see with descendant's path combo is that it has no redundancy since there is any other effect similar to it that's playable, so it needs to be used *mostly* in the more fair sense.

Good point, though that could be diminished a bit with Idyllic Tutor.
Not bad for 5 minutes, eh? I fully intend to hardcast summoning trap every time.

Path is interesting but ultimately not great because it has such a high chance of whiffing unless you spend a lot of resources stacking your deck. I like Call to the Kindred better. Both Path and call both lose to removal. They're both basically 2-for-1s because Path does nothing without a creature on the table.
Either way, my favorite shell for these guys is actually tribal Elemental. Why? Because you have amazing Elementals at all points on the curve and a legitimate finisher in the form of Liege of the Tangle. Here's an example of one the Elemental decks I toy with:
It's still casual-only, but it has potential. The deck starts with some early aggro presence, and tries to be on top of the opponent with heavy hitters like Rumbling Slum. Mindgame, you're looking to resolve Soulstroke or Call. These cards help you either deploy your army faster or cheat Liege into play. With a Soulstroke, resolving a Liege is virtually game over; it's trample means it will connect, and once it does, your opponent has to have a Wrath effect immediately or else they die to the army of 8/8s you have ready for next turn.
This shows why Call is better than Path. With Call, they must answer immediately or else you are digging deep and tossing out a huge monster or an answer. With Path, more than half the time it won't do anything.
I've got a friend who used to run it in his Treefolk Deck but it was later cut as Leaf-Crowned Elder was always preferred and regularly enough. He gets consistent hits via Cream of the Crop.
5 year necro, remember to look at the post dates before posting in threads. I'm locking it, but if the discussion really wants to continue then feel free to start the thread over.

Yeah ok it's janky, I'm just spitballing here.

Needs Quicksilver Amulet.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
omg, so much this, dont forget mutavault in that pile either
Which then becomes an extremely slow and clunky combo.
