has anyone read their text coverage? how much worse is it compared to video coverage? does the text coverage take breaks in between rounds? I guess you can also follow #gpdetroit to get live information

Text coverage always lags behind the video coverage (obviously), but from my experience it lags sometimes by several rounds. I assume that #gpdetroit will give you up to date information but sometimes it gets gummed up with people at he GP tweeting about 0-2 dropping, complaining about the venue, talking about meeting various pros, pros talking about how they're doing, etc etc. Wizards will likely let you know when they've updated text coverage, as well as who is doing well and what feature matches they have.
As a shameless plug, I'll be there and tweeting about my exploits so you can follow me at @tholness

Yes, lack of video coverage sucks. IMHO, all GPs should have live video. WotC seems to be okay with outsourcing the coverage (See GP Miami), so they can allow others to do coverage if they wish, but every single one should have video coverage.
That being said, can we talk a little more about metagame and attendance?
1) What do we think the metagame will look like? Top five decks on MTGGoldfish are Affinity, RG Tron, Jund, Melira Pod, and UWR control. From personal experience, I've played a TON of Tron and Jund/Rock decks online, followed by UWR and UR Delver. Almost no Storm, Pod, or Affinity
2) Any ideas on what attendance will be? Over 1000? What pros will be there? I know Cedric Phillips, Patrick Chapin, and Adrian Sullivan are going to be there, but have we heard of anyone else going?

Anyone going to detroit that has some cards I can borrow? I have the foil versions, but for the sake of not dealing with "marked cards deck check" I would like their regular versions.
Shoot me a message? Wurmcoils and Spellskites
edit: I hear the estimate for attendance is between 1000-1200
Any chance for a surprise appearance from that amulet of vigor deck? Seems pretty busted it wins on turn 2/3 a good portion of the time i believe? It is pretty susceptible to path though.

I asked Reid Duke on MTGO if he plans on being there, he said yes. Also asked LSV if he was going, and said he wasn't sure. This was three weeks ago or so. Both were playing in Modern queues on MTGO tonight, so it stands to reason they were testing for something. Maybe LSV decided he should head up here.

Not sure who they were but I saw some CF tshirts at the airport tonight (I work at metro detroit airport). So I imagine a large number of folks

You are the gentleman who informed us the people mover was down in the Facebook group! Maybe we'll be seated across the table from one another this weekend.

I know a lot of canadians are going ~100 (including myself).
I think the coverage thing has more to do with TOs then wizards per se.
Oakland/Miami etc.. are run by TOs who wanted to make sure there was coverage and went out of the way to provide it.

A few people will play it, but it won't do well. It's not the most consistent deck and on top of that with so few people playing it there isn't the density of player base to overcome just sometimes bad luck.
For people curious of attendance the TO (PES) has set for 1400 and expect at least 1100 to be for the modern constructed. I asked them when I registered today.

It's your job win every game of Magic where you're not.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
No livestream a la the one they had for the World Championship?
Correct.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
They really need to overhaul their whole live coverage approach, ala that SCG series a few months ago.

I'm not keen on his take on the build, the critters all ask to be Pyroclasm'd or hit with EE set to 1... but hey, Boros.
