Is there any way we as a community can rally together to ask for more modern GPs and make sure there is proper coverage? Maybe a petition on change.org or something?
From reading the twitter feed of #gpdetroit I think a petition is not going to be needed. There is a lot of anger being directed at WotC and some have already suggested more coverage for constructed GPs and less coverage for limited GPs (particularly if the TO is not able to pay for the streaming).
Also there are some high profile pros who have complained about the lack of coverage ala Kibler doing rogue video deck techs. Plus, teams that go to these events get to push their brand if they are on stream, so it does impact future attendance of non-streamed GPs.
Please don't be drinking game material this time...
Edit:
RESTORE BALANCE?
SERIOUSLY?
WHO COULD POSSIBLY WANT TO PLAY THAT?
Edit2:
Ok so here we go, round 3 results aaaaaaaaaaaaand Pat Sullivan chokes 1-2.
This is not THE LAW at all.
Edit3:
Redless Jund.
Everybody take a drink!
Restore Balance deck is as real a deck as Living End. What it lacks in consistency it makes up in the overall power of the cascade card, which destroys control, midrange, and aggro alike.
It only has a few bad match ups, combo (Splinter Twin, Storm) and UR Tempo.
I can confirm Duke is on Jund with Chandra, Pyromaster. He beat me in the finals of an 8-man with it two days ago, presumably testing, as Huey was in the 8-man too. It was sweeeet.
Craig Wescoe who is supposed running a similar (same?) list is 5-0. Not sure how that works.
Source on the implications that he's running Boros?
nvm, lolMothership.
Addendum:
Maybe he didn't play fragile beats like Sully did?
Biggest issue I leveled in the Boros thread against his list is too much Electrolyze/'Clasm bait. One Drop Boros is fragile Boros.

Time to figure out why they'd be playing Chandra 4.0. Tons of X/1's in the meta? Tons of games that drag on really long? Tons of X/4's in the meta and have lots of Bolts maindeck? Think you can consistently out-tempo your opponent? (I found that Chandra 4.0 helped in those areas in my testing by pinging guys, drawing a card a turn, and stunning blockers.)
Also, would Duke and friends be splashing white for Lingering Souls or not? I found that Chandra 4.0 really appreciated the help from flying guys in a sorcery can. I kept getting her run over by Celestial Colonnade otherwise.
Lucas is on GB Rock with Lingering Souls (SnapCast tech 8D). Dunno what Matthew is playing.
Also I've been advocating Chandra in Jund for like a month now and I'm so happy to see she's finally begun showing up. The biggest strength she has is faltering things that people typically try to counter Jund with, such as Kitchen Finks and Batterskull, as well as safely removing things you want not blocking but don't want to kill because of, say, a dies trigger (Voice of Resurgence). She's also more Dark Confidants, which is nice.
And now for a special PSA on Blood Moon and why it's totally a thing... that'll probably be ruined by Wizards' love of punting their own coverage articles.trolling judges with cardboard is fun!

Wonder how long Mill will be a thing, though. Seems Emmy's no problem, but that's just one hurdle...

Do you know which deck he's piloting?
Sam Black actually opted to show up. He's x-0, predictably.
Thanks to Gabgabdevo for the awesome sig image!
I'm always looking for foil Madcap Skills and Ghitu Fire-Eater, [trade thread link forthcoming]

Lesson here is likely "do not run weenie Boros in a format where Pyroclasm exists."

Well, you see, it's all about the layers.
Or is it timestamp order.
...APNAP?
Just raise your hand, call for a judge, and tell them you're about to play Blood Moon. They'll figure it out... I hope...

Man, the lack of vid coverage is a bummer ain't it?

(Round 5)
Cuz most players suck at playing melira pod and Cuneo and Pardee aren't there.
There was going to be a ton of pod hate since it won the last 2 modern GPs and got 1st/2nd in the Modern MOCS.
So the lack of melira pod is not surprising.
I enjoyed this one.
On judging: MJ had a Spreading Seas cast on one of his Tron lands and the judges ruled that it didn't effect the Urzatron mana-check. Is that correct?
