Needing green to start seems a bit rough unless you have Manamorphose. Also, being a creature is a big downside. That said, I'm sure people will try it out - more along the lines you initially brought up, as a sort of a ramp spell, rather than part of a storm deck. This honestly reminds me more of Lotus Cobra in it's potential purpose than Seething Song.
I find the printing of this funny after they slamdunked all the real rituals on the Modern banlist. But yeah, this is probably too slow, too Boltable and too awkward. You're investing 3 manas to get 3 manas at the end, it's just a different colour. Burning-Tree Emissary is probably better in that department, although she doesn't ramp.
If you just want to cast overpowered cards on turn 3, there's a deck called Tron already.
Tron doesn't swing for two or cast colored spells, though. Just sayin'
The point is if there is things to ramp into that is worth this huge tempo loss, you will not want to lose turn 2, turn 3 and a creature to play something that will eat a path without doing nothing...
If there is, then this might see some play.
This is in the duel deck, are we sure its going to be in Theros?
I'm sorry? There are two kinds of cards printed in duel decks nowadays, original cards that are a look at the block to come and reprints. Since this is clearly not a reprint it can only be one thing.
I am kinda surprised to find cards like this in Theros. I always associated with mono-colored cards that benefited or benefitted from another color always struck me as being in sets with a minor multicolor theme, and my take away from reading MaRos blog and the comments from SDCC led me to believe that this set (and block) would be a much more mono-color affair. Not that I thought it was a "mono-color mattered" set, but that it would not be explicitly multi-color either. To be fair this is one card, and I could have made assumptions about what I read that were not meant to be communicated, but that was my impression.
It's been said that Theros will be less multi-colored than Ravnica, but being less multi-colored than THE multi-color block isn't saying a lot. MaRo has also said a few times that they want one block to flow into the next. Having a heavy mono-color block follow Ravnica is something he's explicitly stated won't happen.

Like I said, I may have just interpreted the statements incorrectly.

Well since things like "heavy" and "less" are not quantified adjectives, it all depends on what you mean. Also, again, this is only one card and you cannot judge a pattern on one result. I was simply being frank about my surprise.
So looks like we have legendary enchantment artifacts. Probably a cycle. They have a global effect like a enchantment, but tap effects like artifacts (This used to be the distinction between the two before the line got blurred)
Im interested to where they go with this. This set seems like it's gonna be a more experimental set...the flavour possibilities are endless which is great so hopefully the mechanics line up in greatness.

If you're gonna come at the King, you'd best not miss.
Satyr is not good in storm, if you cast him when going off you both need green mana and all he does is read:
1GR: Add RRR to your mana pool
Otherwise he is mediocre compared to other options you have to accelerate your mana when you try to go off
The Scenario you mentioned would work as following
Cast Satyr, 2 mana left in pool
Cast ritual, 3 mana in pool
Sac satyr, 5 mana in pool
where as if you just cast the ritual you go from 4->5 mana, the end result is the same
He may work in an AIR strategy or Goblin Storm deck, in goblin storm being a "free" creature means he can net 2 more goblins when going off, the problem with him in AIR is that he is Green and it makes it more difficult to run Blood Moon effects in 2 colors than it is in 1

Great, Enchantment Artifacts!
What could they possibly think of next, Enchantment Lands?
Lucent Liminid's almost guaranteed at this rate, not that it means anything for this format.

Thassa seems like a consistent engine for delver decks in modern. You make Geist of Saint Traft unblockable in WUR and Tarmogoyf in RUG as well as dig through the deck with the scry 1 ability and set up delver flips...and then becomes a 5/5 later on if you force 5 blue (I dont think its really going to happen often, but who knows)

Thassa, God of the Sea looks to be interesting. I like the card a lot. Just not sure where it will be played since the only ones it could go in right now are Faeries and Merfolk.

What do you guys think? Turn 2 Hedonist, turn 3 play a land, crack him for 3 mana, power out Deus of Calamity/Demigod of Revenge
Could this be the AIR replacement for Seething Song?
Tron doesn't swing for two or cast colored spells, though. Just sayin'
Since none of us have ever seen the card before (i.e. it's not a reprint), yes, it will be in Theros.
No, Priest gives you 3 mana the turn you play it. You cant really ramp with it.
With Satyr, you can play it turn 2, and then wait until turn 3 to crack it and net 5 mana for turn 3.
Very different
If there is, then this might see some play.

Reprint Opt for Modern!!
FREE DIG THOROUGH TIME!
PLAY MORE ROUGE DECKS!
Not really.
You can crack it to discharge some surplus mana the next turn, but much like Priest, what you pay is what you get...
...in red mana.

I wouldn't try figuring out the Future Sight reprint card yet--I've seen convincing arguments in favour of Imperial Mask (enchantment tokens).
Thassa is an enchantment creature, a fairly new card type that we havent seen before. can these cards see competetive play?
To the mods: please close out if not yet time to discuss THS. thanks!
