Hahaha told yea I want to have a 4 mana do nothing that maybe gets me value if I connect with any of the 4 creatures in my control deck. OR i could just play a planes walker or Tidings or something.
I allll most like the God, if only her activated ability was defensive... Extremely interesting card though.
Seems reasonable, especially considering Time of Need was not all that powerful in Kamigawa Standard. I realize that ToN only grabs creatures, but considering that is what 99% of Legendaries are, and it is a much easier mana cost with no downside...well DR seems like the kind of card that would be printed. Doubt it will be that great.
I think the fact that it's instant speed is what makes it so great. Opponents EOT is better than wasting mana during your turn.
Thassa herself is definitely playable in modern, especially when she can be flashed in off an Aether Vial
Merfolk is going to get some serious love in Theros
I wouldn't include it.
1. It doesn't synergize with our creatures
2. It doesn't have evade
3. Path to Exile is an extremely popular form of removal
4. We have many ways of making our creatures unblockable.
It's winmore in a semi-hyper aggro deck. I think it distracts from the main plan.

Really I say this every block. They should listen (Echoing R&D member: "But we gave you young pyromancer last core set!" Me: "Silence, I will not accept anything without haste in red.")
Where was I? Right. I hope they keep the gods CMC low. But I'm majorly supprised by the "spoiled" card. I assumed theyd keep the gods a commander card and make them cost more. Maybe they want to push them into contructed? I wouldnt mind.
Whoa whoa whoa. We just got huge modern news. Apperently a semi reliable source (still up in the air) is claiming theres a 1 cmc swords to plowshares enchantment (Ganna guess journey to nowhere, for 1 cmc with the swords "downside")
As well as thoughtseize being printed in the BLOCK (maybe not set.) While not a reprint, this is good for people who dont have it.
Lastly he said there was going to be a nimbus maze cycle of lands.
So that opens up a bunch of new things. Better mana fixing, less having to focus on shocks. More access to the BG shell, and control gets a bump with the swords enchantment. I'm down with more 1 cmc removal... though black is still lacking.

So abrupt decay gets even better? Damn that card is just insane. Thoughtseize reprint makes sense, its price is out of control at this point.

I realize that I may have interpreted MaRo statements about multi-color in Theros wrong, but I am almost certain he specifically said that the dual cycle was not going to be very that good at supporting multi-color strategies.
I am leery of any source that is giving out information about "the block", as that really limits the amount of people it could be leaking things. Art is probably not even at the print-shop for the second set, so that means it is someone internal who is seriously risking their job.
Why cant the card just be a reprint of soul snare which is a card from teh commander decks that i think is very safe for standard and modern.
because deathrite shaman and dark confidant aren't famous for attacking me when they know i can do something about it. Seal ofPlowshares would suit me just fine.
yes seal of sword to plowshares would be amazing. I just dont see wizards printing something like that without a real draw back or a clause such as attacking or blocking creature.

I can see it as a Swords to Plowshares version of Journey to Nowhere for 1 white.

The funny thing is that I suspect "Seals to Plowshares" would be one of the best white removal spells in Modern no matter if it turns out to emulate Journey to Nowhere (like TK-421, the Rumor Mill moderator, thinks it is) or Seal of Cleansing (like Trollcreature, the original Medomai TimeWalker source, thinks it is)
Looks like the 1 cmc isnt as simple as we thought. Might be an enchant creature.
If this wording is close to accurate, it's bizarre, but balanced. Maybe too balanced. Requiring you to control a creature in the first place is a big drawback, requiring that creature to stay on the battlefield is an even bigger drawback.
I realize that I may have interpreted MaRo statements about multi-color in Theros wrong, but I am almost certain he specifically said that the dual cycle was not going to be very that good at supporting multi-color strategies.
Did Mark Rosewater say anything about that? I thought the relevant quote was from Sam Stoddard, where he said that the new cycle of dual lands would not be as good at supporting 3-color decks.
"While we have no intention of going back to an era where players are unable to cast their spells, we are leaving an era of Standard where mana fixing was overly abundant, and most importantly incredibly easy. The opportunity cost was almost zero, but that was done intentionally to support the Return to Ravnica block. There was so little downside in the speed or consistency in your deck in moving from a two- to a three-color deck for the last year, and that will change when Standard rotates in the fall. Again, I believe the lands we have in place for Theros block are wonderful, but they do not offer the same level of ease and power with three-color mana bases as the shockland/M10-dual-land combination."
Emphasis mine. A Nimbus Maze cycle would fit with that... though on the other hand, you'd have to reprint fetchlands to have better synergy with the shocklands, so practically any dual land cycle other than the fetchlands would accomplish the stated goal.

Calling it "Seals to Plowshares" may be a stretch when it may not even make anyone gain life.
TK-421 the mod suspects it's Enchant Land, which would be appropriate for Andromeda flavour (instead of Prometheus flavour like I've seen another poster suspect). If it comes with that drawback, it gets significantly worse late-game unless you control basic lands (and even if you do, guess which land gets Ghost Quartered).

If it's Enchant Creature, ugh...
Given the flavor, I strongly suspect that it's an enchanted land. That wouldn't be so bad in Modern, both for decks that use it and for the format as a whole - It might even encourage more players to bring Ghost Quarter and/or Tec Edge to the table.
Medomai is interesting. Need to see the final rules text to see if s/he is any better than the unplayable Wanderwine Prophets, but my guess is that it won't be very strong. Giving the Sphinx double strike, or having extra combat phases, also seems like a cute way of using the effect.
Yeah, I doubt the time walk will be anything big. I mean Timewalk folk seems easier to pull off and doesnt see play.
I think enchant land is better then creature. Opens up to way more decks. Id use it in Zoo (if no gain life clause), and you know control would use it.
Speaking of control, Id love to see enchantress become a deck. Not boggles, mind you, actual entantress of some sort.
If it really is a 1-mana journey to nowhere, it will certainly compete with Path to Exile in modern for removal options.
On one hand, Path is an instant. On the other hand, it does ramp them.
It won't compete against Path to Exile for the exact reason that it's not an instant. Path also doesn't ramp the opponent until the next turn, and also, because there aren't that many basic lands in Modern, the ramp isn't always effective.
Path also has a few "cute" interaction, that is, when you need a basic land next turn, or when you have Leonin Arbiter in play, that makes its clause even better. Also happens to work with Mindbreak Trap.

In modern I feel like (just my personal opinion) it would be too... "pricey" might be the word im looking for. It would need the right shell, I don't think it could just be thrown in - the same reason people don't play temporal mastery.
Thassa God of the Sea could be a viable finisher for blue. It's not JTMS but it has everything that you want in a finisher for blue:
1) Low casting cost
2) Resilience from Indestructible
3) Early Game relevance and utility
4) Finishing Power*
Now I will absolutely concede that a 5/5 non flyer isnt always enough to put the game away, but consider that this would be used in a blue control shell that could keep the board mostly clear. The same type of deck could run Jace 1, 3 or 4 with counterspells and snapcasters.
Even though it's non-flyer, Thassa, God of the Sea can make herself unblockable for two mana, so if you find a consistent way to turn it online, it would make a more than decent finisher IMO. The scry is great, and the indestructibility, I suspect, is just sweet anti-Abrupt Decay tech (which could make it quite playable)
Bow of Nylea looks pretty darn interesting. It does a ton of different things, and I don't know why but I want to pair it with cards like coiling oracle... Of course it also works very well with persist creatures, but I suspect it'll end up being too slow for modern.

Still, control may want to exile their dude on the draw without letting them have 3 lands on their next turn.
