I'm pretty sure everyone saying these should have money mythics and/or 2+ fetches needs to reevaluate themselves, along with the Pod/TRON/Twin hopefuls.
For $75, it won't be anything high-powered. I expect BW Tokens.
In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.
What you are totally glossing over is Wotc needs the LGS's on their side. Pissing off the LGS's by low balling a card they are selling for $100+ would be a bad business move on Wotc's part.
Wotc may say they pay no attention to the secondary market, but they have to to keep the game going.
Why does WotC need the LGS's on their side? The small market LGS isn't so profitable a business they can just stop stocking magic entirely.

Really? Wotc needs the LGS more then the LGS need Wotc. Without the LGS the players have no place to play, meaning no need to buy packs and cards. Hence a direct hit to the bottom line for Wotc.
Players still have the casual with friends, big tournaments, MTGO and on top of all that other LGS. Remember that WotC is a huge multinational company and these LGS are often small mom and pop operations. Refusing to tract with WotC can cost them tens of thousands of dollars which they cannot sustain in the short term, Wizards can.

Really? The LGS depends entirely on Wotc, without them they have no products to sell, when you aren't selling your go out a business.

I dont know one LGS that is solely MTG. Every LGS I have ever been in has had other things to sell. Matter of fact MTG isnt the most sold things in some LGS.

..and some players dont play MTGO or have a casual play group. Waiting weeks for that big tournament to come around or you need to travel to isnt good for the player base to be waiting for.
I have the ability to play 7 days a week. Take that away and I am not sure I would spend as much time or money on the game.
Wotc can not survive without those small mom and pop shops you talk of. Unless you expect Wotc to start pushing product through the big box stores. Which would be just great to get singles from.
Pissed or not the LGS will buy plenty of products with sealed Goyfs in there. But no I do not think we will be getting a goyf. I think we will be getting a fancy aggro burn deck, possibly Boros colors. The best you can hope for is a fetch land. The rest will be an assortment of playable cards but no atom bombs like Goyf or Liliana.
I have to agree with this from the price tag they've put on there.
Burn is closest to that price tag, but I don't think it will be burn. I'm thinking maybe an affinity list since that gives them an opportunity to put some more mox opals into circulation which is a much needed card. That would rule out fetch lands, but mox opals are pretty pricey, too.
Who knows, though. At that price, the only thing reasonable would be burn, but I doubt they will do that since there's way more interesting things in modern than burn. That said, I'm sure $75 dollars will be laughable to the amount it actually ends up being worth, just like the rest of these kinds of sets/decks.
In terms of the MRSP, we gotta remember that the FTV series sell at 34.99 MRSP, which is a price you'll never find ANYWHERE. considering that fact, combined with the modern event deck's MRSP at 74.99, it's really hard for the actual product not to sell for at least 150. thus it could definitely include some of the chase rares, even mythics.
B/W tokens with 1 fetch, 1-3 other money rares (an auriok champion is very likely, that card needs a lower price), some cheaper rares like windbrisk heights and honor of the pure, and some money uncommons like inquisition and path would do a good job of increasing the supply of cards, but still sell at MSRP or close to it to get into the hands of players who want to get into modern.
I'm still hopeful for Twin only because I'd really like to see them aggressively price something to put cards into the players' hands. They missed the mark quite a bit with Modern Masters considering I now have to buy Goyfs at a much higher price, and I still don't have any. Cut all the fetches, only one Kiki, and a bunch of jank spells rather than Cliques or Snaps and even Mana Leaks over Remands. It could definitely be done. I'd just like to see them support this by printing a playable deck that's good in the format. But we know Wizards, combo is awful and we hate it and it should die, so obviously we're not printing that.
But I think BW Tokens is honestly the most realistic thing. They can give you a very respectable list with it, and a lot of cards have been printed lately. Path, Thoughtseize, Godless Shrine, Hero of Bladehold, Lingering Souls, Honour of the Pure, they've all been printed in the last couple of years so nobody has really anything to complain about.
Don't forget, Wizards MSRP != secondary market. If they did release product with Goyf, they're not going to add $150 to the price to compensate. Their price should be quite cheaper than market so they address the issue of giving players cards.

Outside of the fetches, All-In twin is not expensive. With Clique and Cryptic being in MM, I don't think we will see the tempo version here.
Additionally, I don't see them releasing a combo deck as the event deck.
I am going to say twin (in any form) is out. However, I have been wrong before. We will see.

I can see how this turns out. The deck has two Deathrite Shaman. Shortly after its release DRS gets banned. But, oh, you can play it in Modern if you use the exact decklist from the event deck.
I agree there's no way this is a combo deck. Definitely a creature deck. It could be Birthing Pod, but most likely not one of the popular versions, like Jund Pod without a combo kill, just value cards. Although I think Pod is the most likely because it's fun and could do okay with a lot of common/uncommons, I also think UR Delver is a possibility. Another possibility is that it is a deck to follow an unban like Naya Zoo with Nacatl. Whatever it is, it probably won't be a current tier 1 strategy, maybe a variation, but not something like GR Tron.
I think the deck will have to have at least one Modern chase rare in it. That means fetch land, Tarmogoyf, Confidant, Clique, or something similar. I think Wizards knows this is the expectation, and will deliver. Of those, I think fetch land is most likely. I doubt it will be Goyf because it's a flagship card for the format that they will want to keep valuable. I think they understand that Fetch lands need to be reprinted, and by just reprinting 1 or 2, it seems like a compromise for stores and collectors.
tl;dr
predictions:
1) creature based deck
2) most likely Jund pod
3) will have 2 fetch lands (Verdant Catacomb, Misty Rainforest)
4) no goyf
i just hope they keep releasing this event deck thing each year, or even 2 decks a year and include modern staples in them so that all current secondary market prices factor in a discount for possible future reprints. it would mean more than just simply flooding the market for specific cards. drop that goyf below 100, it's hurting the player base. I wouldnt care a card i own drops in price (i.e. fetches, liliOTV) as long as all other cards drop in similar fashion. that just means i can gain access to more decks and i can get more friends playing the decks they want.
They did say if they felt like Modern Masters didn't accomplish what they set out for it to do that they'd look for other ways of releasing staples into the format, I feel that this is one of those experiments (not because Modern Masters was a failure, but because MMa didn't have the desired effect of the staple cards in the format - à la: Goyf, Bob, Clique - and caused a huge boom on the cards that weren't reprinted - Fetches, par example). With that being said, it seems to me that we may see a few event decks getting released alongside Modern Masters 2 as like a two pronged maneuver to combat this issue. At least, I am hopeful for such.
that's exactly what i was hoping for too. a general decrease in price
If they only print one deck with double sided tokens, I agree with the extended opinion that the most likely deck to be printed is WB Tokens (Soldiers and Spirits). The deck is cheap, easy to play and they could even include a Marsh Flats to draw the attention from more competitive players.
Another cheap deck that could use tokens would be Monoblue Tron with Treasure Mage fetching Wurmcoil Engine... and Triskelavus!

Um why would UW tokens be more likely than a generic RW aggro burn deck with goblin tokens?
What are the odds of either Grove of the Burnwillows or Horizon Canopy?

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
What are the odds of either Grove of the Burnwillows or Horizon Canopy?
More likely horizon canopy. A lot of people wanted that and didn't get it in both theros and MMA. Plus grove was also in FTV: realms. As for odds? Who knows. I'd say both stand a good chance, but there's a lot of possibilities.

I would say with the price tag @ $75 it would be slim. Doesnt leave a whole lot of room for other money staples.
