And people, can you not have these gigantic quote trees? It's rather irritating to have to scroll through so much text just to see the one-sentence post you added to it.
The new forum is awful in this regard. I tend to edit them down to what I'm actually responding to, but I don't know that anyone prefers this new system to the old one.

As for the GP, it was fun to watch, but I'm always a little sad when they don't show the first two rounds. I'm guessing they can't be sure who they'll get since most the good players have 2-3 byes. So they don't want lots of rules errors, plus the pressure of being on camera.
But I figure the first two rounds are great to showcase decks like 8-rack or Hatebears. Show people that modern isn't just Twin/Pod.

That's something SCG has worked pretty hard to do over the last year. Even in Standard where the bulk of the field is B/x and U/W/x at the moment, SCG tries to vary their coverage, at least in the early rounds. They do an even better job of that in the Legacy portion, where there's a broader variety of decks.
I'll admit to not watching the entirety of Wizard's coverage this past weekend, but when I did tune in, I don't think I saw any matches that didn't involve a Birthing Pod or a Snapcaster Mage. Most involved both.

That's probably because all the top decks are playing one or the other. Let's face it, some sort of URx Combo/Control or Pod is the best deck right now, at least from results.

Absolutely. I've spent more than my fair share of time decrying the lack of legitimate, top-tier options within the Modern meta, so I won't bother rehashing it here.

What did you guys think was going to happen? You basically just traded one tyrant for another.
You can ban or unban whatever you want, but it will not create the same diversity as better, playable cards and decent reprints. For better or for worse, Return to Ravnica had a bigger impact on Modern than the BNG ban/unbans.
I actually like the format right now, we appear to be going through meta cycles like legacy. There is a gauntlet of decks with smart meta reads and knowledge of the whole format rewarding players more than playing the best deck.

Because Jund definitely didn't make it to the finals.

I dont know if thats fair. We got rid of a 25% deck and now we have a handful of 10% decks. I prefer the meta we have now to when Jund dominating, and at the time I didnt mind the Jund domination. I like the fact there are 5-8 decks that all have a shot any given weekend.

BGx was not a 25% deck when DRS was banned. It was a 15% deck.

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
