Ok, I'm not sure if where exactly I should post this but it's fairly price related. So I'm just going to be safe and post it here. This totally feels like a first world problem but I have a fairly substantial Modern collection since I got into the format right once it launched and had been saving my Standard cards since I started playing in Zendikar. So I have playsets of all the rare lands from Zen to now and a ton of staple cards. So I'm free to brew and test many decks that fancy me. Granted it's usually moderately janky and out of the box stuff but the problem I keep running into is that since I have expensive cards and fringe ideas, there are very few people on the same level as me to discuss deck ideas with. Which I guess isn't the end of the world despite feeling rather lonely when it comes to brewing. However, on that same note, when I go to help people with their brews I can clearly tell that they are working within the bounds of a fairly tight budget. So my ideas and suggestions of what would be ideal for them is preemptively dismissed because of cost limitations. I'm just upset that I can't help others because of price limitations as well as upset that I can't expect feedback that hasn't been filtered through budgeted eyes. Like, I still see Mox Opal as a $20 card, Fetches as $15 cards because that's what they were when I picked them up.
I don't think there is really a solution to this or anything. I just hate having to see other people limit themselves as well as how that affects their interaction with me. I try to loan out expensive cards whenever I can to help mitigate this but there is only so much I can do. Sorry, just needed to rant a little bit.
Hey what do you guys think of realmwright? This card is insane, it goes right past blood moon and nonbasic hate. This card also goes way further than modern. Why is this card only 0.20??
Value is good. But Dredgevine isn't supposed to be about value. It's supposed to be about V-8; 2000 pounds of nitro boosted war vegetables. The more velocity, the better.

Because it's better to run cards that are not as narrow and are more versatile (e.g. Abrupt Decay, Wear // Tear, etc.).

I don't think that is totally off topic, and it is similar to what a few of us have already said. I too can make any modern deck (that doesn't play Goyf), so prices of fetches and such are not a burden to my wallet, but they are limiting the number of people I see at local events and that bothers me. I want opponents who have not been forced to build with a different pool than I have.

FYI, I was not sure about this interaction due to another that was similar so I asked about it and found that it was slightly different (HERE). So it does sort of work, but you cannot use it preemptively due to timestamp factors. It still seems too fragile to me.
Are the eggs cards (Lotus Bloom, Reshape, Faith's Reward, Krark-Clan Ironworks, Open the Vaults) going to spike after Conley Woods's back up feature match with it?
No. If they do it wont be more than a dollar or two. The deck would have to win a large amount of the event for anyone to care.
Do you remember what happened with Fist of Suns? It started going up after the feature match. It quadrupled in price before they even announced that Todd has gone 9-0.
The deck isn't that good. It just got some screen time against a deck that couldn't answer it. Even IF they spike, it doesn't matter. Not like people are going to start playing the deck.

How do you know that the deck isn't good? The main reason why it hasn't gotten results is that most of our information on the format comes from MTGO and Eggs doesn't work well there.
The deck is good. Its just really open to be hurt by lots of hate that exists in the format. So it could be good this weekend and the cards spike but then the price would fall.

the deck has been around for a LONG time. Don't you remember seeing TWoo's article and brew on it? Ive seen brews for the deck since I started magic and its never once been a real archetype.

I personally have thought that it is good for a while.
Its a meta deck. No one was expecting it this weekend and its doing good because of that. Its a fringe deck. It wont ever be a real archetype or win a large event like a GP.

If no one is expecting it this weekend and it is good for this meta, is it possible that it will do well this weekend?
Its obviously doing well since its currently like 5-0 or something like that, but it wont win the event. Not to mention the deck is VERY easy to hate out with most decks.

What's the likelihood Fulminator Mage can be reprinted in MM2 or in a Standard environment? I was thinking of picking up a playset but $40 each is quite expensive especially since they were only $10 last year.
Fulminator will probably be reprinted but not for awhile. If it is reprinted it will most likely be in a Modern product, not standard. If you need them, GET THEM NOW.
Foil Torpor Orb, KEEP IT. Its one of the best sideboard cards in the format. Its price will online rise.

Standard is low, for two reasons. First, they probably won't revisit hybrid mana for a while after RTR. Second, Wizards of the Coast has really been nerfing land destruction, so them printing Fulminator Mage seems unlikely (though it is nonbasic land, so they might be more willing to do it).
I have no idea about supplementary products, though.
I thin the soonest we will see a reprint of Fulminator Mage is whenever they do MM2, and if they print it at rare I think it has a good chance of comming down quite a bit for a while. It is not really a key part of any deck, just a solid SB card and maybe a 2 of in some MDs, so the only thing really making it expenisve is scarcity and rare in MM2 should be enough to bring that down. That said, the soonest we would see that is summer 2015, so if you really want to play it then you have little choice. It is WAY over priced at $40 IMO.

It's also possible that it could show up in Conspiracy, though I think MM2 is a bit more likely....
The best use of fulminator right now is for trading. Fulminator in many cases can be replaced with rain o.f tears. Moved a set last week for legacy staples. Has anyone ever won a game with fulminator beat down?
Fulminator is useful in two ways. One he can beat and two he can act like a sword of Damocles, not fired off right away but waiting for the right moment. The bonus of this is that you can put the mana down when you have it, then wait till you need to to use the "spell".

Conspiracy will have a lot of reprints, although i think that they would be functional reprints for a multiplayer draft environment, there is in your opinion room for some modern staple reprint?
