Thats very possible, and would explain why it took so long for the cards to make it to single's sellers.
yeah the JPN alt art walkers are only showing up in JPN boosters/boxes and the soon-to-be promo packs replacing FNM and other misc promos when core 2020 rolls out. NA stores can directly order WAR japanese booster boxes, which is not usually offered. the time delay on fulfilling those orders means the perceived scarcity is driving up the prices on the alt-art walkers. there is also the fact that opening japanese boxes for them leaves you with a bunch of foreign cards that generally have lower value to native english users.
That being said...Last reprint was as a masterpiece and it's a lot of reprint equity. I can't see it popping up until next year really and it'll be in a supplemental set like MH1 more than likely (conspiracy, or whatever). Depends if you need it to compete, if so I'd pull the trigger.
MH1 may have some impact on it but probably not much. If anything it'll slow growth, not make it retract much given what the card does and how good it is.
chalice was reprinted in masters 25
Oops yeh, I forget about masters 25. It could be even longer then :(.

Didn't even noticed that Japanese one's were more to the light side, second image left is German and right Japanese. They just fill more "durable", "harder" cardboard.
Oh, I see now. thanks again for the posting pics that show how the japanese cards are different.
Looking to buy Chalice of the Void, is it a good idea to buy at current price?
Well, the price isn't going to go down anytime soon without reprint opportunities on the docket, and it might spike if the London Mulligan gets officially implemented.
It could also drop because it gets easier to deal with. We’re about to get not just one, but two Forces that deal with Chalice on T0, and those also get better with a London Mulligan.
I predict the opposite actually in that prison strategies are about to get a lot weaker.
Glad they printed a land cycle that have horizon canopy ability. Hopefully, it should reduce the price of canopies a little.
Prices of canopy have been falling since the cycle was spoiled and I'd imagine they'll only continue to drop; might plateau a bit in the weeks between end of spoilers and MH release, but once the new horizon lands are actually available and decks currently playing canopy can ditch it to optimize colors, its stock will bottom out. Lands that produce/fetch G/W have typically been the cheapest in their given cycles (Savannah, Windswept Heath,Razorverge Thicket,Temple Garden, etc). Additionally Canopy has now been printed what, three times including the expedition? IMO, anyone who has canopies should dump them ASAP. My Bogles deck runs a playset and will continue to do so as they're on-color, but I still sold my set once the cycle was announced; I don't see a scenario where I wouldn't be able to rebuy them for much less once MH is released.
alhtough I hope the price of these canopy cycle would come down a bit more.. 20-30$ is still expensive.
I think the pre-order prices for horizon lands will stay in that range until release. Guessing when they'll bottom out is tricky as they're brand new, but the fact that they're printed at rare should limit any kind of extreme price gouging once adequate supplies hit the market. IMO prices will likely remain elevated for at least 2-6 weeks following release due to 1) Every modern player who's trying to buy a set to play with ASAP & 2) WotC's method of allocating new sets in a way that satisfies pre-orders, but creates artificial scarcity during the period between release and the second wave of product hitting shelves.
Demand will likely be through the roof initially as I'd imagine most decks will want to a full set and there will be some players looking to buy sets for multiple decks. However, that sort of demand will naturally drive more boxes to be opened and supply should theoretically meet demand at some point in time. Personally, I'll likely pick up the ones I need for current decks once/if I see them below $15/ea. I'd like to have a set of each simply due to the convenience of owning modern real estate for future brews, but I'm going to wait it out and hope there's enough supply to eventually drive them below/around $10-$12.
yeah i wouldnt be surprised to see the horizon lands bottom out at around 15. which is kind of ludicrous for rares in a print to demand set with such mass appeal, but the higher price tag on the product is what it is. they are also kinda 'no-brainer' long(er) term holds, so even people opening them who dont need them right away arent going to be rushing to sell. foils are probably going to be crazy right from the get go without dipping much, if at all.
i do want to pick up some copies to play so ill probably just bite the bullet at anything under 20; rather than waiting around 1.5-2 months to save 15-20 bucks.

Hello friends - unfortunately the time has come to part ways with my (predominantly) modern collection. Have there been any forecasts regarding the overall format price of modern in the wake of Modern Horizons? Previous masters sets typically lowered prices for a period of time before the additional demand caught up and brought them back or increased them. Given there aren't any reprints in this set, will it drive demand and therefore, price?
Any advice concerning the timing of my exit from the modern format is appreciated!

Modern horizons will spike interest in modern, prices will go up
some lands that will be replaced with canopy cycle will go down a bit (mostly the most expensive ones)
best time to sell collection is before next modern masters or some other big modern reprint
modern prices are high, I think next reprint will be before november
though there were no such announces so maybe later
What are people's opinions on these.. ice fang coatl and yawgmoth, would their price increase or decrease weeks after release?
I'm not sure where they are at right now, but realistically they are going to be overhyped and will drop after release. Without snow duals Ice-Fang is mostly a pipedream since you need to run it in a dedicated snow deck to get the baleful strix impression. Yawgmoth is more likely to maintain his value especially short term just because of EDH. There will be some experimenting in modern/legacy with him, but unless someone can really make him work he'll drop to 15 dollars in a month of two.

you only buy from SCG right? i wouldnt pick up ice-fang coatls at SCG prices (4x more than preordering them on card kingdom, and 2x more than tcgplayer) . maybe it sees some play in a snow deck that doesnt exist yet, but even if it does its just that 1 deck. i cant see any demand for the card in other formats.
as for yawgmoth...yeah id wait on that one. im very skeptical about it being able to command a 35 dollar price tag, even at mythic. unless it turns out its craaaazy good in commander or something i dont see it going UP while its in print. less sure on whether it will go down much and when that would happen. IMO its low risk to just wait

What are you thinking for the new UW changeling? The effect is potent enough that I wanna try it in a spirits build.
It seems actually really good, nothing crazy broken but solid. Thinking nabout picking up a playset of that and giver sub $10. Think these will go down?
thanks for the replies. Ok, I guess it's waiting time then. Don't urgently need them anyway, the snake is for a semi-casual modern deck, and yawgmoth I plan to use as sideboard card vs Humans.

if you are getting either or both in the 3-6 dollar range, id say just go ahead and pull the trigger; mostly because you want to play them. i could see either going down a few dollars, bottoming out a few weeks after release if neither is showing up in results. similarly if they do show up in any numbers, moving closer to the 10 dollar point isnt out of the question. so there is some risk from both directions, with the decider being that you get to play with cards you want sooner rather than later.
granted my opinion isnt founded on much. such a high priced print-to-demand product is new territory. atm im just assuming similar behavior to standard sets

Sigh, this set is going to rob me of money. I plan to buy 4x foil Seasoned Pyromancers, 2x Foil Wrenns and 3x Foil Unearth.
I don't usually have to really update foil Jund stuff in most sets, and most aren't mythic rates.
I feel like Wrenn looks SO good and very underestimated. It's 2 mana for a grim lavamancer stapled with CA and an amazing ult.
Yeah, who thought Narset would be the star of the set. No one blinked an eye when she was spoiled. Definitely missed that boat. She's being played in all major formats.

There was lots of talk about her almost immediately at my LGS. But we have a lot of various blue cantrip decks, and many who also play cantrip-heavy Legacy decks, so she seemed like a hit from the getgo. We all saw that it would hose our decks and be great in the mirrors.
I'm just happy she's an uncommon, so she is dirt cheap and widely available.

Hmm, asking since I'm not sure what to do..
Are the jap alternate art walkers a limited thing. Or are they eventually going to flood the market? If they are going to be limited in print, I'm getting one now. But will wait if the print run would be large. Thanks.

yeah, time for the online vendors to reap some profits on singles in those first weeks.
Anyway, I only need one of the BG and one of the UG. Will wait it out since my decks would still work without them.
