I like him, he does a good job of beating. The main problem with him is that he's just a 2 damage clock. I think he'd be good in a deck that could suit him up.
I remember playing this in bad (and not so bad) control decks back when Weatherlight came out. One of those rare mana accelerators that doesn't lose value past turn 6, Mind Stone is one of those cool holdover cards of an earlier era of Magic. Played on turn 2 in a control deck, it keeps mana up for something like Leak/Condescend while still promising value when you no longer need the mana. Is Stone still a viable control card? Or has it lost relevance given the context of control in Modern?
I think the only place that I've seen it played is in Skred Red. Modern just seems to have moved away from hard conrtol and more towards "I have a combo, and I will protect it with countermagic and burn." The ramp it provides isn't super important and therefor I don't think it will see tons of play any time soon. It could always resurface in an Eggs style list, but I don't see that happening for a while since most other cards are better for that sort of thing.
It sees play in Eggs, it's pretty important in getting to 4 mana to cast KCI or more to KCI+Faith's Reward. Then you can sacrifice it for more card drawing later. Too bad Eggs is tier 3 now.
This format needs more Turbo Fog style decks! Adding 1 mana to Fog isn't the greatest, but if it means tacking on Cycling then it's probably going to be worth it in the right deck. What sort of Turbo Fog strategies have people tried? I know there are some Owling Mine players lurking around! Not convinced they would play white but hey, it's the deck style that matters.
I dream of the day Astral Slide could be Modern-legal, so we can play all these sweet cycling value. I mean, think about it - you can cast Angelsong if the board is too crowded, or Astral Slide the attackers away if the board is manageable.
We haven't had any sideboard cards for a while in the RCD, and Hibernation is definitely one that sees less play than others. Rumor is that at least a few pros were looking for this card for sideboards at Worlds, and it has historically been one of the best effects you can bring in against green decks. Who's running this powerful card today? In what sort of metagame would you start including it in your board?
Card is great. I don't even remember the first time i saw it in a list, but i know its been in most sideboards i've constructed since. i think i first used it as an answer in WUR midrange against boggles. it conveniently overlapped with infect, mono-green devotion, pod, and BGx.

I speak in sarcasm because calling people ******* ******** is not allowed.
I love this card. With Junk's creature-base being all green, it has gotten better against BGx. Coupled with Bogles seeing more play and it being a 1-sided Evacuation against Pod, it is honestly my favorite sideboard card. I am playing 2 in my WUR Delver sideboard and 2 in the sideboard of my Esper Midrange deck. I wouldn't go to a tournament with a blue deck without it.
The problem for Angelsong in my opinion is that there are better two mana fogs (like Pollen Lullaby) and it doesn't save you from non-creature damage (like Riot Control) so it's just a bit meh.
EDIT: And I'm just too slow! Changing the card before I can reply

It has a nice one from Urza's Saga with armadillos =). Hibernation
As for the card. I mostly run elves so I'm always a little scared of this card.
For non-sideboarding uses, I wonder if green ETB creatures could be used in conjunction with this. Having a second Elvish Visionary or Siege Rhino trigger could be nice.
I play 2-3 hibernation in my sb of faeries for melira pod and elves mainly, its not so much of a throw its weight around willie-nilly card anymore as you really want to handle siege rhino before casting it (not so much kitchen finks though, because you can race them). Forcing an opponent to recast birthing pod feels really good

Could there ever be a strategy with Painter's Servant and Hibernation (or similar cards) to bounce the entire board? I don't know how it could play out but the option is always there.

I'm pretty sure I said I don't know why you would do this or what would happen after, which pretty much leaves it open to spur ideas and see if anyone can think of something for the obscure interaction. What about LTB triggers, or a low curve so it doesn't matter. there are tons of options out there.
If you really want a [jank] example then have Barren Glory exiled with Oblivion Ring, bounce the board, then discard your hand with One with Nothing. The card is just waiting to get broken...
hibernation is great without adding bad cards to help it along.
It already does a great painters servant-in-play-impression against Pod and BGx, half of the versions of hatebears, bloom titan, and the occasional genny wave deck that pops up. Solid sideboard material.
