Looking for a modern deck that's as competitive as possible for around $200. I'll be lending this deck to a friend, and I want it to be a good deck. I also want the deck to have as many staples as possible, preferably snapcaster mage. And last, I'd prefer, but not require it to not be burn. Thanks in advance guys, you always help me out so please help me out one more time!
With snapcaster mages it won't be $200 or less, You could play 1 drop zoo, staples inside includes fetchlands, shocklands, lightning bolt, path to exile and atarka's command (if you wanna run it).

I like mono u from but I'm seeing things I hate about it that a splash wont fix. Us from has better long game. But it suffers from being a 3 type deck. Uw control in a from build.
I personally think a mud setup is better for tron but we can only do so much with the counters and mana rocks a have.
The two decks that have caught my attention the most are WUR Delver and Abzan Liege. I actually have a lot of pieces for both, the WUR Delver stuff from I have from my attempt to build Twin at one point, and I have stuff for Abzan Liege from when I used to play Zoo. The remaining pieces I need for both isn't that big of a problem in terms of budget. I playtested WUR Delver and it seems really fun. I did the same for Abzan Liege and while I like it and it seems powerful, it feels really weird not having red for bolt. Which deck should I pick?
Yes U Tron can be build by 100-150€ maeby 200€ whit 1 snapcaster and its good enough to play LGS tournaments

hmmm, when i meant staples i didn't necessarily mean full playsets, this is temporary so I can skimp on that
The problem is that the core of many decks is much higher than $200. For example, if you're going to build Twin you're looking at $100 for the Twins alone. If you want to build something like Junk, you're just not going to be able to.
UTron is a fun deck and you could probably build it for under $200, but it doesn't have many pieces that transfer into other decks.
I think I've got about $220 into my Loam Pox list, which is tons of fun. The only real money cards are lands and Bloodghast, and the staples would be the lands and Lingering Souls.
Another option would be a UR Delver list, using maybe two Snapcaster Mage, a set each of Young Pyromancer, Delver of Secrets, Lightning Bolt, maybe Forked Bolt, and various counterspells. The rough part is the landbase, as any land that taps for blue outside of basic Islands are outrageously expensive. The one at our house started with Swiftwater Cliffs, and as we got things like Steam Vents, Shivan Reef, and Sulfur Falls, those went in the deck. Started with zero Snapcaster Mage and bought them one at a time when we had the money. Still missing one, but they shot from $30 to $50 pretty quickly, so I'm not sure we'll get the fourth one anytime soon. The deck has morphed into UWR, cutting the Pyromasters and going into Geist of St. Traft, which is another money card. Plus the land base got even more ridiculous, but that's the price of having fun, I guess.
Soul Sisters and Bogles both look like decks that could be built relatively inexpensively, though Daybreak Coronets are out of budget on the Bogles deck.
I can't say I'm pleased to see you and must warn you I may have to do something about it.

I'm going to GP Utrecht in a month and really want to play some Modern UWr deck, even though they're not too well-positioned right now. I just really like the deck.
What is the best version of the deck atm? My first iteration is very control orientated but Geist seems to be good atm. Sadly since I play delta instead of scalding tarn I don't think kiki combo is possible.

I think every version is about the same, and none of them are doing well. They're all roughly 1% of the meta, so I think just picking the one that you like the most and does the best for you and the playstyle you have is ideal. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend playing UWR at a GP, the deck isn't well positioned right now. There are definitely other options that are good depending on what exactly you're willing to play and what you have cards for.
PS. The Geist versions tend to be more aggressive than controlling, playing fewer counters and more removal.
This is going to be vague, but I figure I'd give it a shot.
Been playing modern just over a year now. I've been playing BW Tokens the whole time. I am slowly building robots (it really shouldn't be called affinity) and have been waiting for MM2 for Mox Opal to come out.
I am interested in trying something new though. I am mainly an aggro player or like decks that are synergistic (i.e. tokens and robots..duh ) Like I said, looking to get into something new or different. It doesn't necessarily have to be top tier, none of them really seem to interest me. The point I want is to just get out of my comfort zone and increase my experience and get better at magic. Something combo oriented? I always get a kick out of Woo-brews and they seem to attract my attention a lot. Something along the lines of that.
I budget myself $120/month for magic (including tournaments) and I don't have an expansive collection. But can "pull" from months ahead of "schedule" if I really wanted to.
Sorry that I haven't given a lot of direction here, just interested in what ideas come to mind
I am not sure what to play, currently I have tried UR Storm, UR Bluemoon.
My main problem is that I don't own any vendilion cliques and I do not have the money. I like storm but I think I would enjoy playing an interactive deck more. I have tried to play blue moon but it is not the control deck I am looking for.
I was thinking about trying UW Control or something similar, I want to play some combination of UWR since I have most the mana base and I don't really like BG.
I would be very happy if you would advise me based on you knowlegde of the general meta and such.
I've seen a few UWR lists where the only creature they run is Snapcaster. It's a fun deck to play, but it's not super well positioned right now. I'd also say that the more midrangy version is better, but that one plays Cliques.
I might try a strickly UW list without cliques, The tricky part is ending the game, I thought about elspeth suns champion and jace, again I don't have any colonnades though i might get 2 but would that be sufficient? Almost all the lists play 4.
If you want to play UW Control, look into UW Tron. It's a pretty solid deck right now. Primer link in my signature.
I have looked at your primer and I really like the deck, but it seems very expensive. I don't have any of the big creatures and I don't have gift or tron lands, academy ruin or mindslaver :/
As far as Modern decks go, UW Tron is pretty decently costed for the value you get.
If UW Tron is not up your alley, I would like to offer UW "Cawblade." It has 2 Swords, the W Sorcery that searches an equipment, Squadron Hawks, and countermagic, sweepers, and card draw. You can also add Kitchen Finks and whatever else you need. The deck overall is a bit weak and there are horror matchups like Affinity, but it does decently vs. the field.

All seem like very good bets. It probably is best just to play the one that you have the most experience with, as cliché as that sounds. Short of that, Burn is probably the most consistent. I honestly don't know many decks that Burn straight up loses to except Soul Sisters, which is not a viable deck in my opinion.
As for results-based, out of the three, the one I've most often seen top 8 or win has been Affinity, but I attribute that more to the pilots being more experienced in Affinity than Burn pilots are at piloting Burn (and yes, as you know, Burn takes a lot of skill to play). "Magic is a hard game."

The only two decks that I've seen Grave Titan in was in the SB of 4 Color Gifts and the SB of Ad Nauseum. I think it works as an unexpected threat out of Ad Nauseum and a "value" creature in Gifts. The other threats are Iona, Shield of Emeria, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, which are put into play with Unburial Rites via Gifts Ungiven.

I would love to play grave titan and some bigger threads in an midrange-ish deck.
I own the BW-Midrange deck. (Confidants, Lilianas, discard spells). But I dont know. I guess BW tokes is better yet.
.. I have tasigur, siege rhinos, but no goyfs.
The deck went 4-0 during a Modern Daily twice within a week of each other. Looks like it plays the midrange with some ramp so it can drop Inferno and Grave Titan, while also being able to use Scapeshift to close the game. Unfortunetly it shares more of a Jund shell more than it does BW, so I'm not sure if it's out of question.

I've been playing affinity for a while, but am getting rather sick of some of the terrible hands and mulligans the deck offers. My meta at the moment has Storm, Living End, Dredgevine, Podless Pod, Soul Sisters, Fish, Burn, Amulet Bloom, Tron, Affinity and Junk.
Just looking for a deck that is consistently competitive, does not have to mulligan very much and is difficult to be hated out. Budget is not an issue so long as the deck does not contain goyf.

Thanks for any help in advance!
In that case, I'd recommend either Twin or Delver. I think your meta is very open, so I can't really recommend anything specific that'd be good in your meta. At any rate, both are competitive decks and I don't think they mulligan too much. While Twin might seem like it gets hated out, it's not as linear of a deck as it seems. You tend to actually not win with the combo as much as you'd expect because you can just play a tempo deck. Turns out Bolt -> Snapcaster -> Flashback Bolt is pretty good at pushing damage. It would more so come down to personal preference among which deck you wanted to play.
My LGS is switching FNM to a Modern tournament in a couple weeks in anticipation for MM2, so I figure that now is the time to finally get into the format. It seems like for the most part, the decks there aren't very expensive...I believe one person has a fairly expensive infect deck, but everyone else I've talked to has either gotten together a budget infect, or budget burn.
Neither of those interest me, but I'd love some suggestions as to what to play against them. I would like to keep it somewhere within the range of $100-$200, as I don't want to have an AMAZING deck that just flat out wrecks the players I play with. On the other hand, I don't want to have something totally janky that gets me crushed.
I'm pretty open minded to any suggestions. Thanks!
Soul Sisters is $120-200 or so, depending on if you do anything with nonbasic lands. Burn has a terrible time against it, plus it looks like a ton of fun to play with lots of triggers and interactions. I think infect is probably not a great matchup, but it's certainly playable.
There are also various budget Zoo lists available in the budget Zoo primer, going as low as $50.
