Alright, the rest of you can bellyache and grumble all you want, but I am officially a fan of MM2! WotC has bent over backwards to put cards in here that most of us were complaining about not being able to get enough of. As long as the commons continue the trend of being playable format staples, I will be just about delighted with every pack I open.
Agreed, I want all of this stuff just to boost my pool of modern cards period.
There's things like remand , splinter twin, hierarch, wilt leaf liege so far that are notable reprints with good demand. Obviously they have to consider the draft format while designing the set so there has to be some junk rares.
Guys please opinions on japanese cards. Lost a 3/3 creature against Japan celestial colonade. This guy played all creatures and spells in english cards, but some cards in his manabase was japanese. I dont registrated this really ( my brain say its all fine and all english to me lets attack his empty board)...and i am sure it is a Kind of legal cheating. It is not ok, but i know legal. I Hate such people. I never forget colonade normally, but with this Tricks it can happen one time in 3 years and such people take advantage of this
If I am a customer spending premium amount of dollars, I expect a premium service. Jund falls into the category of a premium deck costing more dollars than a majority of the rest of the format. I'm not getting the desired performance ratio per dollars spent out of the Jund deck because WOTC decided to make the format more diverse.
After reviewing the spoiler I really gotta ask, does WotC pay attention to the format AT ALL? There are some serious exclusions that should have been in here and are resoundingly absent. Serum Visions, IOK, Path to Exile, Might of Old Krosa, Aven Mindcensor, Aether Vial and Gitaxian Probe to name a few big ones. I mean seriously. For a lot of these MM is the only feasible set to release them and they just DIDN'T.
I mean Dispatch over Path? What? So if you wanna run optimal removal in white you need to go metal craft? Really? How stupid is that? A theme can be pushed but having it tied that close to something as essential as relevant removal is poor planning on their part.
To me, the entire set is, surprise surprise, one big money grab. The only cards that seem to have gotten any major consideration are the big name mythics that will appear 1 in 8 packs. So you only have to spend a ~$1000 on packs to pull your playset. What a joke. Way to help people into the format WotC.

Like seriously, how does a professional developer for a set designed with Modern in mind come to the conclusion that Telling Time is the staple handsculpting card in the format?
Well it is a draft set as well so there is bound to be some chaff but it does seem a little... conservative on the reprint side.
I know, but from looking over the spoiler it seems the people in charge of MM 2015 were far more concerned over Limited than they were with reprinting Modern staples.
Wizards has really been bending over backwards to make all of their recent sets Limited-playable but it has come at the expense of Constructed seeing fewer and fewer fun things for them.
Well it is a draft set as well so there is bound to be some chaff but it does seem a little... conservative on the reprint side.
That said the amazing troll of Splinter Twin and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker but neither Pestermite nor Deceiver Exarch amuses me greatly
I can understand that, but there were some VERY obvious misses that needed to be reprinted that completely went over their heads.Inquisition of Kozilek, Path to Exile, Serum Visions, to name a few. That's not including Damnation, since the Judge printing seems to have qualified for it.
Serum Visions is a $6 common, and they've missed three logical places to reprint it (Theros, MM2, Kiora vs Elspeth), and it really makes me question if they know what they are doing when it comes to reprints.... And I'm usually one who defends their printings of Goyf.....
I'm sure the Limited part of the product is going to be fun, but at $20 a pack if we're lucky it's not going to be worth it if I can take away this little on the Modern side. 100-150 playable reprints would have gone a long way, especially if they reprinted good Brew cards....

Oath of the Gatewatch; the set that caused the competitive community to freak out over Basic Lands.
This set, at first glance, looks like a joke compared to the first MMA. So many cards missing, so much useless jank. The rare slot in this is going to be a big disappointment in over half the packs opened, and a lot of value commons & uncommons were not included at all. Remand is the only card among them that I'd really be excited to see among my commons/uncommons. For a $10 MSRP, this really misses the mark. All the value is in like 10 of the 53 rares, and 14 of the 15 mythics. So (14/15 * 1/8) + (10/53 * 7/8) = less than 30% chance of your $10 pack being any good. Just a quick rough estimate. Admittedly, I didn't study the commons & uncommons as well as I did the rares & mythics, so I might have missed something in there, and that doesn't account for the foils.
I totally agree that this is a bit ridiculous, Damnation and Path I can kind of understand as they are both getting promo reprints (even if that seems unlikely to help demand too much). IOK and Serum Visions are the big misses for me.
That said IOK could well be in Battle for Zendikar so I'm willing to wait on that. As for Visions, when they spoiled the Path promo I swear they said something about another non-standard FNM promo, maybe its visions? That said, promo versions only do so much towards helping with demand issues like visions has
Yeah, we get another Modern card FNM promo in August. It would have to be Visions at this point unless they are planning a return of Scry.
I would guess a reprint of IOK in Battle for Zen but Kolizek is meant to have left Zen at this point so it would be out of flavor. Maybe in the dual deck?

In play: Jund Death Shadow, Grixis Control, Eldrazi Stompy, Ponza
In the yard: RUG Delver, Kiki-Chord, Grixis Twin, Mardu Control, Smallpox, Jeskai Control, Jeskai Delver, Assault Loam, Elves, Deathcloud, Eggs, Storm
IoK could end up in the Zendikar vs. Eldrazi Duel Decks as well.
I'm guessing Serum Visions will end up in Origins, or (more likely) as the August FNM promo.
I'm not terribly disappointed overall; mostly it's the lack of solid commons and uncommons that leaves me scratching my head. Some good inclusions, but man, so many misses.
When's the next time we're likely to see a reprint on Gitaxian Probe? At least there's a shot in hell Might of Old Krosa could show up in some supplemental product.
Eldrazi Temple and Eye of Ugin each getting a downgrade in rarity seem to be the workaround within context of Limited.

Remand's reprinted.
It's fine.
Everything's fine.
Or they just plan to simply Ban it in a near future.
