The question is Modern playability. For a set created to increase the cards for the Modern pool, most bounces are useless.
Well, all evidence to the contrary..... There are some other audiences the set is aimed at. At this point, increasing the modern card pool seems less and less the primary factor.
I kind of wanted a box but then decided I'd just take the money and buy singles. Now instead of singles from MM2, I'm most interested in singles NOT in MM2!
This set turned out to be really disappointing. The reprints at Rare and Mythic were nice, but it doesn't mean much while drafting when the commons and uncommons had to be weakened to compensate.
You can't appease everyone. I for one, actually think it's a pretty good set, although it is skewed too much toward Mythics. Rares like Noble Hierarch and Fulminator Mage will be nice to get more play sets of.
I usually think that a new set is pretty weak, but this one is pretty darn good in my opinion.

This is a great possibility since it is Zendikar vs the Eldrazi, and normally they do include 1-2 expensive uncommons in the set i.e. Remand, Lightning Helix, Path to exile, etc. I just don't know if they would include all 3 eldrazi titans in it or just ulamog's horde of fletchlings, but thats for a different page.
I am happy to see more remands in the mix now, and I am excited to hopefully see spellskite's price drop

There are less than 15 modern-playable rares in the entire set. How is that good for Modern Masters 2?
With GP Chiba sold out, and 5940 players registered for GP Vegas, with 16 days to go, Modern Masters 2015 has to be considered a smmaaaaaashing success.
As for what's not included? Their reports will filter in what the masses are demanding. As many have mentioned, Path is July FNM giveaway. Even if you don't play standard, pop in and trade for them. Offering cash will work even better.
Serum will likely be August or September FNM giveaway. They can't spoil all the reprints early, or they'll suffer a loss of sales. I'm sure they have a list of the top 100 or 200 desired reprints, in all rarities. Each set, post some up, add new ones to the list.
And remember, above all else, they are a money making business, and one of the money formulas is never, ever giving the masses everything they want.

I'm just saying from a value standpoint, it seems worth spending money on (ie. buying packs). It probably really isn't quite worth it though, with probably about 4 Mythics on average per box.
Leyline being reprinted was great. I couldn't believe it when someone told me that they had bought 4 for $120 a month ago. Spellskite was good, Splinter Twin was okay, Fulminator Mage and Noble Hierarch were awesome. Goyf, Bob, and Vendilion Clique are all back, with Cryptic Command too. I mean, some people are not going to be happy no matter what unless they reprint Goyf as an ultra-common.
Now I don't know how much the reprints will do with the prices, but it should definitely increase the number of Modern players if nothing else. Sure, some day it would be nice if I could easily afford to have a binder full of completed pages of Tarmogoyf, but until that happens, MM2015 was much better than nothing being reprinted at all.

there's actually not too much going on with this set. personally, i only want foils and karn. too far away from any g/b deck to really want goyfs and stuff.

You can't consider the set as a massive success just because it a Grand Prix sells out before the set is spoiled and people can see that it isn't great.

No we would have been plenty happy without Goyf being a common, because all we wanted were the uncommons and commons that haven't seen print in 5+ years, and even 10+ years, but for some reason they missed all of these obvious inclusions for a bunch of cards that I can expect to see in the next Standard core set or for cards that have seen print multiple times in the past year or two and are easy to acquire.
The set being MODERN Masters those that both want to draft the set or get into the format are getting a rather raw end of the deal. I don't feel like playing the mythic lottery with a $10 ticket, but would have liked being able to open foils of those sought after commons and uncommons or just nonfoil versions. Serum Veisions alone has jumped in price about $2 since the full reveal and is now a $10 common. That shouldn't happen with a card that not only should have seen a reprint here, but could have been reprinted in any of the three Theros sets or in Elspeth vs. Kiora.
Then there is Damnation where they stated that missing an "obvious reprint in FTV: Annihilation" would mean it would be in another set. Damnation wasn't in Commander 2014 so folks pretty much expected it here.
You can't reprint a lot of these cards in normal Standard sets so it is important that Wizards gets the reprints they can in the products they can, not only to make a better product, but to make the game cheaper and more accessible for a format that they are promoting quite a lot.
A pretty good set? Tell me, how many of these commons and uncommons will you be using in a Modern deck anytime soon? What I loved most about MMA was even if you didn't get Cashmogoyf or Bob, you could still get valuable cards like Kitchen Finks, Path to Exile, or Spell Snare. I don't get that feeling here in MM2. Aside from Electrolyze and Remand, what cards at common and uncommon could anyone conceivably get excited over?
EDIT: And even ignoring value, this just seems like a very poorly thought out set. Putting in the Eldrazi with few means of ramping them out? Opening Daybreak Coronet, only to realize there's literally only 2 other cards (one of which is at Rare) it can be combo'd with?! They shifted their focus onto reprints so heavily that they completely botched the drafting experience in a set built around drafting. I'm all for reprints, but not if it comes at the cost of having fun while drafting.
Apparently, the only reason is that scry wasn't in the set, which seem ridiculous to me.
I guess they only wanted a mechanic to show up if it had more than one card in it with it. I suppose Noble Hierarch wouldn't have made it in if Battlegrace Angel wasn't also included, nor would either of the three cards with Wither.
Time Spiral had a bunch of random mechanics, but I guess people would be too confused by a random mechanic showing up one time in Modern Masters.

By that logic Wizards could have easily included a random card with scry to justify Serum Visions. Wouldn't be that hard to make room since there's so much filler in this set.

How can you possibly be confused by a random mechanic if there is reminder text? Also, it isn't like a bunch of casual players who don't know what they are doing will be opening these packs for fun. Almost everyone opening it will know what scry does, especially with it being in Standard right now.
I mean, they put land cycling in this set with less than a handful of cards with the text.
Why not Scry?
I think not including Serum Visions is the biggest crime of this set. Obviously, there are some rares which would've been really cool but, c'mon, $7 common? It would've been easy to cut Stoic Rebuttal and slot in Condescend. Look, you've got two cards with Scry now. Problem solved.
Also worth noting are the ~34 bulk rares in this set.

One a personal note, Inexorable Tide should have been Contagion Engine. Engine isn't much better, but it would have fit in both with blues proliferate/graft and blacks -1/-1 counter them plus being pretty good against the token theme. Tide is awful compared to Engine, sure it still would have been a $1 rare, but at least in draft it would have been a bit better for limited as a whole.

No idea. Hell, there is only 3 cards with Wither, but I can't imagine people being confused by that either.

That was pretty much the gist of it, yeah. I guess it was hard to just make a list of the things that were needed after the mythics.
