A point i don't see covered yet is burn.
With the rise of popularity of Jund rocking 4 Bobs seems a good bet.
With a proper SB it has an edge also against Twin (better against UR than Grixis), amulet and delvers which seem to be the most popular decks right now.
CoCo decks with finks could be a problem but with almost 8 MD "can't gain life" spells it isn't a bad place to be.
It's also less consuming in term of player energy which is important in big GPs.

Btw. Jund has a better match-up against Burn than Junk, which may sound strange, but Bolt is better than Path and they have a more painless Manabase (4 Blackcleave Cliffs are huge). You can see it in the deep-dive analysis on Modern Nexus.
Greetings,
Kathal
On top of that Burn has actually a horrible matchup against Amulet Bloom. According to Modern Nexus data Bloom has won basically 80% of all matches against Burn.
And that is really not a data anomaly. It really is that bad for Burn. I have even heard Burn and Amulet players says so.
I posted it in the Jund thread already but since the topic of hating on Amulet and Tron came up here it is quite fitting. Brad Nelson made 16th place in the SCG Invitational with maindeck Fulminator Mages
and both Gerry Thompson and PV have picked up on this and PV even says that this should become standard for all Jund builds.
Here is a sample list of Gerry Thompsons build he is working on for the GP.
Oh boy do you feel the hate?
I imagine quite a few people will be catched off-guard should they play against a list like this like Amulet players not being careful with their Pacts and being blown out by the mage game 1 and certainly not many people expect to see Blood Moon out of Jund
I still think that the anti Ajundi list from the early 2014 is playable now (MD Blood Moon in Jund with Birds). It rekt the mirror and had the Jund components against the remaining field (and MD Blood Moon). Compared with the meta today, it looks even more promising to run MD Blood Moon in Jund.
Greetings,
Kathal

This make me remember how much i want Wastelands in modern...
On the burn-amulet MU i admit i play just a few more than a couple of game but it feel always that a timely Moon is still game...

Honestly, if Bloom really does keep Burn in check, I don't want Bloom to go away. Maybe (Maybe) ban Hive Mind to make them less explosive, but still.
I don't mind Burn being good, but it's just.... lazy, to be able to go into an event with a deck like that and stomp over most if not everyone. ESPECIALLY now that it has 8 copies of Skullcrack available to be MDed.

Ghost quarter screws bloom more than enough. no need for wasteland
Ghost quarter screws bloom more than enough. no need for wasteland
My nostalgia for Wasteland has nothing to do with bloom in particular.
I just cant stand the greedy/perfect manabase we have these days without any relevant drawback.

I'd certainly be happy to see Wasteland added to the Modern card pool. But like with Force of Will, it just isn't going to happen.
I would laugh if Bloom gets banned, this poor fool went from Pod to Bloom and has started to foil out the deck already. If Bloom gets banned on him, I'm going to have to do everything in my power to prevent him from playing Jund or Storm.

Oath of the Gatewatch; the set that caused the competitive community to freak out over Basic Lands.
So I have a conundrum - I'm driving down to Charlotte today to play in the GP and I was ready to rock RG Tron because I knew the meta was perfect for it to prey on.
Low and behold - SCG Invitational threw a wrench into the works when Tron took BOTH major events last weekend. Now folks are going to come packing hate that is really going to hinder my game plan.
In general, my go-to decks are RG Tron and URx Delver (Grixis recently, RUG historically).
My question is, how do you think the meta shifts to react to Tron's win and what will that shift cause the meta to be weak to? I think Grixis Twin is still a safe call. Burn is always safe, especially since Tron is one of its best match-ups. I think Bogles is a sleeper right now as well.
Thoughts? How do you think the meta adjusts this weekend, besides playing every Blood Moon ever printed somewhere in the 75?

You will start seeing more Fulminator Mages in mainboards out of Jund and Anafenza Company decks and Sowing Salt in the SB.. From the people I've talked to more people are switching over to U/R Twin to combat the Tron and Bloom decks.
So I'd lean on a deck that has a solid manabase that Mage doesn't destroy and has a good Twin matchup.
I'd lean on playing U/R Twin right now if you had the choice. Bogles I don't like right now as it loses to Tron/Bloom which you still will see ton's off.
Also think Merfolk is a great choice now as it has counters to stop the combo decks and great creatures to fight Junk/Jund. My top decks this week would be:
1: U/R Twin
2: Junk(lingering souls is great, plus path to exile vs Twin)
3: Merfolk
4: Living End(great vs the creature decks, land destruction for Bloom/Tron, but loses to Burn).
1 UXX control
1 Burn
1 Tron
2 CoCo
1 Twin
1 Affinity
1 Jund
I am picking Jund to win. My guess is that Burn and Affinity end up in the lower end of the T8 and because of that, they end up on the draw in the Quarterfinals, and lose their respective matches. CoCo ends up losing in the finals to Jund.
I'm hoping for a Twin or Amulet win. Another Twin win wouldn't be good for the deck, same goes for Amulet
For everyone's info, I'm going to be considering this kind of comment as trolling as we go ahead with this thread. It leads to nothing but arguments, bad blood, and other qualities that we don't want in our discussion.
I would love to see some tier2-ish decks on camera. I really like when I get to see non-tier1 decks on the feature match area! After a few rounds, watching the same decks all over again gets old

Honestly, I'm really hoping (Fingers highly crossed) Shamanism gets some camera love. I keep trying to tell people there is a cheap deck that can put up finishes that's like $50 without the mana base, but they keep telling me it's not putting up results.
PROBABLY BECAUSE NO ONE IS PLAYING IT.

I am still hoping for Fabiano Sultai to make a comeback. I think it is pretty decently positioned right now. Great against Twin and whatever other combos come up, very good against Jund and Junk. Ok matchup against Bloom and pretty good against Burn with all the life gain.
Affinity isn't the best MU, but Dismember in the main, as well as a Murderous Cut or two, help a lot.
I'll be watching and hopinp to see on camera Living End, Ad Nauseam, BW Tokens, RG Breach, etc. But Living End and Ad Nauseam
I love me some Ad Nauseam as I play it, but it's in a terrible spot right now. So many Abrupt Decays and Kolaghan's Commands going around to destroy are mana excel, plus Stony Silence is going to be more popular cause Tron and it destroys us.
Living End however with Leyline of the Void in the SB is in a fantastic spot right now and wouldn't be surprised to see it Top 8.

As a Living End player, I think also that the deck is in a favorable position and could sneak somewhere in the top 32 to be realistic ; top 16 would be great and top 8 would be beyond words!
However, about Ad Nauseam, I love the deck so much, it's the one I'm building with tournament prizes at the moment. I think that it could surprise by sneaking also in top 32 : Infect is on the downside and that's the worst matchup ever for Ad Nauseam, but still Junk is a thing. However, RG Tron is going upward and it's one of the best matchup for the deck (with Burn), so it's not a terrible situation I think.
